Chapter 118: He’s Not

"Please leave," Lucas continued, turning his face away. "I want to rest." He lay down on the bed.

Silence.

The Baroness stared at his back for a long time, as if she wanted to say something more. But in the end, she stood up.

"…Very well," she said softly. "Get some rest."

Her footsteps faded away. The door closed with a gentle sound.

Lucas slowly opened his eyes.

The door closed slowly.

The Baroness took two steps away — then stopped.

Silvara was still standing in the corridor, her back straight, hands neatly folded in front of her. She looked as though she was about to leave, yet clearly hesitated.

The Baroness turned.

Without saying a word, she took Silvara's hand and gently pulled her a short distance away from the bedroom door.

"Silvara," she said softly. "Why… why did you choose Lucian?"

Silvara blinked.

The Baroness continued, her voice not angry— rather, it sounded confused.

"I… it's not that I hate my own child," she said slowly. "But he… and you…"

The sentence trailed off.

Silvara understood immediately.

It must be because of what just happened.

She lowered her head at once. "My Lady, it's not what you think."

The Baroness looked at her, waiting.

"I was only… a little irritated," Silvara continued honestly. "The Young Master was far too relaxed when his condition was clearly not good. So I used a small wind spell to tease him."

She bowed her head even deeper. "I apologize for being disrespectful to the Young Master."

A few seconds of silence passed.

Then the Baroness let out a small laugh.

"Oh dear…" she said, shaking her head lightly. "Thank goodness. I thought you had truly lost your senses."

Silvara lifted her head, startled.

The Baroness gently rubbed Silvara's head, as if she were her own child. "So the fierce girl can play jests now, huh."

Silvara fell silent. Her cheeks warmed slightly.

"…I'm sorry, My Lady."

The Baroness smiled. "It's fine. As long as you know your limits."

She released Silvara's hand. "You may rest. Lucian doesn't need guarding. He isn't going anywhere."

"Yes," Silvara replied quickly, bowing respectfully.

The Baroness then walked away, moving down the corridor toward the Baron's study.

---

Inside the study, the Baron sat motionless behind his desk, his eyes fixed on the documents in front of him. Yet his fingers did not move. His thoughts were clearly elsewhere.

The Baroness entered without making much noise.

"You look overly focused," she said. "What is it?"

The Baron let out a quiet breath, then raised his face.

"It seems," he said slowly, "that something is wrong with our child."

The two parents, both possessing immensely powerful combat abilities, continued their discussion.

Meanwhile, Lucas had already lain down, wanting to rest from the series of events filled with a strange mix of emotions.

The scattered fragments of what had happened felt like the ingredient list of an unhealthy snack — bad for his mental health. The System did not appear either. He slept. Deeply. He woke up only when Liona brought him food. After eating, he went back to sleep again, much like a modern person in general.

The next morning, he woke up in high spirits. Ready to head to the fields.

"Fuck everything. Let's do some work!"

He went to the bathroom, stretched his body, and prepared to leave, walking through the manor's corridor.

Silvara was already standing in front of the manor when Lucas stepped out. Her posture was upright as usual, but her gaze went straight to him.

"You're already refreshed?" she asked shortly. "Strange. People who nearly collapse are usually not this energetic."

Lucas grinned. "Hey, come on. That's good news, isn't it?"

Silvara snorted softly. "Heading to a tomato field with that much enthusiasm… it really makes no sense."

Nearby, Liona already looked cheerful. She stood beside the horse-drawn carriage, her eyes sparkling.

"Are we leaving now?" she asked eagerly.

Lucas was about to nod when—

"Lucian."

The voice came from behind.

Lucas clicked his tongue inwardly. Ah, she probably going to give me money again.

He turned around.

But it wasn't just the Baroness standing there. The Baron was there as well, standing straight with an expression that was hard to read.

"My son," the Baron said. "Let us speak for a moment."

The tone made Lucas stop mid-step. Not an order, but clearly not a light request either.

The Baroness stepped forward first. "Let's go inside a bit."

They walked a few steps back into the manor, far enough from the carriage and the servants. Silvara and Liona stopped, not interfering.

The Baroness stopped, then let out a short breath.

Then she took something out from beneath her cloak.

A silver dagger gleamed.

Its surface reflected the light cleanly, while glowing runes were etched along the blade, pulsing faintly with a golden light. Its magical aura was unmistakable — sharp, stable, and ancient.

Lucas reflexively narrowed his eyes.

The Baron spoke. "This is the magic weapon you have always wanted."

The Baroness continued, her voice softer. "It is an inheritance from your grandfather."

Lucas fell silent.

In his mind, there was no particular emotion—only one practical thought: Alright… this is heading in a troublesome direction.

He didn't know how Lucian was supposed to react. Be moved? Refuse? Ask questions?

So he chose the safest option.

"…In that case," he said flatly. "Give it to me."

There was no hesitation. No drama.

The Baroness looked momentarily surprised, then placed the dagger into his hand.

The metal was cold. The weight was just right. Balanced.

Lucas gripped it briefly, then tucked it away neatly. Without another word, he turned around.

"I'm heading out," he said shortly.

He walked away, his steps calm, toward the manor courtyard.

The Baron and the Baroness stood still, watching Lucas's back as he moved farther away.

A few seconds passed.

The Baroness's hand trembled.

The Baron noticed. He gently rubbed his wife's shoulder.

"My dear," he said softly, his voice low and heavy.

"He's not—"
