"Alright. I have poked a hole to your Singularity. You should have an easier time conjuring your Chaos now.
Remember, using your Chaos is not about evoking emotion." The black cat meowed repeatedly.
"Then what is it? Becky told me it's all about emotions." Selina asked with her giant pair of eyes.
"Emotions can be the fuel. Your Singularity is in the head so it's connected very closely to your emotions. But rage does not make a warrior dangerous. Calculation, skill, and practice make a dangerous warrior.
Now I want you to close your eyes again. But do not evoke your emotions. Instead, try to see it."
Aurora's trying her best to translate the cat's dialogues. By doing so, she also learned a thing or two about herself. She and Selina both used Chaos as fuel.
"See my emotions?" Selina did as she was told and closed her eyes again.
"This is what I called, peace amongst the chaos. You remains absolutely calm but is still able to 'feel' your emotions. Observe but do not react.
Now. Let's think back to the past. A memory of yours. Any memory. A memory that when you look back, you feel wholeheartedly content. Where you know your emotions are there, but you also feel it at the same time."
In Selina's mind, she pictured a night from long ago. Her mother Iris, and her father, Thomas Isles were never home. They would always go on 'business trips'. These trips could last a few weeks to even months.
Because of that, Selina was always alone.
It was her birthday that night and Selina just went home from school. She expected the house to be as empty as it always had been.
But there they were. Iris and Thomas, standing in the darkness of the house with a birthday cake in their hands. On the cake was a bunch of candles.
"Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday dear Selina..."
Selina's eyes welled up with tears. At that moment, she knew she hated them for leaving her alone. But she was also grateful that they came home for her birthday, despite how busy they were.
She rushed at them and blew the candles. The family had a warm cozy gathering as Selina opened up her presents.
That was what popped up in her mind. Minutes of utter clarity where she understood all of her feelings.
In the present time. Chaos reached out from the small black diamond in the middle of her head and touched the tattoo on her chest.
This was different from when she activated it in the Institute. Now, she had perfect control of the Ward of Protection, or as this world called it, the G.A.I.M.
Selina opened her palm. The tattoo on her chest lit up. A small golden sphere appeared inside her palm.
It was the barrier of GAIM but now she could control its size and how dense the barrier was.
"Very good, woman. You have learned how to control your Ward." The black cat meowed.
For the next few hours, Mater taught Selina how to use other basic skills of Chaos.
Chaos Tentacles, which was a simple spiritual manifestation of Chaos that had the ability to affect other beings mentally.
The Institute called this Brain Freeze as they exclusively used this skill to immobilize NCEs. Chaos Tentacles were much more than that. It could affect even physical beings if you were powerful enough.
There was also another skill that Selina and Mater saw. The Mental Link ability of Loretta Engelman. Unfortunately, Mater didn't know how to use this skill so he couldn't teach Selina.
There was a Rank 2 spell with the same effect but Selina wasn't a warlock so she couldn't use it.
Instead of teaching her Mental Link, Mater taught her another Chaos skill, which was called Chaos Flesh.
Chaos could manipulate one's own body. It could temporarily strengthen the flesh and muscle, allowing the user to release a much stronger force than usual.
Mater explained to Selina the concepts of the skills and how to materialize it.
"Well? Did you got it?" The black cat meowed.
Selina grabbed her head and swayed gently. Stars rotated around her forehead. "A little..."
The black cat patted her head gently. "No worries. You can practice more."
Selina tried to use Chaos Tentacles. She conjured a few Tentacles but couldn't reach them out too far. Her best record was around half a meter.
As for Chaos Flesh, Selina could make her feet stronger, increasing her speed for a few seconds. This skill drained the stamina out of her body even more and she had to gasp every time she finished.
The black cat was not a kind instructor. He pushed Selina over and over again and did not allow her to rest too much.
Time passed by unknowingly. Night fell and the gathering time of the Red Keepers approached.
Crow reached out to Mater telepathically. "There're people coming, Master!"
The crow landed on a branch and hid itself.
Mater, Aurora, and Selina settled down and hid behind a bush. They were much farther from the gathering location than Crow.
"Report everything you see." Mater told Crow.
"Yes, Master."
Crow turned invisible. No one else could see him unless they had a mirror with them.
The Red Keepers appeared. There were around fifteen of them, three groups in total. A red hood with black lines led all the cultists, that must be the Crimson Hood.
"Where is Group C?" The Crimson Hood shouted.
The cultists stared at each other with questions in their eyes. No one knew where the last group was.
They had a total of four groups, each had five members. Group C had a mission to collect a lost Relic from a traitor. The mission was very easy and they should be here by now.
The Crimson Hood squinted his eyes. Thoughts shot through his mind. Group C might have encountered some issue that prevented them from coming to the gathering place. Or maybe they were all killed.
A dreadful feeling overwhelmed the Crimson Hood as he realized the situation.
"Shit! This place is not safe anymore! Everyone, dismiss! Find your own way back!"
As soon as he finished shouting, the Crimson Hood smacked his feet on the ground and jumped away. The height of his jump was at least 5 to 6 meters.
Selina's brow furrowed. "Isn't that Chaos Flesh?"
Mater grinned widely. "Yes it is. A weaker version of it.
Chase that Crimson Hood down, Crow.
Aurora! Come with me to deal with these cultists!"
