Godslayer VR

Chapter 38: mission: cloud killer

Hero held the cloud item in his hand. Suddenly, it jumped away and slid onto the ground. A structure formed, something like a cage with a roof and a grid like surface. An opening appeared so one could enter it, or rather crawl inside.

Now they only had to wait for Ice to wake up, but it did not take long. She opened her eyes and agreed to continue. She believed she could regenerate her wound and her strength along the way. She truly thought she would be able to participate in the fight against the green cloud. That would be the best possible outcome.

The four of them left the village. The cloud cage floated perfectly behind Hero, with Ice inside it. Everything worked flawlessly.

As they left the village, Selin took one last look back at it, or what remained of it. Then she looked forward, toward her future.

Selin began speaking to the group. "You know, if you keep looking backward all the time, you will eventually walk into something. It is better to look forward."

She had said that well, and everyone agreed.

After about thirty minutes, Mike encountered something strange. A river made of clouds.

"Is everything here actually made of clouds?" he asked.

Well, yes.

They continued onward. Ice gathered more and more energy. Her health bar was almost full again. She was sleeping with a timer set for two hours, after which her magic and health would be fully regenerated.

They reached a large open area of clouds. Mike added, "I am slowly getting tired of seeing clouds everywhere."

Finally, the group arrived at the entrance of the cave, and it was made of stone. Mike immediately jumped forward.

"Finally something that is not clouds. It is made of stone."

Selin nodded. "Yes, it is."

That was a strange answer, but Mike did not question it. He simply responded with a quick "Okay."

Hero stopped right in front of the large entrance. It led straight inside. He dared to take a look ahead. Torches floated along the walls, but they did not touch them. Farther inside was a large stone wall, and beneath it was the water passage Selin had told them about. Beyond that water passage lay the cave where the cloud was.

Mike could barely contain his excitement, but they still had to wait about five more minutes for Ice to wake up. They looked deeper into the cave but found nothing. This seemed to be the only path.

Hero finally stepped inside. He was carrying Ice's sword, which had once belonged to Ryolos. Ice could not fight. Mentally, she was unstable, which was understandable given how close it had been.

Mike entered as well, and the moment he did, a powerful aura wrapped around him.

Ice had woken up, and holding Selin's hand, the two girls entered as well. No one said anything. They were all afraid of being discovered. Maybe they could manage a surprise attack.

They stood in front of the water passage, nodded to one another, and went in.

It was cold. The water wrapped itself around Mike's body, and he felt the chill immediately. Mike opened his eyes and saw the tunnel ahead where Selin was leading the way. It seemed as if she had been here before, or she was about to stab them in the back at the worst possible moment.

No. Selin is good.

Mike stopped thinking about it and prepared himself. He dove after Selin. She was still holding Ice's hand and had not let go. She truly was kind. There was no chance she would betray them.

Mike had to smile slightly.

Hero was behind Mike and pointed forward with his hand. Mike looked ahead and realized that the water passage was ending. They could surface.

They waited. All of them stood on the ground of the water tunnel and equipped their swords. Mike's sword began to glow with a black aura around it.

"Shadow enhancement. Everything the Shadow King touches gains this effect. It only applies to his weapons. Once he lets go, it disappears."

Mike understood. It strengthened his weapon.

Selin crouched slightly, as if gathering momentum to launch herself out of the water. Ice did the same. Mike and Hero followed.

Then, with a powerful motion, all four of them shot upward. Water bubbles burst around them from the speed, and they broke out of the water together.

They all landed on both feet, standing upright and ready to fight the moment they hit the ground. Mike immediately looked around.

It was a large, empty cave. This time, torches were properly mounted on the walls, and in the center floated a massive green cloud.

Without warning, four large green spikes shot toward them. They were each as big as Mike's sword.

Mike's blade flashed, and all four spikes were sliced apart instantly. The cloud seemed surprised and immediately fired four more spikes.

Mike's sword flashed again, cutting the spikes into even more pieces than before.

The cloud began to glow bright green and spoke to Mike.

"I was actually planning to kill you with those!"

So this was the cloud, the creator of Selin's race.

Mike glanced to the side and looked at Selin. He saw the hatred in her eyes and realized how deeply she wanted revenge. Because of that, Mike spoke.

"You chose the wrong side!"

Mike shot forward at lightning speed. A black flash burst through the cave. Just before the impact, a system message flooded Mike's vision.

"Admins are being summoned in 8 minutes and 54 seconds."

"What the…"

Mike slammed into the cave wall with full force, tearing stones loose as he crashed. Rocks buried him, and nothing could be heard from Mike anymore.

The cloud made strange laughing sounds.

"And I did not even have to do much!"

Suddenly, a sword shot through the air straight toward the cloud.

A flash of light filled the entire cave. The sword was barely stopped as it struck the cloud. The impact rang loudly. The cloud had hardened itself, its material turning solid like stone.

But the sword had not come from Mike.

It came from Selin.

She still held a sword in her hand. Her other one had already shattered, and now she was wielding Ryolos' sword. Her voice was filled with rage as she spoke.

"Now I will avenge them all!"

The cloud looked around and then loomed above Selin.

"Then let us see, Selin."
