Dragon of Catastrophe

Chapter 124: Those Who Obey Live Those Who Defy Die!

One hundred kilometers north of Black King City.

A city belonging to a viscount, within the manor.

Our Lord Viscount is lying on a beast skin sofa, listening to the elegant notes slowly emerging from the Magic Speaker, gently humming a tune, incredibly at ease.

But suddenly.

"Knock knock knock"

A knocking sound echoed from outside the door.

This made Lord Viscount furrow his brow, his tone somewhat unfriendly as he shouted:

"Didn't I say not to disturb me as we approach noon?"

"Lord Viscount! There's a matter that must be reported to you. I... I dare not make decisions on my own, so I've come to see you."

The voice outside was a bit cautious.

"Tsk! Useless fellows! Fine! Come in then!"

The viscount said discontentedly.

The room door was opened, and a guard in leather armor, a professional, slowly walked in.

"Speak, what exactly is the matter? If it's just a trivial thing, you'll regret coming to see me at this time!"

The viscount's eyes were sinister.

"Lord Viscount! It's a major issue! Just now, a soldier claiming to be from Black King City delivered a message, saying that in two months, we are to go to Black King City to discuss important matters. If we do not go, the Black King will descend and cause the entire city to perish!"

The professional guard said tremblingly, rubbing the sweat off his forehead as he spoke, evidently very nervous.

"What? Black King City? Wasn't it retaken by the actions of the Holy Envoy and Sword Saint, and the Black King fled without a trace? Where does he get the nerve to return? Are you joking with me? Get out!"

Lord Viscount shouted, angry-faced.

"Lord Viscount, the messenger soldier says the Black King has returned and turned into a monster countless times more terrifying than three years ago, perhaps... even the Holy Envoy and Sword Saint..."

"Get out! Get away from me! Such pitiful lies! Do you think I'll believe them? Out!"

The viscount was furious, immediately picking up the teacup from the cabinet beside the sofa and throwing it forcefully at the professional guard!

Crash!

The teacup was dodged by the guard, smashing on the ground.

The guard hurriedly bowed and retreated: "I'll take my leave immediately, Lord Viscount, please don't be angry."

The guard slowly retreated, leaving the room.

Quickly arriving at the castle gate, he said to a sub-human soldier: "Lord Viscount doesn't believe your words, won't meet with you."

"Is that so? It was expected.

But I'm only here to convey the message this time; if Lord Viscount doesn't believe it, there's nothing I can do, so I'll take my leave."

The soldier nodded, quickly saying farewell and leaving.

Many cities were experiencing similar events.

One day, two days, several days passed, and nothing strange happened to these territories.

Until...

Boom boom boom! Boom boom boom!

"Damn it! Who's there again? Didn't I tell you!! Not to find me at noon! Do you want to die?"

Still the same town, the same room, the same viscount roared angrily.

"Lord Viscount! It's terrible! Terrible news! Laine Royal Capital has perished! His Majesty the King has been killed!"

The voice outside shouted.

This sentence directly frightened Lord Viscount within the room to shiver all over, tumbling from the beast skin sofa.

Then he stammered and shouted: "Get in! Get in here!"

The door swung open, with the guard hurriedly helping Lord Viscount up, then saying:

"Suddenly, someone appeared at the city's tavern claiming to be from Laine Royal City, saying the entire city was eradicated by the Red-eyed Black King! Of the tens of thousands of inhabitants in the Royal City, only a few thousand escaped! Even His Majesty the King is dead!"

"This... how is this possible!? You idiot! Have you verified the truth of this news?"

Lord Viscount stammered, but immediately grasped the guard's arm, like clutching at a lifeline, shouting loudly.

"I... I have confirmed it! Sent out a few knights to go check the Royal City, and... those knights said the Royal City has vanished... exactly as that person described!"

"What? How is this possible? We previously even... ugh~"

The viscount recalled previously driving away the soldier claiming to be from Black King City, and in his agitation, his body spasmed, fainting away.

When dusk fell.

Lord Viscount finally woke up faintly.

"No! I still can't completely believe such absurdity! I must personally verify it! Someone! Prepare a horse for me! I'm going to the Royal Capital!"

He shouted, departing overnight on that same evening.

Days later, finally arriving at the former Royal Capital.

Facing the sight extending infinitely.

A level ground, even slightly sunken, the viscount was utterly indifferent:

"The Royal Capital? Where is that enormous Royal Capital! A capital where tens of thousands lived... how can it be simply gone? Did I come to the wrong place?"

Lord Viscount's spine chilled, cold sweat streaming down his back.

A few coachmen also shivered:

"No, definitely no mistake on the road, but why..."

"What on earth happened here? Approach... approach more closely!"

Lord Viscount finished speaking, and the horses advanced further.

Soon, they reached what would have been the city wall, now the edge of a gigantic crater!

Facing this ten kilometers in diameter, sunken abyss.

Lord Viscount only felt his knees go weak, falling to the ground with a thud, shouting:

"Heavens! What happened here? How does such a large Royal Capital disappear? Who will tell me!"

"The Red-eyed Black King... truly possesses such terrifying power... I... can hardly believe it."
