I Have a Dice Left by a God

Chapter 122: Isaac's Life Notes

"Brother Li, Brother Li, cough cough, it's over." Simmons patted Li Xin, who was still shaking his head, "The Lord Metropolitan has arrived."

Li Xin hurriedly stood up, his face full of piety, "Lord Metropolitan, I was too absorbed just now, sorry."

Worner showed a benevolent smile and looked at Li Xin, "You can even fall asleep during prayer."

Li Xin's face turned red with embarrassment, and Simmons, Didia, and Celestia also felt awkward, while Travis remained unfazed, pretending not to have heard. The Lord Metropolitan chuckled softly, "Actually, I used to be like that too, or else I would have changed my robe color long ago."

"Father, when can we take a look at that note?" Celestia asked eagerly, "With that note, we can catch the culprit by the tail!"

Seeing Celestia's excitement, Worner felt the need to temper it, "Sealing Item 179 itself doesn't have much power, but its content is filled with forbidden knowledge. Celestia, you better not look at it; at most, you can participate in the discussion."

"Father..." Sedilia complained, ready to use her coquettish tactics, "Let me participate a bit. These rough men don't understand some details that only girls can notice."

"Miss Sedilia, stop messing around. Everyone is busy with serious matters. Doesn't the George Family know any rules?" Didia said sternly.

"Didia, what are you babbling about, you loser." Celestia said mockingly.

Didia's face turned grim, "Don't talk nonsense. Last time was just a draw. Don't think you can act recklessly just because of the Prince. Captain Travis, I firmly oppose her causing trouble here."

The expression on Worner's face remained unreadable. Didia's presence was slightly odd, but not even Simmons and Celestia's godfather would intervene at this time. It's not about fearing the Nasser Clan, but rather that it's inappropriate for adults to intervene in children's squabbles.

"Didia, you can quit right now if you want to. If it weren't for the Prince's sake, do you think I want to associate with the brother of a murderer? Allowing you to join is giving you a chance for redemption, not for you to boss others around!" Simmons said coldly, "And you better watch your mouth. No one needs to tell my sister anything, and you're the least qualified!"

"Cough, cough, everyone, calm down. We can sit down and discuss matters slowly..." Travis had to mediate. What was going on? Minutes ago, things were fine, but suddenly a powder keg was lit. Nobles truly couldn't be relied on.

Didia clenched his fists, staring at Simmons as if ready to strike at any moment, the veins on his neck bulging, "I quit!"

He bowed to the Lord Metropolitan, then angrily stormed off, while Celestia made a funny face with schadenfreude, "The eyesore is finally gone!"

"Why are you two still acting like children? Didia has quite a good character." Worner said gently.

"Father, it's just that he gets on my nerves. It's fine when he's quiet, but once he speaks, he targets someone here or there. This matter is something the Prince tasked Li Xin with, not him. Yet he always wants to play the leader." Celestia pouted, holding the arm of the Lord Metropolitan, looking proudly defiant, as if daring to criticize herself in front of her godfather.

"Father, a team needs unity first to have combat power. The Prince wants us to make peace, but since we aren't naturally aligned, let's not force it." Simmons said.

Worner smiled indifferently, "You handle it as you see fit. Come with me, Travis, you too."

"Yes, Sir." In front of the Lord Metropolitan, Travis, a mere squad leader, was absolutely respectful.

Inside the Church, several clergy members from the Church Court carried a large box. Worner pointed, "This is the note you all wanted."

The clergy in charge of the sealed item, with Worner's consent, began opening the box. It had a sealing barrier that needed a specific spell to open and then required three keys, layer by layer. Finally, Isaac's artificial human notes appeared before everyone.

Previously filled with curiosity, Simmons and Celestia were now a bit bewildered, "What is this?"

A huge box entirely filled with notes, not just numerous but also disorganized, with pages full of dense symbols and drawings. The two showed nothing but question marks on their faces. Weren't notes supposed to be a small notebook? What is this?

"These are just the final product notes. The volume of Isaac's experiments was several times this. They are all in the Hera Language, combined with spell arrays and some incomprehensible drawings. If you want to study them, you can do so here. These people are the caretakers from the Church Court's library, and they will accompany you throughout. They will stay here during this period to assist you." Worner said gently, "You can look, but stay mentally alert. Although no obvious corrupting power has been found in the notes, they are sealed items, and you must be cautious. If anything seems off, be sure to inform me."

"Don't worry, Father. This is the Church, and with you here, we fear nothing." Celestia said, eager to start.

The five clergy members didn't disturb them but stood quietly at a distance, waiting patiently. Worner didn't stay either; merely flipping through these items would take considerable time, let alone finding clues.

Travis watched as the three others, Celestia, began flipping through one. She wanted to see stories. Notes should typically record researchers' thoughts; surely something could be found within. But the book in her hands was filled with content she couldn't understand. She was quite good with Hera Language and considered herself talented with languages, yet each sentence she knew made sense, but she couldn't understand them together.

The two of them switched from book to book, finding the same problem. Li Xin was also holding one and reading. It was much like he expected, Isaac's experiment notes, highly specialized, with detailed structures and diagrams. It was densely packed with arrays and spells and some human anatomy and life-based spells. This... was utterly incomprehensible.

Occasionally, there were circled and dotted spots, maybe indicating some questions, but there was practically no criticism or emotional expression in the content.

The three of them went through many books, trying to gather some clues; the content was all extremely detailed information.

"Captain Travis, aren't you going to take a look?" Simmons gave up, thinking that with his brain, it was impossible to find any clues.

Travis spread his hands, "We've reviewed these repeatedly over the past two years. There are no clues; it's merely Isaac's research process."

The Funeral Attendant and Inner Demon had already gotten to this point, already pursuing it relentlessly. Isaac's experiment notes held potential but were sadly unhelpful. No one in the Church Court could understand them.

Li Xin also had trouble comprehending them. From the notes, he could discern Isaac's focus and professionalism. There were very few descriptions about emotions and progress, though they weren't absent. Li Xin continued flipping through, noting that it mainly discussed parts of the human body, mentioning that the soul wasn't necessarily essential. These were taboos within the Earth Mother Goddess Church, forbidden anywhere within the Church Court.
