At the exit gate, a middle-aged man with an air of arrogance walked out.
This was the person Ge'er Tai was here to greet—Pu Losi.
Pu Losi stood with an elegant and stunning woman on his left, a dignified lady on his right, and four burly, sharp-eyed men following behind him.
"Mr. Pu Losi, welcome to Luofu City!"
Ge'er Tai approached with a full smile, bowing respectfully.
Pu Losi raised his hand to stop the men behind him who seemed poised to intervene, his face showing a faint trace of displeasure and a meaningful smile. He said, "Ge'er Tai, so you're the one here to greet me? And Ge'er Pusi? He didn't come, did he?"
"Please don't take offense, Mr. Pu Losi! Here's the situation!"
Ge'er Tai hurriedly explained, "Cousin Pusi was sent by the Family Head to Dun Lun City, but he repeatedly asked me to personally apologize to you on his behalf. He'll return tonight and insists on downing three glasses of wine as penance to express his regret!"
"I won't let my father drink!" The beautiful young woman beside him spoke up discontentedly.
Ge'er Tai was momentarily stunned, turning to look at the young woman with surprise.
The girl appeared to be around seventeen or eighteen, with a pure and lovely look—a classic oval face and exquisite features that made her the epitome of Western beauty.
Despite her youth, her figure was stunning—everything was proportioned just right, a shape that was undoubtedly ideal in the dreams of many men.
Gulp!
At first glance, Ge'er Tai was completely absorbed, uncontrollably swallowing hard.
The elderly man nearby slightly furrowed his brow and gave Ge'er Tai a gentle nudge.
Ge'er Tai abruptly snapped back to reality, quickly adopting a gentlemanly demeanor and smiling warmly as he said, "And this must be Miss Ya Sha! You're as beautiful as a goddess descending to earth!"
Ya Sha frowned, a flash of disgust flitting through her eyes, averting her gaze to ignore Ge'er Tai.
Pu Losi, on the other hand, didn't mind Ge'er Tai's lapse in decorum. In his view, the reaction was simply due to his daughter's unparalleled charm; it had nothing to do with Ge'er Tai's character. It was her irresistible allure that rendered men helpless.
Suddenly, Pu Losi's brow furrowed slightly, his gaze sweeping across the left side of Ge'er Tai's face. He spoke in a low voice, "Ge'er Tai, what happened to your face? Coming to greet me and looking so unkempt?"
"No, Mr. Pu Losi, I…" Ge'er Tai's heart jumped with joy as he quickly began to explain.
"Mr. Pu Losi, Mrs. Sha Wa, Miss Ya Sha." A voice interrupted Ge'er Tai's words, saying, "Welcome to Luofu City."
Pu Losi turned to see Ge'er Yan and Yan Mo approaching, both bowing respectfully to Pu Losi and his companions.
"Ge'er Yan? You're here to greet me too?" Pu Losi looked at Ge'er Yan in surprise, a trace of doubt in his expression.
Sha Wa and Ya Sha both nodded at Ge'er Yan, but simultaneously, a peculiar look crossed their eyes. Their family had discreetly expressed support for Ge'er Pusi, so Ge'er Yan's sudden appearance seemed odd to them.
"Oh! My apologies, Mr. Pu Losi, I wasn't aware of your arrival. I'm here to meet a friend and happened to cross paths with you!" Ge'er Yan said apologetically.
"Oh!" Pu Losi nodded lightly.
Ge'er Yan added, "My friend has arrived now. My apologies, I'll head over!"
"Alright!" Pu Losi replied indifferently with a slight nod.
Ge'er Yan smiled apologetically and walked past Pu Losi and his group. In the distance, three young men and one old man were approaching them.
"Mr. Pu Losi."
Ge'er Tai softly called out to attract Pu Losi's attention: "You mustn't be deceived by Ge'er Yan's appearance; he certainly doesn't welcome your arrival!"
"Oh? What do you mean by that?" Pu Losi asked, puzzled.
Ge'er Tai pointed to his own face: "This was caused by Ge'er Yan earlier. He knew I was coming to pick you up, so…"
Pu Losi frowned, displeasure flickering in his eyes.
He was a man who placed great value on appearances, and the fact that someone welcoming him arrived with a visible slap mark made him feel insulted.
The slap felt akin to being struck on his own face!
Turning to look at Ge'er Yan, Pu Losi's expression darkened.
"You said he hit you because he knew you were coming to greet us? Yet he claimed he didn't know we would be here?" Ya Sha questioned with curiosity, looking at Ge'er Tai.
Ge'er Tai sneered, "Miss Ya Sha, you're far too kind. How could you trust the words of someone like Ge'er Yan—a mercenary? They're all skilled in saying what pleases particular listeners!"
"Is that so?" Ya Sha glanced at Ge'er Yan with some uncertainty in her gaze.
At the back.
Jiang Chen, Spirit You, Yan Hu, and Fang Tiancheng stepped out of the exit gate.
"Mr. Jiang, Mr. Yan Hu, Mr. Spirit You." Ge'er Yan called out as he strode over.
"Scar, you've gained weight, huh!" Yan Hu remarked with a light laugh.
"And Yan Mo has put on some pounds himself too!" Jiang Chen replied with a subtle smile.
Yan Mo beamed broadly and bowed to Jiang Chen, saying, "Mr. Jiang."
"This is the esteemed elder Fang Tiancheng!" Jiang Chen introduced softly.
"Elder Fang!"
"Elder Fang!"
Ge'er Yan and Yan Mo greeted Fang Tiancheng respectfully.
"Who are those people? Why are they all staring at you?" Jiang Chen noticed the attention from Pu Losi's group and asked curiously.
Ge'er Yan glanced at Pu Losi's group and nodded with a polite smile.
Then, turning back to Jiang Chen, he explained, "That man is Pu Losi—a Duke from Y Country's Royal Family, though he dislikes being referred to as Duke, as he views it as undermining his own efforts. Beside him are his wife, Mrs. Sha Wa, and his daughter, Miss Ya Sha. Across from them is Ge'er Pusi's lackey—my cousin by blood, Ge'er Tai, and next to Ge'er Tai is Ge'er Pusi's personal steward, Steward Lu Li."
"A Duke!?" Jiang Chen was momentarily surprised, recalling Duke Si Mo'er. He gave Pu Losi a meaningful look and smiled faintly before nodding from afar.
"They've implied their backing for Pusi. No need to concern yourself with them; a casual greeting suffices. Let's head over; the car is parked there!" Ge'er Yan gestured toward a limousine by the roadside as he explained.
"Alright!" Jiang Chen nodded slightly.
Ge'er Yan led the group toward Pu Losi's party.
"Mr. Pu Losi, Mrs. Sha Wa, Miss Ya Sha, we'll be taking our leave now!" Upon reaching them, Ge'er Yan greeted politely.
Jiang Chen glanced at them briefly and smiled warmly at Pu Losi and his party once more.
Ya Sha was momentarily startled. In Jiang Chen's gaze, she saw no trace of impurity—his eyes were utterly clear, surprising her. She had never encountered a man whose gaze was as pure as his!
"Ge'er Yan, wait!"
At this moment, Pu Losi interrupted to stop Ge'er Yan.
