I Have a Dice Left by a God

Chapter 155: Dragon Mother Is Lovestruck

Li Xin arrived at the Saint Grace Canon Law School, and everyone was very enthusiastic upon seeing him, though they also felt sorry for him. This time in the Honor Battle, the Duke of Nate and several other nobles proposed to prohibit people from other countries from participating to ensure the purity of the Honor Battle, a suggestion met with much approval. This proposal was crucial because a knight's honor is vital to the Knightly Path, and worst-case scenario, if someone else won, it would be quite disadvantageous for Moncalleta.

This was an overt scheme against the Canon Law School, as the school allowed immigrants to join and welcomed talented individuals from all countries, yet due to the importance of the Honor Battle, they couldn't refuse participation outright.

Li Xin was indifferent to it; though interested in the knights' Wish Power, his path wasn't a knight's path, and even if he obtained it, it would likely be more trouble than it's worth, possibly causing more problems than benefits. He admired Simmons for placing the Angel's Heart within the furnace for the entire team to use; achieving good results in the Honor Battle was not something one person could accomplish alone.

Li Xin and Simmons arrived at the meeting room. Simmons knew there was likely something important. After hearing the analysis, he nodded continuously, though his family forbade them from getting involved in this matter, insisting they focus on preparing for the Honor Battle. The George Family naturally sided with the King, yet regardless, priorities existed, and the Honor Battle was vital for Simmons's future. The opinion of the second prince was less significant.

"You don't need to step in; find me an item belonging to Anthony, and I'll find a way to notify him," Li Xin said. Additionally, the George Family's messenger was quite conspicuous and might attract unwanted attention. "Prepare well; the previous Canon Law School's results have been mediocre, and public opinion isn't favorable. If we can truly perform spectacularly, I could rely on your success in the future."

"There's no certainty, but regardless, we must face it and give it our all." Simmons was already responsible for liaising with Didia, and both sides had prepared tracking items for the messenger; just a sniff could track them. "Brother Li, my grandfather doesn't want me involved, which seems more than just because of the Honor Battle; there must be other reasons. It's uncharacteristically reckless to offend the second prince. Be wary."

"Don't worry. Could you lend me your carriage?"

"You can use it; I'm in training and won't need it." Simmons had already instructed, "Child is an old family servant; he's reliable."

Li Xin took the items and returned home. The black cat came timely; the Li family doesn't keep idle cats.

Returning to the inn, the black cat was swaggering around the courtyard, marking its new territory. It seemed quite nice, quite tasteful. Suddenly, it was lifted by the neck, body dangling, then carried into a room. A handkerchief was pressed against its nose, and the black cat struggled, nearly suffocating. Did this human intend to kill it?

"Deliver this letter to him for me, discreetly," Li Xin instructed.

The black cat extended a paw, then flexed it. Li Xin wasn't stingy, knowing that if it completed the task, it deserved compensation, placing a Lira in its paw. However, the black cat extended its paw again, flexing it, with its shiny, big eyes looking watery at Li Xin.

"You rascal, daring to raise the price!" Li Xin was speechless; was it rebelling?

The black cat maintained a pure, innocent face, pitifully extending its paw. Li Xin pondered, realizing a forced deal might lead to problems; after all, he wasn't its original owner. He placed another Lira in its paw, and only then did the black cat proudly straighten up, ready for its professional task of delivering the letter.

Watching the black cat leap out the window, Li Xin was left waiting. He suspected Didia was planning to infiltrate the enemy or had even defected, so it was only arranged for a meeting.

Once Li Xin was alone in the room, the dice began spinning, then slowly vanished into thin air.

This was an ineffective verdict, and Li Xin didn't roll again, understanding that whether Didia showed up or not was a statement in itself.

With time to kill, Li Xin dutifully sat at the typewriter, clacking away. Despite thinking of later matters, he had little focus. After several hours producing meaningless work, he lay on the bed to sort through recent events.

While pondering, Justin returned, leaping through the window with a meow.

"You seem delighted. How much did Didia give you?"

Justin meowed, shaking its head swiftly.

"Come on, I'm not going to compete with a cat. Is there a reply?" Li Xin asked.

Justin spat out a letter, and Li Xin opened it.

"Midnight, agreed location."

Li Xin crushed the note to dust in his palm, knowing the chosen meeting place was by the seaside dock.

Stretching out, he suddenly recalled the carriage was still waiting outside. He wouldn't need it today, so Li Xin wandered downstairs, only to be blocked by Dragon Mother.

"Dragon Mother, good afternoon! Where are you headed?"

"Ah, Young Master Li, has Young Master Simmons arrived? I noticed the carriage outside; I haven't seen Young Master Simmons for quite some time and have been unable to sleep lately," Dragon Mother plaintively gazed at Li Xin.

"Dragon Mother, Young Master Simmons is in rigorous training, focused and single-mindedly dedicated. We shouldn't disturb him. The carriage was lent to me, and I was planning to send it back tonight," Li Xin explained, knowing he could use this excuse until the Honor Battle concluded. Afterward, they could think of something new, or maybe Simmons could find a girlfriend.

"Young Master Simmons's carriage, that is. Ahem, I was wondering if the carriage could take me to the Inner City on the way?" Dragon Mother's eyes twinkled, her robust arm firmly blocking the staircase like the famous Zhang Fei from years ago.

Li Xin furrowed his brow, spreading his hands reluctantly, "Dragon Mother, I'm just borrowing..."

"Young Master Li, don't you think Sister Long treats you well?" Dragon Mother took a step up, releasing a pungent fragrance, a powerful pressure bearing down on Li Xin.

"Ah, I just remembered, I asked David to buy me some perfume, I need to go pick it up," Li Xin planned to retreat, thinking discretion is the better part of valor.

"The perfume is with me; I brought it for you," Dragon Mother revealed, pulling out a bottle of perfume in an exquisite crystal bottle containing a golden liquid that looked luxurious. "I've already paid for it. Just give me a ride in the carriage, and we'll be even."

Li Xin was inwardly pleased yet maintained a straight face. Simmons had said he could use the carriage freely during this period, but in front of Dragon Mother, he had to feign reluctance. If it were too easy, who knows if Dragon Mother might take him to find Simmons. "It's not appropriate for me to ask a favor of Young Master Simmons this way..."

Dragon Mother stuffed the perfume into Li Xin's hand. "Young Master Li, Dragon Mother sees you as a dear younger brother. Help your sister out; I won't let you suffer for it."

"Just this once, Dragon Mother."

"No problem. Wait here; I'll go change and freshen up," Dragon Mother hurried off, the staircase trembling as if in an earthquake.

This seemed complicated. She wouldn't go see Simmons, right? She probably wouldn't, but it was best to inform Child.

Child, of course, had no objections. He fully understood this young master's standing with his house's young master. "Rest assured, I'll take care of it."

Dragon Mother soon emerged with her bag, looking as if headed for a gathering. "Child, take Dragon Mother to her destination."

"Certainly, Young Master Li. Miss Long, please step into the carriage," Child smiled, courteously inviting Dragon Mother aboard.

Child's address as "Miss Long" immediately delighted Dragon Mother. She elegantly boarded the carriage, which dipped under her weight.

Upon seeing the perfume in his hand, Li Xin decided to wrap it nicely. In terms of ceremonial feel, Hedan's offerings couldn't compare to those of his past world; this perfume must be worth hundreds of Liras. The mere mention of Simmons made Dragon Mother leave reason behind.

...Was she a romantic thinker?

No quality gift shops were nearby, so Li Xin would have to visit the Holy Grace District. If he'd known, he would've caught a ride in the carriage. This was a small loss.

After wrapping the gift nicely, he returned to the inn with some anticipation in his heart.
