The Necromancer's Fourth Catastrophe

Chapter 68: Gana

Fang Ka was a bit confused upon hearing this, but still followed the merfolk towards the beach where Xia Lin was located.

He quickly arrived at the beach where Xia Lin was.

Soon, he saw Xia Lin in the water not far away.

Fang Ka stopped on the beach and called out to Xia Lin in the water in the distance: "Xia Lin, what exactly did you want to see me about? I heard you made some unusual discoveries? What exactly did you discover?"

At this point, Fang Ka glanced at the adult merfolk beside him.

Before Xia Lin could speak, Noel suddenly emerged from the water beside her.

Noel then interrupted, "Today, two of our adolescent clan members were bored and swam around the island's coastal waters. When they got to the north, they encountered a resistance."

"This resistance prevented them from moving forward, but although they couldn't continue, they could see what was beyond the resistance."

Noel's expression turned quite serious: "They discovered traces of the Gana clan."

Upon hearing Noel's words, Fang Ka not only raised his eyebrows.

The Gana and merfolk, fishmen, and sea elves are among the Four Great Intelligent Races of the Ocean.

Like fishmen, the Gana Race are born as amphibians.

However, they have one major difference from fishmen.

Fishmen love the ocean and particularly dislike land; they only go ashore when absolutely necessary.

The Gana Race, besides loving the ocean, also has a strong passion for land.

The Gana Race occupies many islands in the ocean and often invades the Eastern and Western Continents on a large scale, making them extremely unpopular.

Unlike the naturally handsome and beautiful merfolk, the Gana Race is ugly, with dark red skin, humanoid bodies, octopus-like heads without tentacles, covered with fish-like features, and ugly fins on their backs and arms.

Just seeing one could make a person quite uncomfortable.

In addition, the Gana Race is extremely belligerent, frequently invading the other three intelligent sea races along with large-scale invasions of the Eastern and Western continents.

Despite attracting so much hatred, they've managed to thrive so well in the ocean due to several factors.

First, they are exceptionally prolific, with an astonishing birth rate.

Second, with their large population, they have many advanced combatants.

For these reasons, the Gana Race is known as the 'tumor of the ocean'.

Therefore, hearing from Noel that merfolk had discovered signs of the Gana Race near the coast made Fang Ka cautious.

But then he thought of a problem: the entire coastal area of the island was sealed by a magic array, making it impossible to enter or exit. Yet, Noel mentioned those Gana seemed to be obstructed by a layer of resistance...

Could it be that Kain deliberately kept them near the coast?

At this moment, Fang Ka suddenly remembered that when he was seven, Kain seemed to have used some dark red-skinned flesh in his alchemical experiments throughout that year.

Back then, because it had been processed by Kain, it was hard to identify, and Fang Ka never associated it with the Gana. After all, many animals also have dark red skin.

Now thinking back, it's likely it was processed Gana flesh.

In other words, these Gana might have been captured and kept by Kain that year.

They were likely left because they could still be useful or were restricted by the magic array, posing no threat, so they were left alone...

Fang Ka had a rough idea in his mind and calmly asked Xia Lin: "Did both of you go over and see?"

Xia Lin nodded gently: "Noel and I have both gone to see."

"Those Gana appear to be trapped by a magic array and can only operate within that coastal area."

"However, the magic array does not block perception, so the Gana inside have likely discovered us, and when we got closer, I also detected three magic wave fluctuations."

"According to my perception, there is one Low Tier Mage at the Perfection Stage, one Low Tier Mage at the Entry Stage, and one Middle Tier Mage at the Advanced Stage."

"Additionally, the Gana's fertility is extremely strong, so their numbers are likely staggering."

Fang Ka squinted slightly, admittedly tempted.

The corpses of these mages could be used by players to give birth to new mage players, and the ordinary Gana could be used to train players, honing combat skills.

Fang Ka never thought of subduing these Gana because they are unlike the merfolk. Kain owed a life-saving debt to these merfolk, but he likely bore a deep hatred for these Gana.

Moreover, the Gana are truly nauseating; having them around all the time would kill your appetite.

And the Gana are aggressive and greedy, perfect for causing trouble.

Thus, these Gana need to be eradicated, not subdued.

However, one must still be cautious. High Tier Mages do not emit magic waves unless they use magic, so they cannot be detected easily.

Although it's highly unlikely there are High Tier Mages among them, it's not zero, so caution is warranted to avoid rash actions.

With this in mind, he decided to go see for himself to check what kind of magic array was trapping those Gana and whether it was one of the magic arrays within the Underground Library.

Besides being deeply involved in alchemy, Kain also had substantial knowledge in magic arrays. Making a magic array affect only a certain area is completely doable.

Then, Fang Ka's eyes lingered on Xia Lin for a moment before he slowly spoke: "These Gana were likely captured during experiments by Master Kain. Their magic array can't be broken, or they would have escaped by now."

"Rest assured, I'll take a look."

Upon hearing Fang Ka's words, Xia Lin spoke: "I feel I'm about to break through to a High Tier Mage. If you need my help, Lord Fang Ka, just let me know."

Noel playfully stuck out her tongue at Fang Ka: "I'm also about to break through to a High Tier Knight, Lord Fang Ka. If you need anything, just tell me! And…could I get an extra serving of food?"

"I'll definitely be at your service first, Lord Fang Ka!"

Taking a glance at cute Noel, Fang Ka withdrew his gaze.

This was clearly someone whose stomach had been won over.

He smiled slightly: "Of course, that's not a problem at all. I'll mention it to my subordinates when we return."

Noel clenched her little fists excitedly and waved them: "Thank you so much, Lord Fang Ka."

Fang Ka nodded toward the two, said nothing more, and stepped towards the north, planning to inspect closely.

He intended to check out what was going on with the magic array enclosing those Gana.

Fang Ka walked optimistically, reaching the northern edge of the island within half an hour.
