God of Contracts: I Can Trade Anything

Chapter 53: The Bet Bruno's Confidence

Martial Power User?

Bruno remembered. In this world, not everyone could become a Warlock-Warrior. Many people didn't have the talent for Meditation Technique or lacked the right insight, but they had strong physical foundations.

So, these people focused purely on cultivating their breathing techniques, strengthening their bodies, and mastering various combat skills. They were known as Martial Power Users.

Generally speaking, Martial Power Users weren't as strong as Warlock-Warriors. However, when Warlock-Warrior levels were still low, Meditation Technique only enhanced strength to a limited degree. Martial Power Users, with their well-honed physiques, still had some advantage.

Blood Wolf was a problem that needed solving, or it would seriously affect profits.

But Bruno was more concerned about Herdman Viscount. He asked, "Has Jake Herdman appeared in person?"

Scarlett shook her head and replied, "Not yet. But ever since Blood Wolf started fighting, there have been many large bets placed on him to win."

"We've already lost a lot of money."

Lost money?

Bruno immediately grew a bit uneasy.

After all, according to what Elena had told him, as long as the underground fight business in Districts 8 and 9 remained about the same as it was before the merger, it would be enough.

Bruno had been hoping to make some extra profit, but he hadn't expected that, right after taking over, they were already losing money.

He took a deep breath and asked, "How much have we lost?"

Blake answered directly, "4,230 gold coins. Normally, people from District 3 don't have that much capital to bet with."

"We lowered the odds to try to reduce the losses, but this method only works for a short time. Over the long term, it just drives customers away."

Over four thousand gold coins?

Bruno's eyes narrowed. Herdman Viscount had taken nearly five thousand gold coins from his business!

Five thousand gold coins. That could buy so much Celestial Beast meat, or allow for so many uses of the Book of All Things!

"Jake Herdman, Blood Wolf," Bruno whispered under his breath.

He thought for a moment and then asked directly, "According to the rules, can a Warlock-Warrior step in and fight Blood Wolf?"

Bruno had initially planned to observe the operations here before gradually taking control.

But plans change. If he kept going the same way, they'd lose even more money!

Evan immediately responded, "Anyone at 5th stage or below can fight. Early on, the difference between Martial Power Users and Warlock-Warriors isn't very big. But Blood Wolf is very strong, and his fighting style is reckless. It's hard for us to find a suitable Warlock-Warrior to send into the ring."

Scarlett nodded, also agreeing that it was difficult to find suitable outside help for either the underground arena or the underground fights.

In these kinds of battles, every match drained potential. Even if you won, there were always unavoidable hidden injuries left behind.

Unless a Warlock-Warrior was at their wit's end, very few would risk it.

And compared to someone like Blood Wolf, who had survived multiple life-and-death battles, those Warlock-Warriors from the martial arts hall or Sunset City University lacked enough combat experience to stand a chance against him.

Bruno's eyes lit up when he heard this. In his plan, gaining powerful combat experience from trades was necessary.

For now, the best trading partners for Bruno would be those who had survived long periods of life-or-death combat.

He could investigate later, whether in the underground arena or the underground fights of District 9 and District 8, if there were any powerful individuals who were no longer able to fight.

That wasn't something to rush, though. It would be better to stabilize the business first, and then move forward with that plan.

Suddenly, a crisp round of applause came from the door of the bar.

A young man with bright red hair, in his twenties, slowly walked into the bar.

Behind him was a tall figure.

Jake Herdman!

"I didn't expect this," the young man said with an arrogant grin. "You still haven't given up. I've already spread the word. Tonight, I'll be fighting again. Hope you're all ready for it."

Scarlett leaned in and whispered into Bruno's ear, "This is Blood Wolf, and the person behind him is..."

Before she could finish, Bruno waved his hand, ignoring Blood Wolf's taunts, and focused on the tall figure, saying, "Viscount, how nice of you to make time to visit. Did you get word that I would be here and come to see me on purpose?"

At these words, Blake, Jessica, and Evan's expressions shifted slightly.

Scarlett stared at Bruno in surprise, not expecting the sixteen-year-old to react so quickly.

The appearance of Jake Herdman, Viscount, was no coincidence. Someone must have leaked Bruno's presence.

Elena had already told her that someone had secretly sided with Jake Herdman.

"Well, well, Bruno," Viscount Herdman said calmly. "I told you last time, you'd better apologize to Philip."

He walked slowly to Bruno's side, still with a composed air, and continued, "I never expected Gaston Martial Arts Hall to let a brat like you take over the business here. It really... surprises me."

Bruno chuckled. Jake Herdman still wasn't thinking straight, expecting him to apologize to Philip.

How did someone like this even become a Viscount?

Other than inheritance, Bruno couldn't think of any other reason.

"The Black Blood Bar isn't open yet. If you want to drink, you'll have to wait until evening," Bruno said, his tone flat.

Jake Herdman glanced at Blood Wolf.

Blood Wolf immediately stepped forward, standing in front of Bruno with his chin held high. He spoke provocatively, "Kid, I hope you'll be here tonight. Just don't cry when you see what's coming."

"And if you keep the bets going, be prepared to go bankrupt."

Bruno fought the urge to release a Great Elder-level God Realm attack and was about to retaliate when Jake Herdman spoke again.

"Philip's been locked up in his room since you ambushed him last time. Go apologize to him, get him back on his feet, and I can give Black Blood Bar a decent end."

Bruno paused. He had only made a small move last time, nothing that would have seriously harmed Philip. The guy had already fallen into a slump?

Was he really that fragile?

"I'm curious, does Stanford Count know about your actions?" Bruno asked, locking eyes with Jake Herdman.

The arrogant Viscount hesitated for a moment but then said, "These little things, Count doesn't care about them."

At that moment, Bruno understood. So, Jake Herdman was just doing whatever he wanted and looking for trouble!

When Master Nell took him to meet the Count, Bruno knew his master had given up some of his interests.

In fact, if they sent Master Nell to talk to Stanford Count, the current problem could be solved completely. But that would feel a bit cowardly, and besides, Bruno needed the right opportunity to prove himself.

So, Bruno simply said, "Since you want to play, I'll play along. The bar will open as usual tonight, and I won't stop anyone from betting. The odds will stay the same."

In an instant, Scarlett, Blake, and Evan froze. Even Jessica's large chest jiggled from the shock.

"Master Bruno, you..." Jessica started, but Scarlett quickly cut her off.

When there were outsiders around, it was best not to question any of Bruno's decisions.

"Hahaha, you really are young, Bruno. I hope you keep your word. Let's go," Jake Herdman laughed loudly.

Bruno shrugged indifferently, spreading his hands. "Wait, since we're playing, let's play big."

Herdman Viscount stopped in his tracks, thought for a moment, and said, "Alright, how do you want to play?"

"If Blood Wolf wins, I'll apologize. But if he loses..."

Herdman asked bluntly, "What do you want?"

"Celestial Beast meat, Celestial Beast blood," Bruno replied, getting straight to the point.

Without hesitation, Herdman nodded and agreed, saying, "No problem, I can give you 100g of Celestial Beast meat."

"That's too little. I want 300g of Celestial Beast meat and 200g of Celestial Beast blood," Bruno stated, laying out his demand.

Herdman refused. Those items were precious to him, especially at this stage, as the price of Celestial Beast blood and meat had skyrocketed. Even he didn't have much stock left.

Bruno, however, remained calm and said, "Tonight, I'll fight myself."

Herdman suddenly looked up. This was the perfect opportunity for him.

Blood Wolf was a seasoned fighter, someone who had survived countless life-and-death battles. Even though Bruno was Nell's disciple, he had only recently joined the martial arts hall. Just a few months ago, Bruno had been an ordinary person!

"150g of Celestial Beast meat, 100g of Celestial Beast blood. Tonight, you fight Blood Wolf, and I'll be there in person," Herdman finally offered.

Bruno sighed deeply, nodded, and only smiled after Herdman and Blood Wolf left.

150g of Celestial Beast meat, 100g of Celestial Beast blood—those were the key things he needed!

He hadn't expected that taking over the underground fight business would come with such an unexpected bonus.

But the people at Black Blood Bar immediately grew anxious.

Blake muttered to himself, "This is it, it's all over. If the odds stay normal, after tonight, we'll be finished."

Evan adjusted his glasses and asked, "Master, may I ask what your current strength is?"

"4th stage Warlock-Warrior," Bruno answered directly.

Silence. Complete silence.

Everyone shut their mouths, unsure of what to say next.

Even Scarlett, at this moment, felt a wave of despair. She really wanted to contact Elena and ask for advice on what to do.

Bruno picked up his drink from the bar, gently swirling it, and continued, "But by tonight, I should be a 5th stage Warlock-Warrior."
