It was chaos. Everyone was trying to run away but a barrier was covering the whole place and they were all trapped inside. The teachers were trying to fight against the strange looking monsters while trying to save as many students as possible.

"In the son of Marquis Baldwin. He is one of the 10 highest ranking nobles. Don't come any closer to me or it will be very bad for you."

The student who was telling such was bitten in the shoulder but suddenly a teacher slash at the monster forcing it to back off and then she took the unconscious student away. Some brave students were trying to fight against the monsters but they were too weak to do that.

The magic they used all had almost no effect. The monster's skin was very hard and swords and other weapons didn't do much damage. They were faster, stronger and sturdier than the students.

There were also the higher level variants of the same kind of monsters present. Even tho their numbers were low one variant could still fight against two teachers. So, the numbers advantage was not very useful.

But the most fearsome thing was the presence of another monster that was just standing without participating in the attacks. That one was just observing everything with a somewhat arrogant and bemused smile on its face.

This monster gave off the scariest aura and was also the creator of the barrier that trapped them. Everyone could feel that if this monster started attacking then all of them would die easily. But this monster was not really interested in attacking, instead it enjoyed the struggles of weaker beings. That was the only reason that the teachers and students were able to at least put up a fight.

The Royal Academy was doing an excursion with its fourth year students. They went to a nearby forest that was known to be mostly safe. The highest ranking monsters present in the forest were only C rank. That was why with the faculty members all having B rank strength, this excursion was supposed to be just a fun, leisurely trip.

But, everything went to hell very soon. Just after they reached the spot where they were going to take out their tents, suddenly a purple coloured barrier enveloped the whole area. Some of the teachers instantly tried to break open the barrier but their attacks were ineffective.

After that some strange monsters appeared about whom even the teachers had no idea. This was a completely unknown species of monster. There were quite a lot of teachers and they tried to fight back but soon fell into a disadvantage. And that was how they reached those terrible situations.

Even with the leader of the monsters not participating, remaining monsters were strong enough to wipe out all the teachers. The only reason they were able to hold on was because of three persons presence. One of them was the former knight captain of Claus family, Gonjalus. He became an instructor in the academy after retirement.

The second one was the genius mage of the academy, Selena. After graduating, she became a professor in the academy. And the last one was, Ele. She was a former B rank adventurer and became a teacher in the academy after getting recommended by a head instructor who was very impressed by her ability to teach the rookie adventurers.

Each of them had the strength to fight against multiple of these monsters and as they attracted the attention of most of the higher level ones other teachers were able to have a breathing place and changed to save as many students as possible.

But it was getting hard for them to hold on anymore. Their stamina wasn't infinite but the leader was giving some kind of buff to the other monsters and for that reason their stamina was recovering rapidly. That was why as the battle went on, the situation was getting worse. Both Ele and Gonjalus were fighting in the frontline and Selena was supporting them with her magic from the back. Those three were fighting against 10 of the higher rank monsters.

But the situation in the frontline suddenly changed. Probably because of fatigue Ele missed a faint and tried to block it. But she got hit in the tummy and was pushed away for more than 10 meters and coughed up blood. This instantly increased the pressure on Gonjalus and soon he was also pushed back. Selena tried to help with her magic but several monsters blocked her magic using their bodies as shield.

So just like that Ele got isolated in the middle of those monsters. After that hit, she was feeling very weak. She wasn't even able to move her hands and feets properly so the fighting strength was no existent at that moment. The shadow of death was looming over her. Was she going to be the first casualty among the teacher ? What would happen to the students after that ? She had given up. She couldn't move properly, couldn't even use the sword in her hand to defend. She couldn't do anything anymore. It was the end for her.

Ele was born as the third daughter of a rich merchant. She didn't lack anything as a child. But for some reason she never felt truly happy. In her life, she felt happy for the first time when her uncle, who was working as an adventurer came to their house and told her various stories.

From that time, she wanted to become an adventurer. Her family objected but she was very stubborn and left the house to fulfill her dreams. After working in various nearby cities she became quite famous in just 7 years she became a B rank adventurer. One of the strongest in the whole city.

But her fall was even quicker than her rise. She went to a expedition where she didn't collect enough information because of her overconfidence. There she faced an A rank monster king for the first time. And what she felt that time was despair, utter despair.

She wasn't able to even scratch the skin of that monster. All her close friends died one by one infront of her eyes. But she was rescued by another B rank team that had came from a different city. And after that they she stopped her adventuring life.

Instead she started teaching the rookies after the guild master of that city requested her and she started enjoying the teaching. She loved the fact that her teaching could save someone's life. That was when a professor of the royal academy who was friend with the guild master visited the city and appreciated Ele's teaching process. She proposed to Ele to became a teacher in the royal academy and she accepted that.

Now she was feeling the same kind of despair. All her students that she loved from the bottom of her heart was going to die alongside her. But she also felt relieved. She felt relieved because now she didn't have to live while remembering about their deaths. This time she would be the first one to die. That was the only thought in her mind.
