I Have a Dice Left by a God

Chapter 110: If You're Not Convinced Let's Fight

Li Xin just wanted to be a quiet and handsome man, but instead of his beloved owl, what he got was an old rash one.

At the Saint's Grace Canon Law School base, Simmons and Celestia were there, along with an uninvited guest, Didia, who, on orders from Prince Achilles, was to assist Li Xin in investigating the Inner Demon case.

Simmons and Celestia didn't mind, but surprisingly, Didia didn't object either. Given his pride, obeying Achilles was acceptable, but assisting an outsider, especially a commoner, was unthinkable in the past. Such a situation would likely have led to a duel immediately, yet during the waiting period, Didia remained remarkably calm and showed no sign of hostility.

Simmons held no personal grudge with Didia; on the contrary, he admired Didia's strength and character. Celestia curiously examined Didia, wondering if he had been shattered in spirit by a great battle?

Didia experienced a mental struggle in coming here; the Inner Demon case was a disgrace to the Nasser Clan. Although Anthony was certainly not the Inner Demon, his actions were linked to it, tarnishing the family's name. Had the Nasser Clan not been of pillar status, an ordinary noble family would have long disappeared.

He also wanted to cleanse the shame and find the real demon, reducing Anthony's deeds to mere personal misconduct; after all, every family has its share of black sheep.

This was his way after much contemplation. It had become difficult to stay at the Knight Academy, despite his strong mind. The constant suspicion, mockery, and strange looks formed immense pressure, and he needed to act rather than endure silently. The family internal situation wasn't great either, as losing to Simmons was a loss, no matter the explanation, so he decided to take action.

He volunteered before His Highness the Prince to get involved in investigating the real culprit of the Inner Demon, and the Prince agreed, sending him to assist the man named Li Xin.

Avogadro, a Hidden Power from Secret Castle, is closely associated with the Moon God, and for now, that's all the intel available.

Didia still resisted this; it all sounded flashy, but he didn't find the foundation of Hidden Power particularly compelling—claiming he was closely associated with the Earth Mother Goddess wouldn't sway him either. His pride was deeply ingrained, neither more nor less than anyone else's.

Of course, Achilles knew this and simply said, "What kind of level would someone have to be, to awaken Simmons' Thunder Power within a week and train him to a draw against you?"

Achilles didn't insist, suggesting Didia give it a try, with the option to withdraw anytime if unwilling. This was to be discussed through Simmons, who had been informed as well.

Didia arrived at the Saint's Grace Canon Law School, truthfully without much resistance and didn't feel pressured. Simmons' growth was indeed impressive, but he wasn't Didia's rival. Simmons' awareness of this, as shown in his attitude, actually heightened Didia's opinion of him.

"When will he arrive?" Didia asked, feeling this person was a bit slow.

"I said just have a carriage pick him up directly for speed," Celestia suggested, feeling that sending a Messenger to notify him would be faster.

The Messenger was naturally quick and good at tracking, so even if Li Xin wasn't at the inn, he could be found.

Li Xin was indeed at the inn, just taking a while waiting for the convertible.

"How much do you know about the Inner Demon?" Didia asked, seemingly for collaboration with Simmons and also as a challenge, as their performance in this case would directly influence future status.

"Made some contact at the Funeral Attendant's, but still no clear leads," Simmons said, with the Prince assigning him this task indicating he had caught Prince Achilles' eye, and future Hidden Power would be led by the Second Prince, crucial to the George Family.

"The Funeral Attendant's skill is deteriorating, dragging out a case for years unresolved," Didia said solemnly.

"This case is very complex, possibly backed by a cover-up, which could be why His Highness let both of us intervene," Simmons said.

Didia nodded, "I will test that Li Xin later to see if he's qualified to lead this case."

"Sure, if you can beat Li Xin, we'll listen to you," Celestia said nonchalantly, "I know you're discontent, but don't be too discontent."

Celestia was somewhat instigating, but Didia didn't care. The previous battle had been repressive, simmering could cause internal injuries. If the noteworthy figure from Secret Castle was so strong, then fully unleash for a satisfying match.

Li Xin arrived late, and Simmons briefed the situation, "His Highness the Prince wants us to follow you in investigating the case. If we encounter obstacles, it'll be convenient to have us around. Also, Captain Travis has been notified and can cooperate at any time."

Li Xin was speechless; he originally intended to procrastinate — this was forcing his hand, left only to tackle each challenge. Even with the investigation, actual targeting would require Achilles to handle, as the danger level was too lethal.

"Alright, then let's schedule a trip to the Funeral Man Base…"

Didia frowned, interrupting Li Xin, "I doubt your ability to solve the case; there is a strong hidden power within — personal abilities and vision are crucial."

"Do you want to lead this case? That's great, I also feel I'm unworthy of the task," Li Xin said. Such a favorable situation seemed impossible, for any slight crisis assessment, he'd avoid it, unable to be accused of unreliability, even with the Night Patrol; he merely provided Christie with intelligence.

Didia was speechless, having imagined various scenarios, none of which included this. "Li Xin, you're insulting me; I demand a duel with you!"

Celestia let out a giggle, and Simmons couldn't suppress a smile, "Brother Li, show him, otherwise he thinks he's at the top level."

Simmons, though not ultimately skilled, was exceptionally perceptive.

Li Xin quickly waved his hands, "I think Didia makes a lot of sense; this matter really needs hidden abilities, which I don't quite understand."

Didia's eyebrows twitched; feeling insulted ever since losing. All had been provoking him, simmering until near explosion, "Li Xin, I know you belong to the Secret Castle, but it's but one of many hidden powers. Its fame stems from possessing the Divine Relic, and in terms of combat ability, it's not even ranked!"

Always demanding control over his emotions, Didia erupted, "If you're a man, show your strength and fight me!"

"Didia, I truly mean it, I genuinely think you can," Li Xin sincerely said, "If I could carve out my heart to show you, you'd know my sincerity."

Whoosh...

A silver spear appeared out of thin air in Didia's hand; the spear pointed at Li Xin with a clang sound, "Take out your weapon!"

Li Xin stared intently at Didia, it wasn't a Divine Relic; the use and fluctuation of a Divine Relic weren't like this. The situation just now seemed like a space item, making him feel stupid carrying a bag everywhere, yet more trouble if left at the inn — Aunt Fei's clothes, the paper crane Echo made, Old Luo's knife, and Miss Aries' harp...

"Do you have a space-type Secret Item?" Li Xin tentatively asked.

Didia frowned, "Are you referring to Yazama Karashi?"

"Yes, wait a moment," Li Xin picked up a bundle, rummaging for the token given by Achilles, "If we're going to fight, let's be serious, otherwise it's lacking legitimacy; if you win, you get the token, if you lose, that Yazama Karashi goes to me."

Yazama Karashi is extremely rare, not a Sixth Epoch Secret Item, traceable to the Third and Fourth Epochs, circulated among humans in the Fifth Epoch, becoming exceptionally rare by the Sixth. Though lacking significant power, it is highly convenient for carrying and concealing not-too-large objects, making it a valuable treasure with no market.
