Houbin was a large city that was getting ruled by a vampire viscount family of the same name as the city. Any city with a noble vampire ruling over it was going to be somewhat large and that was exactly the case with this city. It was also an important city as a special type of fire could be found in this city.
Vampires were not normally not very fond of fires even though it was not that harmful for them. So they had created a special smithing method in which they were capable of creating various kinds of weapons without involving fire at all.
But this city had a special type of fire that was not uncomfortable for the vampires and instead it was extremely suitable for crafting vampiric weapons. Blood was a very important part of the refinement process of vampiric weapons and the fire of this city was capable of improving the quality of that blood.
So smithing was obviously the most important industry of this city. And after reaching the city Elena was most excited to check that exact thing out. Tomoe was also a very big lover of swords so she was also looking forward to check out various types of swords she would be able to find here. Only Turin was not excited about anything particular and only about visiting the city. That was because as a dragon his body was his strongest weapon and he did not need anything else. But in recent times, after his bad performance in the trial, he was thinking about whether he should get a weapon for him or not.
With all these thoughts in mind, Elena, Tomoe and Turin went to visit the city of Houbin after the ship landed on its port.
...
After going to the city all three of them were just walking in the city. Tomoe and Turin had not experienced this in the first few days but now the lack of sunlight and daytime was starting to affect them. Even though physically they were perfectly fine and did not need sunlight to live, it still took a great mental toll on them. This was also a form of training and Elena was keeping a close eye on them. If it looked like they were in any kind of trouble, Elena was ready to take them out of this continent.
For the time being, even though both Tomoe and Turin were having a little trouble, they were still doing alright. As both of them were from very long living races, they were able to adapt to this kind of situation very well. If it was a human in their place, that person would be having a very hard time adjusting here.
Tomoe was very happy with the collection of swords she was able to witness. Vampires were long living races and they were living very peacefully. There were no wars in the horizon for them so getting a lot of mass produced and low quality weapons were not needed here.
So all the vampire weaponsmiths were extremely particular with the quality of their work and almost never produced something on which they had not given their all. That was the reason why all the weapons found here in this city were of extremely good quality. And that was the reason why Tomoe was having a very good time.
Most of the swords here were created with a vampire in mind so they were min-maxed to work particularly well with various abilities that a vampire was able to use. But that did not mean that people from other races would not be able to use them at all. So the demand for these weapons called Bloodworks was very high all around the world.
...
Just as three of them were looking through various shop's weapon collection, suddenly a strange man appeared and started to inspect Turin from all angles. This man looked very disheveled and unsteady. But there was a maddening look in his eyes that would make most people to take a step back in fear.
Turin was obviously not fearful of this man but he was obviously feeling very uncomfortable with how weirdly this man was looking at him. So he went behind Elena to hide and in that process Elena came into this man's view. Only then he came back to his senses and the previous insane look dimmed slightly from him eyes even though it did not go completely away.
Elena gave him a polite smile and asked him why he was looking at her pet with such interest. In answer that man asked if they could talk privately as he had something important to say to Elena. Elena tried to refuse as she did not have much time left and needed to get back to the ship. Hearing that the man told her again and again that he would not take much time and that what he was going to say would be very important.
Seeing that this man was getting many resourceful looks from the people working in this large and famous shop, Elena judged that he was not a bad person at least. So she decided to hear him out for some time. She could just use her special skills to immediately find out what this man was thinking but where was the fun in that.
...
After agreeing to the man's proposal Elena and her group came to a private room in a nearby shop. This city had regular shops who accepted normal money as it was too big to implement any special rules like it was with the previous city.
What this man said in the private room really surprised everyone. As soon as he started talking, he told everyone that he was able to recognise Turin as a true dragon. Anyone looking at Turin would be able to see that he was related to a dragon but most people would think that he was some kind of sub-dragon species and not a real dragon. That was because real true dragons were extremely rare to be found in the mortal world.
So it was really surprising that this man was able to recognise Turin as the real deal and not some knockoff. When Elena asked him how he was so sure, this man finally introduced himself and told Elena and her group that he had known a true dragon in the past and was very familiar with how a dragon would smell. Using that smell he was able to judge that Turin was a true dragon and nkh a sub-species.
He turned out to be one of the famous weaponsmiths of this city and he was also the owner of the shop where Elena, Tomoe and Turin were before coming here. After remembering how amazing the quality of the weapons in the previous shop was, everyone could judge that his claim of being one of the best of this city was probably correct.
As for what he wanted, it was Turin's blood. Dragon's blood was a very amazing ingredient to create various weapons and especially for vampires. They could use a dragon's blood to even create a legendary weapon. He did not want it for free though and was willing to pay any kind of price if it was not too much. A dragon's blood was priceless so he really did not mind spending some money.
Elena left the decision about this matter to Turin himself as he was the one needed to give the blood. Turin was also free to ask for anything that he wanted in exchange. Now what was Turin going to do ?
