Bloodmancer in the Jurassic Era: I use my Dinos to seduce Human mates

Chapter 141: Surrounded

After they were done pooping, the two of them stood up, and scouted the area. It was highly unlikely that they were going to find a QT while they were on the ground, and they knew that, but they just wanted to eat. A thirty minute break was hardly going to stunt their progress, as they had been flying for four hours before this point, and hadn't found a single QT. They needed a break.

A few minutes later, Jimmy heard a couple of heartbeats. He heard them about twenty meters, or sixty-five feet away, which for one thing, it meant that his magic had evolved last night, and he could hear heartbeats that were at least twice the distance away from what he was used to, but other than that, he found lunch!

Jimmy didn't see them, because they were camouflaged really well, but he could tell that they were small dinosaurs. He gave them a quick, painless death by exploding their heart on the spot, and after a while, he found them.

"Scutellosaurus Lawleri," Anna said, as soon as she saw Jimmy carrying two of them, "Nice find, they're herbivores. They should've gone extinct a few million years ago, heh, but we're learning that scientists can be very wrong when magic is involved."

"They survived, so they could be our lunch today," Jimmy smiled, "Can you start a fire? I'm gonna gut them for you, my lady."

The dinosaurs he 'catched' were this era's equivalent of brown rabbits. They were small, had a bit of meat on them, and overall they weighed ten kilograms each, or twenty-two pounds. Two of them were just enough for a great breakfast.

Jimmy went ahead and cut the legs off one of them, they were meaty enough to feed him and Anna very well. As for dessert, he sliced into their bellies, and got a couple of thin, small steaks. He had noticed that belly meat tasted better, so he wanted to treat his lady well. Gutting dinosaurs didn't disgust him, as he had practiced a few times at the home cavern.

After he was done, he gave a full 'rabbit' to Bonita, and also let her eat the other one he had cut into. She was happy.

Anna got a fire going with her flint and iron-riddled rock, and so they started searing their food over the fire. They placed the legs on the embers, since the legs were thicker, and needed some time to sear, but they should be cooked well after about twenty minutes. Good enough to avoid food poisoning, or most parasites, that is, but other than that they didn't want to waste too much time on cooking the legs thoroughly.

The thin steaks were ready after five minutes, so they ate their dessert first. They didn't have any salt to season the steaks with, but it was good eating, it was tender, and it got their stomach ready for a bigger meal.

"Do you think we're gonna find any QTs today?" Jimmy asked, as the dino legs seared over the embers, "Maybe we got lucky with Bonita? She could be a rare species."

"No, she's not rare," Anna said, "I'm sure I've seen some of them flying around, above the grasslands even, but who knows where they are now? This species moves a lot, so the odds of us seeing several of them someday in the future, when we won't even be looking for them, are painfully large."

"Alright then," He nodded, "We'll keep looking, no harm in that."

The legs were roasted enough after twenty minutes, so they started eating. Warm meat, in front of a warm campfire was quite the experience. They hadn't grown sick of it yet.

Halfway to chewing through all the tender, delicious meat the dinosaur legs offered, they heard something past the crackles of the campfire.

Specifically, Jimmy heard a few heartbeats. At this point, the heartbeats were visualized in his head like an old military radar, he could even see it in his mind when the hosts of the heartbeats moved. He could visualize almost every step!

"Grab your spear," He whispered, "I hear humans."

Anna didn't panic, but her movements were so swift, that she grabbed her spear, and was crouching a second later!

Jimmy didn't need a spear, because he had a plan in mind. Psychological warfare.

He stood up, and said, "I can hear you, stand up!"

This was a bold move, it shocked the people who approached them, who were trying to surround them. Jimmy hadn't expected to see people here, considering that they were only two-hundred meters, or just under seven-hundred feet above the elevation of the grasslands, but it happened.

Someone had either crossed the thick forest, including its high point to head towards the grasslands, or, people lived in the forest. Either way, he and Anna were in trouble.

Fifteen people stood up, with their weapons pointed towards him and Anna. They've surrounded the small hill, and from the looks of it, they've invented bows and arrows!

"Do you understand me?" Jimmy raised his voice, looked at one of the men, and tried to play dumb, "What are you looking for?"

Suddenly, a woman spoke behind him, she said, "We weren't looking for you, specifically, but we saw you land."

Jimmy turned around, and saw a woman, who was well into her early thirties. She was coated in mud, her coal black hair was full of twigs, and overall she looked like she had seen better days. In actuality, she looked like this, and so did the rest of her people, because they put a lot of effort into camouflaging well into the red & brown forest. Every inch of their skin, other than their faces, was covered with the scales of brown dinosaurs, they didn't wear any fur.

At last, she said, "You can relax, okay? We won't kill you if we don't have to, but you need to answer one question."

"Sure," He nodded.

Jimmy wasn't nervous. He was maxing out his magical abilities, and had tapped into the hearts of every single one of them. All fifteen. At the expense of blowing out the entirety of his mana pool, he could kill them in a split-second.

Initially he was hoping to kill them one by one, to freak them out, and torture them mentally, but most of them had their bows drawn towards him, Anna, and Bonita, so he had to settle with killing them instantly if they attacked.

Anyway, the woman finally added, "You're obviously the dinosaur tamer we heard about, your long-beaked friend looks like it wants to eat me alive, so I'll ask you a better question."

"Is it true that your hunters got killed by giant people?" She asked.
