Jimmy listened to the conversation of the hyenas, and at first, he had nothing to add, because he felt content with his life as an otter. Sure there were things that confused him, like how he was the first otter to ever exist, and if he could even find a mate of the same species, but he didn't blame the universe for this. He didn't even know if there was someone to blame.
As the debate between the feathery hyenas got hot and heavy, Jimmy was eventually coaxed to jump into the conversation. He had an opinion to give, a point of view to share.
"Why should life be a debate at all?" He gave his input. "Why should we even talk about the universe if it truly doesn't care about us? Live life, brothers, as life with meaning, is no different from life without meaning. Simply live, breathe, and love one another."
The hyenas first looked at him in disgust, but as they analyzed his words, they found wisdom within. They found perspectives that they've never even thought of before, and likewise, they started respecting him.
After some point, they brought out a chess board, somehow, and invited him for a fair game. Well, they considered Jimmy far smarter than themselves, so they played together against him, debating over every move they made, as if they were thinking fifty moves ahead!
Jimmy was confident. He knew the rules, and he played chess well. In the endgame, he started forcing them into a smothered mate.
Every check mattered, every move the hyenas made in the endgame was forced, and at last, he was one move away from landing the checkmate, and winning the game!
Jimmy reached out to make the last move, but all of sudden, his world faded. He didn't know what was going on, he even thought that he was dying, because he had been so invested in this world, in this dream, to the point where he didn't even know that it wasn't real. He panicked, and held his chest, expecting death.
"Lord, I'm ready…" He sighed.
Seconds later, Jimmy opened his eyes, and found himself in the cave that he had initially knocked himself out in. For a moment, he didn't know where he was, because he had been over-invested in his last dream, but as he looked around, his memories were coming back to him. He remembered why he was here.
"God…" He sighed. "These dreams have to stop."
As Jimmy tended to his sore muscles, and tried to move around, he looked around, trying to see where Eni was, but he didn't see her. She wasn't in the cave. He only saw the spot on the ground where her squirt had been soaked up by the dry dirt.
"Maybe she went to get me some water?" He spoke to himself.
He didn't know how long he had been asleep. It could have been twenty minutes, or five hours, it was hard to know, hard to predict just like that, so instead, he based things on how dehydrated he was. He wasn't dying of thirst, so he guessed that he had been asleep for at least half an hour.
Jimmy put that topic to the back of his head for now, and walked towards the steel door. He discovered that he had caused quite a crater on the door this time. He had punched a hole through the steel, and although the hole was only one foot long, too small for him to squeeze through it, he was not upset.
It was progress, even if it didn't seem that way. He guessed that if his ejaculations got stronger, he'd be able to break the door soon enough. Hopefully, after just a couple of weeks.
The hole he caused today was far bigger than what he achieved with his first ever attempt to break through the steel. He has made astronomical progress.
Jimmy bent over, and looked through the hole. He was finally given the chance to take a good look at what was on the other side.
The first thing he noticed was the lights. They were artificial, they were on the walls of the steel tunnel behind the door, which meant that they were powered by electricity!
This got him very excited! He had been an electrical engineering student in his past life, so any discovery regarding electricity got him excited. Almost hard, even.
"Nice…" He muttered. "Looking useful already."
The tunnel was long, and he saw some stairs that led downwards. He couldn't see much past the stairs, so other than the concept of electricity, he couldn't exactly see anything worth getting worked up about in there, but he was happy nonetheless.
Whatever this place was, be it a bunker, a research lab, storage room, or whatever else, it was worth breaking into. He was even hoping that it was alien technology, because even though the technology behind the steel door might, or should be too complex for him to understand, he was sure that he could make use of the technology eventually.
Aside from some territorial issues, and quality of life improvements that he wanted to implement in the tribe, he otherwise had nothing but time to figure things out. There was no technology in this world that he wouldn't figure out eventually.
Since Anna had been an electrical engineering student as well, she could lend him a hand after he broke through the steel door. She liked puzzles, which could come in very handy. He could make good use of her usual, overperforming curiosity, and naturally intense obsession towards complex matters.
After five minutes of looking through the hole, he decided to stop, and go on with his day. He could not destroy the door today, but there was always tomorrow. He wasn't in a rush.
Jimmy turned around, and started walking towards the tunnel attached to the cave, so he could find Eni, but after he took a few steps, a familiar, yet terrifying visitor popped up in front of him.
"You…" He showed his teeth, like a rabid dog. "What do you want this time?"
