God of Contracts: I Can Trade Anything

Chapter 40: An Arcane Power–Forged Long Blade and the Underground Arena

"Tursos, don't think no one knows what's going on. You can't hide fire in paper forever."

Damian's tone carried a faint threat.

In his mind, all the rumors outside must be true—

Nell Gaston, that old man, was definitely seriously injured.

Otherwise, the Gaston Martial Hall wouldn't be so tense lately, even giving up some business.

And earlier, Bruno accidentally slipped during the fight, which only confirmed Damian's belief that the martial hall's strength had weakened.

Bringing Poison Hands here today to cause trouble was simply his way of checking the hall's true condition.

Tursos was still fierce and cruel, just like before—just more restrained now.

Damian's eyes were sharp, carrying a hint of excitement.

He glanced deeply at Bruno and said softly:

"Sixteen years old, with a perfected breathing method… kid, the Gaston Martial Hall is already declining. Why don't you join our Heavenly Gang? You'll have a much better future with us."

Tursos' expression darkened.

Recruiting his junior right in front of him?

In the next instant, Tursos vanished.

The ground cracked beneath where he had stood, spreading out like a spiderweb.

When he reappeared, he was already in front of Damian.

Tursos' muscles surged, and he threw a punch—

Bang!

His fist slammed into Damian's hurriedly raised arm.

The immense force sent Damian flying, crashing through wall after wall.

From the ruins, Damian slowly stood up and wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth.

"Your punch isn't as dangerous as before, Tursos. What are you afraid of?"

Damian grinned and turned to leave without hesitation.

He had already confirmed what he needed.

Nell Gaston, that old relic, was definitely injured.

Bruno and Tursos had already proven everything.

It was time for the Heavenly Gang to act.

As Damian's figure disappeared down the street, a flash of killing intent passed through Tursos' eyes.

If this had been the old days, he would have at least taken one of Damian's legs—or an arm.

"Alright, everyone, disperse. Bruno, Britney, you two stay."

Tursos waved the trainees away.

He nodded at Bruno and said,

"Good job. You stepped up at the right moment to defend the hall, and you even showed a bit of acting."

"Acting?"

The bean-sprout-sized Britney blinked in confusion.

Tursos chuckled, but then something seemed to come to mind.

The smile on his face slowly faded, replaced by seriousness. He reminded Bruno:

"Bruno, the Heavenly Gang already knows about your talent. You must be careful these days. A sixteen-year-old with a perfected breathing method is someone any faction in Sunset City would fight to recruit."

Bruno nodded.

Not only was his breathing method perfected—his Meditation Technique was also perfected.

But besides a few people in the martial hall, no one else knew about that.

As for joining the Heavenly Gang, Bruno had never even considered it.

Forget Tarnison—just the unclear relationship between the Heavenly Gang and the God-King Cult was enough to make him wary.

After all, the God-King Cult that worshiped Zeus was labeled a cult by the Federation.

"Britney, stop hiding it. Take out your treasures and let Bruno use them for protection," Tursos said, turning toward her.

Hearing that, Bruno's eyes lit up.

When Britney cracked the communicator earlier, he had seen firsthand her skill in Arcane Power alchemy tech.

At the very least, she could make an alchemy handgun strong enough to kill a 6-stage Warlock-Warrior—and the bullets too.

"I'm not hiding anything. Little Junior didn't have enough strength before. If he used those things recklessly, he'd probably hurt himself," Britney muttered in protest.

She turned to look at Bruno.

Bruno quickly called out softly, "Britney."

That one line made Britney whirl around and hurry away.

Soon, she returned carrying a long rectangular case.

"Here, take this. It's an unregistered Arcane Power alchemy long blade. I haven't named it yet. You'd better be careful and don't let the city guards see it, or you'll get into some trouble."

Britney handed the object to Bruno.

Bruno opened it and found a long blade, about 1.2 meters in length.

The blade was crimson red, and there was a small button on the handle.

He gripped the weapon and gave it a light swing—

the sharp edge cut through the air with a crisp slicing sound.

Britney gave a quick explanation.

In the Federation, weapons also had ranks:

Common, Fine, Excellent, Restricted, Forbidden…

Anything below the Restricted rank could be freely used and carried by Warlock-Warriors, Psychic Power Users, Martial Power Users, and even ordinary civilians.

But Restricted and Forbidden weapons required registration, and most users had to belong to the federal government or possess noble status.

Because weapons of this level had enormous destructive power and allowed the user to fight above their rank, they were considered dangerous tools that could affect social stability.

The long blade in Bruno's hand belonged to the Restricted class of Arcane Power alchemy weapons.

In critical moments, it could be fully activated by injecting Celestial Beast blood.

"Celestial Beast blood?"

Bruno's eyes widened instantly.

He hadn't even used Celestial Beast blood yet to speed up the Book of All Things' cooldown.

"Of course. If you have something even more precious, like a Celestial Beast core, you can use that too. But for daily use, just injecting your own Arcane Power is enough," Britney explained.

She also reminded him that, based on the ability of a 3-stage Warlock-Warrior, he should limit activation time to ten minutes per day. Otherwise, it could cause physical damage.

This was why Britney hadn't taken out a weapon of this level for him earlier.

Bruno nodded and took a deep breath.

He gripped the blade and pressed the button on the handle.

Immediately, a powerful suction force spread from the hilt.

Arcane Power from deep within his body poured continuously into the blade.

A faint red glow spread along the weapon's surface—beautiful, eerie, and dangerous.

Bruno lightly drew the blade across the floor.

It felt as if he were slicing tofu with a sharp kitchen knife—no resistance at all.

A deep gash appeared in the ground.

Bruno's eyes lit up.

He loved the weapon instantly.

Even without activation, it was enough for him to fight 3-stage and 4-stage Warlock-Warriors.

"With this thing, plus your perfected Thunderclap Breathing Method and perfected Ten Thousand Hells, you could even kill a careless 5-stage Warlock-Warrior," Tursos said, rubbing his bald head.

"Oh right, Tursos. There should be matching blade techniques in the hall, yes?"

Bruno suddenly thought of this.

He had never fought using weapons before.

He usually relied on Thunderclap Breathing Method's explosive bursts and the perfected Tiger-Wolf Combat Technique.

Now that he had this Arcane Power alchemy blade, it was time to find a blade technique that suited him.

Tursos smiled and said, "Of course. I was just about to bring you there."

"But remember this, little junior. Meditation Technique is the most important thing. Only when your spiritual power reaches a certain level can you become a truly powerful Warlock-Warrior."

"A person's time and energy are limited. You only need to learn the basics of a blade technique—reach Low Rank—and that's enough for actual combat."

Bruno nodded.

He had the Book of All Things.

Time was precious and limited for others, but for him, he only needed to spend some Celestial Beast meat to gain huge amounts of training time.

Soon, Tursos brought Bruno to the library.

Tursos turned a certain book gently, and the floor suddenly split open, revealing a hidden chamber beneath.

He stepped inside and took out three books:

Thunderclap Blade Technique,

Moon-Cleaving Blade Technique,

and Raging Tides Blade Technique.

"The Thunderclap Blade Technique matches the Thunderclap Breathing Method. Little junior, I suggest you choose this one. It will be much easier for you to start with, and reaching Low Rank won't take long," Tursos said seriously.

Bruno had no objections—he thought the same.

He opened the Thunderclap Blade Technique and glanced through it.

The strange, hard-to-understand descriptions and the confusing training diagrams made him take a deep breath.

"Well? I told you—it's simpler than the others," Tursos said with a grin.

Bruno nodded calmly, though the truth was he barely understood anything at all.

But that didn't matter.

With the Book of All Things, he could trade for someone else's training time and research.

He could definitely push the Thunderclap Blade Technique to High Rank, maybe even Perfection!

And once he paired that with his Arcane Power alchemy long blade, he would become far stronger.

The problem was… he didn't have much Celestial Beast meat left.

That seriously limited his use of the Book of All Things.

Right—he could just ask Tursos!

Bruno quickly asked if Celestial Beast meat could be bought at Bar No. 19.

Tursos nodded.

"Yes, Celestial Beast meat can improve a Warlock-Warrior's training speed. But the price has gone up a lot lately. It's not very cost-effective."

"Little junior, if you really need Celestial Beast meat right now, I suggest you go to the underground arena run by Stanford Count."

Underground arena?

Run by Stanford Count?

Bruno felt hope spark instantly within him.
