Purgatory.
Inside the white browed elder's house.
The old man looked curiously at Maxwell as his white brows scrunched up. He then mumbled to himself with a puzzled expression: "Impossible, simply impossible. No matter how much of a genius he is, there's no way he can level up two levels in a mere six hours."
Six hours, two levels!
Even the human race's number one genius, Peter Wesely, wasn't able to accomplish this.
Not to mention Peter, there wasn't a single human in the entire history of the world capable of accomplishing this!
Cultivating and levelling up a single level was already extremely difficult. But this freak in front of him levelled up two levels in six hours. Was he still even human?
Levelling up was like playing a game for him?
Or did his eyesight go bad, and he's actually looking at a ghost?
Seeing how the old man was staring at him strangely for so long, Maxwell started unconsciously taking steps backwards before saying, "Old man, what are you doing? You know that I'm no homo, right?"
The white browed elder cleared his throat. He couldn't endure the curiosity anymore and asked, "Kid, how did you do it?"
"It's very simple."
"I accomplished it by killing them." Maxwell chuckled and naturally wouldn't explain that he had a gaming system inside him. This was something he would never tell anyone because such a secret was too huge.
The old man rolled his eyes at Maxwell.
Maxwell smiled and asked, "Do you have anything else, old man? If there's nothing else, I still have to quickly make more level-ups."
There were still a lot of undying guards.
They were all XP and mana!
Wasting time here was no different from wasting your life away.
Maxwell was feeling a surge of emotions. Ever since he transmigrated to this new world, he has never experienced such a refreshed feeling. And levelling at this place made him feel simply beyond amazing!
Looking outside at the sea of undying guards, Maxwell was a little impatient to get back out there.
The old man exhaled softly before saying, "Of course, I have my reasons for having you come back. I have decided to pass the dispelling undying technique to you, but you have to promise that it can never be passed to a third person. This also includes the crafting undying technique!"
After saying that, the old man looked at Maxwell in a serious manner.
Maxwell was astonished by this and immediately became happy. He then said, "I hereby swear to the heavens that I will never pass the technique to another person."
Maxwell then said to himself, "Even if I want to pass this technique to someone else, there's no way I can accomplish it anyway."
Maxwell also wanted to pass his cultivation techniques to Constantine, but whenever he tried to send them out through his intent, they would just disappear. The way he gained techniques was different to how people of the world trained, so he was probably the only one in the world to cultivate like this.
According to the video game terminology, his techniques were non-tradable and cannot be dropped!
He can only use it himself.
"Good! You must listen carefully to the following mantra..." The old man said seriously out loud before saying inside his heart, "To all the ancestors of the Gnome race: To kill the villainous traitor Ferris Krane, I will have to be unfilial. This person before me is of moral character and is kind-hearted, and also a great benefactor of the Gnome race. I hope that the ancestors will understand why I'm doing this."
The old man known as Ludwick prayed in his heart before glancing left and right. After ascertaining that no one was around, he then started narrating to Maxwell about the technique.
Maxwell listened carefully to every single word said.
Ten minutes later, the system gave off a notification tone.
"Crackle!"
"Congratulations to player Maxwell Gillette for cultivating the Dispelling Undying Technique!"
Maxwell was secretly overjoyed. From here on out, he would be able to make better use of his Crafting Undying Technique. Especially the one called Ecstasy undying; he will definitely get proficient in that and make good use of it. Maxwell's thought had somehow started becoming perverted...
He was thinking how, once he activated that specific undying technique, wouldn't his victim die from pleasure if he couldn't stop it?
This, thinking about one's manhood overexhausted until it shrivelled up, Maxwell felt a sudden chill on the back of his neck. Now that he had the dispelling undying technique, such a thing would no longer need to be feared.
"Have you remembered everything clearly?" The old man asked.
Maxwell nodded: "Ehn!"
Ludwick looked seriously at Maxwell and asked with doubt: "You managed to remember everything even though I've only narrated it once? Apart from being fast at cultivation level-ups, could your comprehension speed also be extremely fast? Are you even considered human?"
Maxwell grinned and said, "There's nothing I can do about it. When one is born good-looking like me, learning things naturally comes faster as well. Old man, if you don't believe me, you can teach me a few more of your Gnome race's forbidden arts and see if I can memorise all of them."
"Screw you!"
"You damn kid, quit trying to trick me out of any martial techniques mantras." Ludwick no longer suspected Maxwell upon seeing his current expression. His heart was filled with shock as he said to himself, "Sure enough, this kid is truly not ordinary. Maybe he can really save our race, and perhaps... He may really be the person mentioned in the prophecy!"
"I really wish this were true!"
Ludwick started sighing in his heart.
"Okay then!"
"I've already passed the dispelling undying technique to you, so when do you plan on saving those two?" Helplessly, the old man asked.
It wouldn't be too difficult to save them with Maxwell's current spiritual strength.
The old man thought Maxwell would begin immediately, but Maxwell was lost in thought before asking: "Old man, do you know when Ferris will come down again to look for you?"
Ludwick replied: "Seven days later will be when our race worships the heavens. Before the day of worship, he will definitely come down to take your three away. Why are you asking about this? And what does this have to do with saving those two?"
"The undying insect inside them isn't as strong as yours, but you still shouldn't delay it for too long. The longer you drag it out, the harder it will be to remove it."
Maxwell nodded: "I understand."
Immediately after, Maxwell quickly ran out of the house to continue killing in the corpse sea. A series of Raining Fire Attacks descended, and a whole bunch of corpses toppled over.
"Bam!"
The whole Purgatory was enveloped in the sounds of Hail.
Ludwick was dumbfounded as he couldn't figure out what Maxwell was doing. Watching Maxwell's demon-like figure, he started mumbling to himself: "What on earth is this kid up to? How come I can't figure it out at all?"
Apart from killing all these incomplete, undying guards, Maxwell also had to do something very important. Raise the level of the dispelling undying technique.
There's a certain danger involved when dispelling undying insects.
And it was dangerous for both parties.
Since his dispelling undying technique level was so low, Maxwell didn't dare to save them yet. Only when he had enough confidence would he attempt it, or else he'd rather not even try.
The corpse sea was an environment that satisfied his needs. Each of these zombies here had an undying insect inside their brains and was the ideal test subject to practice the dispelling undying technique. Before the next round of Raining Fire Attack descended, Maxwell's spiritual energy started moving to perform his dispelling undying technique.
"Crackle!"
"Failure!"
"Crackle!"
"Success! Proficiency rate +2."
There were successes, and there were failures; the whole process was unpredictable.
Maxwell was rather anxious in his heart because seven days were just too short. If he could dispel the undying insect poison in those two, the chance of killing Ferris would increase quite a bit. That's why Maxwell was trying to save them.
Someone at the peak of the Diamond rank was simply too strong.
He needed the help of those two!
---
After a full night and day, Maxwell didn't stop his training or pause to rest.
He had finally levelled the dispelling undying technique to level 3!
His rate of success had reached 60%, and he had reached a 100% success rate when dispelling bronze rank undying insects!
The moment he levelled up, he rushed towards the direction of the white browed elder's house.
Off at a distance, Maxwell observed the white browed elder lying on the ground covered in blood. Next to him was a large, burly-looking guy with a pair of hammers, angrily screaming at the old man.
The corner of Maxwell's eye twitched as killing intent was hiddenly building up within him.
