Jimmy was stressed out of his mind, and had resulted in random button pushing as a last resort. He didn't want to waste an hour re-learning the letter-marked buttons, to figure out the secretive codes that were used on them, and he certainly didn't have the nerves to do so, so he lost it.
At first he pushed two or three buttons at a time, and directed the commands to container twenty-one, otherwise known as the spot where the Compy DNA was stored. He had a plan in mind, he wanted to send a bunch of Compies to war, but by pressing many letter-marked buttons at the same time, the results he got were weird.
For example, three Compies appeared in the container all at once, and they were of various sizes. One of them was normal, and the two others were jacked up, and more than double in size! Worse yet, they popped into a cloud of blood seconds after he materialized them!
Apparently, one of the buttons he had pressed was a command to destroy them. This frantic, and albeit careless plan was less effective than he anticipated.
"Fuck…" He held his head, "What am I doing, for fuck's sake? This is a bigger waste of time than what it would take me to learn what these fuckass buttons do."
Jimmy came to his senses just there. He stepped away from the control panel, took a few deep breaths, and then walked back to it. He trusted his gut, his intuition, which told him to press the tenth, and last button on the line of buttons marked with letters. This one was labeled as XXX.
"Yes!" He celebrated.
Just as he had suspected, a Compy materialized in the container. This place was advanced enough to save, and use DNA to reconstruct creatures, seemingly from nothing! It was unique, and he started to remember why he liked this place so much. The control panel was a bitch and a half to work, but otherwise this was the most useful room in the entire bunker!
"Okay… if i remember right, the first button should, uh…" He talked to himself, and then pressed it.
Jimmy pressed the first button on the line, otherwise known as AAEM, and then he saw the Compy had doubled in size! This was exactly what he wanted, the Compy was three feet tall now, or nearly a meter tall. It certainly was a lot more dangerous than the rest of its species!
Anyway, he then pressed the same button for the second time, and watched the Compy grow in size once more. It only grew by a foot in height, but its muscles were so big, and so exaggerated now that it looked like it was on steroids!
"Hehe," He grinned, "This fucker won't only kill our enemies, he'll wear their faces too."
For the sake of experimenting, he pressed the same button for the third time, and directed it towards the Compy's unit. It grew taller by another foot, and a lot longer than its original size, of course.
Its muscles seemed less exaggerated now, but this was a strong soldier nonetheless. Standing at five feet, or one and a half meters tall, Jimmy had practically achieved the equivalent of growing a house cat to the size of a cheetah! He made the Compy a lot more dangerous than it was supposed to be!
Half of the square container space was occupied by its body, so yes, this was a dinosaur worth bringing to battle.
However, he craved to press the button again, for the fourth time, because he wanted to make the Compy even bigger. He was obsessed with the idea, so he pressed AAEM again. The Compy exploded.
"Fuck!" He cussed out, "That's fucking random! There was plenty of more room."
After thinking it over, he figured, "I guess DNA can't be overstretched, or some shit like that?"
Jimmy knew what to do now, at least. He knew that he could only jack Compies up in size by three times. Three was the limit, but this wasn't a problem, as in his eyes, a three-meter, or nearly ten-foot long Compy was more than big enough to aid his plans.
"What are those bastards gonna do? Fight them? Hahaha!" He spoke to himself, and then went over the process again.
First, he popped up a fresh new Compy by pressing the tenth button on the row, otherwise stamped as XXX, and then jacked it up in size by pressing AAEM three times.
"How do I make these bastards smarter?" He asked himself.
Through trial and error, he started pressing almost every button on the row, one by one, trying to figure out how to make his test subject more intelligent. He avoided the third button, otherwise known as XXL, because he remembered being traumatized by it two days ago, when he accidentally killed a Compy in the containment unit. Killing his test subjects was a mistake that he could avoid today.
Jimmy figured out that the fifth button on the line, otherwise stamped as WLAS-I was the button he was looking for. He pressed it once, and managed to make the Compy more intelligent.
"He's supposed to be twice as smart now…" He spoke to himself, "I gotta see what the current, smartest Compy in the world is thinking about, hehe. I doubt that the fucker can do math, but…"
Jimmy tapped into its heartbeat, and then its brain. It took little observation to make an estimation of its intelligence, and he was surprised by the results!
He even managed to make an estimation based on percentages, "30% dumber than a caveman… that's actually really impressive for a Compy. I was planning to jack his IQ up a couple more times."
Compies were known to be annoying, at least in his experience, but the truth was that they were alert, intelligent scavengers. Their cognitive abilities developed naturally, thanks to the fact that they were house-cat sized animals in a world full of giants. Survival alone was more complicated for them, so of course they adapted over the past few million years, and got smarter. They had to.
"He's ready," Jimmy said with a satisfied smile, "Cloning him looks like a stupid move, though. Two of them won't fit in the container, not without breaking each other's spines or some shit. Oh well, I can clone them one at a time, I guess?"
With the perfect warrior created, Jimmy had to do one more thing now. He had to tame this Compy, and every other Compy that he was to clone after this one! They had to abide his commands, otherwise he'd be setting murderous dinosaurs loose for nothing.
