Chapter 58: endless desert(4)

The blue sky quickly transformed into a dark one, faintly illuminated by the stars. Zrila did not speak. Instead, he suddenly stood up. Mike was just about to strike, but from the side two sand serpents burst out and slammed Mike into the sand.

In an instant, Mike found himself buried deep. The serpent had already jumped back up, probably trying to devour Zrila. Mike endured the serpent's body and was not crushed. Slowly, anger began to rise inside him.

With a single leap, he was back on his feet. Zrila was running in the distance and was actually still alive. That was good for Mike, because now he really wanted to kill him.

Mike's left eye flickered blue, his right eye glowed red in the darkness. He looked like a powerful and demonic creature. He quickly scanned the area and saw that the two sand serpents were chasing Zrila.

Mike decided to save him, only so he could finish him off himself. But then he remembered that Zrila was also an admin. So Mike watched from afar and was genuinely surprised.

Zrila suddenly turned around and stopped running. Mike looked closer. Zrila had pulled a sword from his inventory. Despite his severe wounds, Zrila jumped into the air and heavily injured one of the serpents.

Mike was forced to look away for a few seconds, because from behind another massive sand serpent wrapped around him. Its fangs shot forward. Mike dodged instantly and unleashed a rain of blows. Each strike was stronger than the last. The sand serpent collapsed, its scales shattered and blood pouring everywhere.

Mike grinned.

"(Fang Tooth Sword obtained!)"

"Finally, a new sword," Mike remarked, looking at the dead sand serpent as it despawned.

He turned his gaze back to Zrila. Instantly, Mike lunged from the side and with a swift slash cut off one of Zrila's arms. Red blood splashed across the orange sand. Zrila's sword clattered to the ground. Mike immediately picked it up and now held two swords in his hands.

Zrila collapsed to the ground, exhausted and bleeding heavily. Mike grinned. Zrila had done the work for him. Both sand serpents were dead.

Zrila looked at Mike's grin and said, "Why are you grinning like an idiot? There is nothing to smile about."

Suddenly, a gigantic fist formed in front of Mike. It was massive and gray, surrounded by a white aura. Without warning, it slammed toward him.

"What the hell?"

Mike raised both swords to block. The fist crashed into the blades and did not relent. Mike's feet slid backward through the sand. He had to react.

He struck the hovering fist multiple times with his swords, but nothing broke. The fist was not a creature. It was an attack, a spell.

"Shit," Mike cursed.

He had to face the attack head on. It was too late to escape. Mike was fast, extremely fast, but his counterattacks had cost him precious time.

The fist surged forward and hit Mike with a direct blow. His entire body was engulfed by the force. Blood spilled from his lips and nose. His arm guards shattered, cracks spread across his chest plate, and both blades splintered apart.

Then Mike was sent flying.

He flew and flew, before crashing hard into the sand.

"Huff, cough."

Sand flew everywhere as Mike staggered, but he got back on his feet. The fist had vanished clearly Zrila's attack. Mike had to admit, it had been strong.

"Cough… you bastard! I'm ending this now!" he shouted, furious.

Zrila, also staggering, nodded. The one-armed fighter drew a sword from his inventory and swung it wildly. "Come on then!"

Mike only had his blunt blades in hand, but suddenly something blue appeared from below it was the assistant.

"Master, remember Cloudless!" the assistant called out.

Mike closed his eyes. How could he have been so foolish? The assistant was right Cloudless still existed. He could use the item as a sword.

Zrila surged forward at incredible speed. The assistant vanished into the ground. The blue puddle immediately appeared in Mike's hand and transformed into a sword. The cloud like surface protected the blade, yet it was twice as sharp. After a moment, Mike realized this weapon was far from weak it was actually excellent.

Mike placed the two swords together in preparation. Zrila swung multiple times, but Mike blocked every strike. After a few clashing moments, Mike reacted and thrust forward a direct hit! Blood sprayed onto the sand as the blade sank deep into Zrila's chest.

Yet surprisingly, Zrila laughed. Mike didn't pull the sword out and instead began speaking.

"So… now you're going to tell me everything?" Zrila laughed, blood streaming from his mouth. Mike could feel him weakening.

"Only if the deal still stands," Zrila said.

Mike didn't answer, just nodded.

"So, there's only one game creator… no others… it w—"

Mike had heard enough. Honestly, he didn't need more explanations from Zrila; this single piece of information was already invaluable. With a clean slice, Zrila's head flew onto the sandy ground.

Mike grinned. "Sorry, slipped!"

Immediately, Mike felt far stronger than he already was. His grin widened as he looked into the distance. It was daytime, and he thought to himself: "So there's only one creator… good to know. Really good…"

But Mike knew that somewhere out there, one last admin was still roaming free. He ordered the assistant to locate him. First, though, Mike needed to secure a new and truly powerful sword. So he waited for the assistant to report back, but it took time. The assistant searched through thousands of servers without success. This was going to take a while.

To pass the time, Mike began hunting sand serpents. He killed one after another, and eventually, after a hundred kills, a message appeared.

"(You have obtained the Ascending Sand Serpent Sword!)"

Mike grinned. This was a legendary sword. It would definitely be enough to kill an admin. Satisfied, Mike rested the blade at his side.

Soon after, the assistant appeared in front of him.

"Master!"
