The Necromancer's Fourth Catastrophe

Chapter 100: The Nightmare Beast Arrives

Until a player appeared near the beach, Fang Ka reluctantly paused his alchemy experiment narration.

Evidently, there was a player coming to submit a Magic Potion for payment, but failing to find him at the Ancient Castle, came to the beach to find him.

After all, he was usually only in these two places.

"Alright, let's stop here for today. I'll continue telling you another day when I have time. Of course, in the future, when you have delved deeper into the Alchemy Domain, you could also try experimenting with some of your ideas on your own."

"I've learned a lot, Mentor Fang Ka, thank you so much. Your lecture was truly fascinating. I will surely work harder on my Alchemy Knowledge in the future." Xia Lin nodded vigorously at Fang Ka, clenched her fist and cheered herself on.

Fang Ka reached out and ruffled Xia Lin's hair, then stood up and walked towards the distance, "I'll see you again tomorrow evening."

The next two days passed in an uneventful manner.

Usually lying on a deck chair meditating, waiting for players to submit Magic Potions, then having an adult merfolk deliver the Magic Potions to Xia Lin for refining, symbolically checking them himself and then sending them to the Divine Hall.

In the evenings, he would visit the beach once, help clarify Xia Lin's doubts, and supervise her a little.

This noon, the third batch of newbie players approached him, informing him that the Sacrificial Altar was finally completed and invited him to inspect it.

Fang Ka had been watching the players' building progress from a distance these days. With their continuous day-and-night work and the tireless nature of the skeletons, the construction progress was quite optimistic.

Didn't expect it to be completely finished now.

This Sacrificial Altar, apart from being a place where new players would make appearances in the future, would usually serve as his alchemy experimentation site, so naturally, he had to inspect it.

He motioned for the players to lead, then stepped towards the Sacrificial Altar.

The Sacrificial Altar was located between the Divine Hall and the Ancient Castle, covering a large area.

Upon reaching the entrance of the Sacrificial Altar, Fang Ka was slightly surprised because the design of this gate was incredibly artistic.

Entering the inner part of the Sacrificial Altar, Fang Ka scanned the area with his eyes.

At the very center of the Sacrificial Altar, there was a circular sacrificial platform, with layers of steps extending upwards from the bottom.

Apart from the sacrificial platform, the other areas within the enclosing walls were paved with green bricks, giving a sense of vastness.

Fang Ka made his way to the sacrificial platform.

This place was quite exquisite; all sorts of bizarre patterns were carved on the entire platform, and at the very center, there was a lifelike giant skull, showing considerable dedication.

The platform's area was quite substantial; it could easily accommodate thousands of corpses.

The height of the platform was the same as the height of the enclosing walls of the Sacrificial Altar. Standing at the edge of the platform, one could take in the scene of the Sacrificial Altar at a glance.

Fang Ka was perfectly satisfied. The craftsmanship of these players was truly impeccable.

So he returned to the outside of the Sacrificial Altar and then settled the reward for the construction task for the players.

The newbie players who received their rewards seemed extremely excited because they could finally buy what they wanted.

Fang Ka, too lazy to bother with these players who were so excited they were almost jumping, immediately issued an order through the Soul Contract prohibiting these players from entering the Sacrificial Altar, then returned to the Ancient Castle to continue his meditation.

Time always flies quickly, and in the blink of an eye, the day Xia Lin and he agreed upon arrived.

According to Xia Lin, she could perfectly master the 'Nightmare Beast Contract' today.

Fang Ka planned to find Xia Lin in the evening to have a good look.

Unexpectedly, in the morning, a wave of magic fluctuation suddenly came from the beach, followed closely by a familiar roar from that direction.

This roar was too familiar to Fang Ka; it was precisely the roar of a Nightmare Beast.

"Emmmmm..." Fang Ka pondered slightly, silently got up from the deck chair, and walked towards the beach.

As soon as he reached the beach, Fang Ka saw a familiar creature. This creature was roughly the size of an adult elephant, resembling a tiger, but instead of fur, it had black scale armor.

The head was similar to a wolf's, with a single curved horn growing from the center of its forehead.

Its tail had as many as nine, resembling a monkey's, but similarly covered in black scale armor like the body.

There were two pairs of black fleshy wings on either side of it.

At this moment, it was hovering at low altitude near the sea, with two merfolk on its back, Xia Lin and Noel.

Xia Lin was sitting quietly cross-legged, while Noel was excitedly waving her fish tail while gripping the back of the Nightmare Beast with her hands.

At this point, Xia Lin obviously noticed Fang Ka arriving at the beach and hurriedly controlled the Nightmare Beast to descend towards Fang Ka.

"Mentor Fang Ka!" Under Xia Lin's control, the Nightmare Beast landed steadily not far in front of Fang Ka, and Xia Lin immediately called out to Fang Ka.

Seated behind her, Noel waved at Fang Ka as well, her face still filled with excitement.

Fang Ka glanced at the Nightmare Beast and then focused his gaze on Xia Lin: "Xia Lin, you are more impressive than I imagined, well done."

Xia Lin immediately bowed her head shyly: "Mentor Fang Ka, I still have much to improve."

Hearing this, Fang Ka chuckled: "Since you have successfully summoned and contracted the Nightmare Beast, I should also tell you some related things."

"You should be able to feel it, right? Apart from the contract, there's also an additional Soul Mark?"

Xia Lin immediately nodded: "That's right, Mentor Fang Ka."

Fang Ka continued: "The Nightmare Beast is an advanced undead creature from the Netherworld. Contracting such creatures adds an additional Soul Mark, and an entry-level high-tier Mage can have a maximum of five Soul Marks."

"Which means, you can only contract five advanced undead creatures."

"If you hit the limit, you would have to wait until this advanced undead creature is destroyed, or you actively terminate the contract, to free up space."

Xia Lin suddenly realized: "I see, Mentor Fang Ka, no wonder I felt like this Soul Mark seemed to be restricting something."

Fang Ka chuckled at her: "I won't say much else; you should have sensed everything from the contract."

Noel immediately interjected: "Lord Fang Ka, when can I go off the island to fight?"

Fang Ka glanced helplessly at Noel and then replied, "I need to teach Xia Lin a Magic Array, and once she sets it up, you can set out."

Hearing this, Xia Lin asked curiously: "A Magic Array? What kind of Magic Array?"

Fang Ka took out two thumb-sized smooth beads from his pocket.

These two beads were entirely black, seemingly nothing out of the ordinary.

Fang Ka glanced at the beads in his hand and then said, "It's an advanced dark element Magic Array. Since you can perfectly master the Nightmare Beast Contract, setting up this Magic Array shouldn't be too difficult for you."
