The shackles of potential was something that was present in almost every individual of this world. The only way to completely break from it was to reach the demigod rank. But before that one needed to continue their struggle against the shackles. But there were a few fortunate individuals whose potential was very high and for that reason, the shackles binding them was not very strong. These people would have an easy time reaching the higher ranks.

But then their were people whose potential was just way too low. For them, even breaking the shackles of potential once was not enough. Doing so would just given them a harder shackle to conquer next. Natasha's situation was the same.

She was extremely talented in almost everything since her childhood. But her potential was unfairly low. Reaching the B rank was the best she could accomplish according to it. But Natasha was not someone who would give up on her dreams so easily. For that reason she did her best, risked her life many times and was able to finally break the barrier of potential to reach the A rank.

But after reaching the A rank she noticed that there was an even bigger hurdle of S rank before her if she really wanted to fulfil her dreams. But after the breaking of first shackles, the second shackles had become even tougher. Let alone reaching the S rank, even progressing in the A rank was extremely difficult for her.

She had tried many things, had trained even harder than before, had risked her life even more but still she had not managed to find a way out of this problem. Even the heroes she admired, the S rank friends of her father had also advised her to give up. With all these experiences, Natasha had actually lost all her hopes.

But then suddenly someone who had actually gotten rid of all the shackles of potential completely, a demigod rank powerhouse told her that it was possible for her shackles to be broken again. Not only that but this powerhouse was even willing to take her in as her student. This was something unbelievable for Natasha and she felt like she was dreaming.

But that was not the case and this was all real. Realising this, Natasha immediately tried to bow to Elena to accept her to be her teacher, but Elena stopped her and hugged Natasha instead.

Natasha had no idea how Elena suddenly appeared in front of her when she was sitting on the chair moments ago. But after remembering that the person hugging her was actually a demigod, this made sense to her. Demigods were too strong and this type of things probably was not a big deal to them.

After getting a new student, Elena told Natasha to take some time to say goodbye to her family and friends. Then from the next day, her training would start. Elena was not planning to take Natasha with her in her travels. She needed to break the shackles binding her on her own to get enough potential to not just stop in the S rank and to advance toward the rank of a demigod.

If she reached the S rank while traveling with Elena, she would thing that this accomplishment was not completely her own and Elena had secretly helped her out. This little seed of uncertainty would be a big obstacle to her path to the demigod rank.

So Elena was going to make sure that Natasha could reach the S rank with her own efforts and would feel confident in her own self. So this time the training method that Elena was going to use would be different from before.

After Natasha came out, it was Cavvel's turn to go in. Just like Natasha, he was also extremely nervous. Actually he might be more nervous than her because Natasha at least had the experience to interact with other S rankers but Cavvel had none. He had always been seen as just above average so he had never gotten the opportunity to meet or talk with a S rank powerhouse.

Cavvel had already seen Elena when she was overseeing the selection trial and was amazed by her beauty. He had seen many beautiful women before, but no one was as beautiful as her. That was also one of the things that was making him more nervous.

But he did his best to keep his composure and entered the private room. The sight that greeted him was the scene of Elena elegantly sipping a cup of tea with a happy look on her face. This immediately gave him a heart attack but still he managed to calm himself down with sheer willpower.

But then in the very next moment, his willpower almost got obliterated when Elena looked at him and gave him a sweet smile. But still, somehow or some way, Cavvel still managed to keep himself steady and did not fell down.

Elena then asked him to sit down on the chair and started a questioning session. Elena had found Natasha to be truly exceptional and had thought that even though becoming a city lord was a big deal, it would be a loss for her. But for Cavvel, that was not the case.

Cavvel was not really very ambitious from outside at least and was extremely hard-working in any role he was given. He also had a good heart and was a bit of a softy among the demons. So giving him the role of the city lord would be a good outcome for the city.

But Elena also wanted to know if Cavvel really was okay with it or not. Elena was quite fond of his personality too, so if he had any other aim for his life, Elena was very much willing to help him out a little bit.

As Elena continued having chat with him, Cavvel slowly started to relax. Only then Elena started asking him questions about his situation, mindset and goals going forward. Cavvel was very honest with his thoughts and told Elena everything.

Actually Cavvel was not completely without ambition. He had quite a few ambitions. But he was a shy person by nature and was unable to tell anyone about these dreams of his. But with Elena, he felt extremely relaxed and ended up telling her a lot of things. Elena also encouraged him along the way which was a nice confidence boost for him.

After having a pleasant conversation for almost two hours, Cavvel came out of the private room. Elena also came out just behind him. Then Cavvel bowed to Elena and went to talk to his new subordinates while Elena went to talk with the other overseers.

As soon as Graf saw her, he first bowed to Elena and thanked her for taking in his daughter as her student. Graf loved this extremely talented but unfortunate daughter of his and was happy that now she had a mentor to guide her forward. Elena told Graf that it was not a big deal and praised Natasha for having a will of steel.

Then with a serious face, Elena declared that after talking with two of the best candidate, she would propose Cavvel for the role of the city lord. No one was surprised by this as when Elena accepted Natasha as her student, they knew something like this was going to happen.

After declaring this, Elena told Graf to send Ullar to her early the next morning and went back to her room to have a good sleep. She was planning to stay in this city for one or two more days and then she going to go to a new destination which she had already decided.

So that was how the city lord selection trial for the city of Imenhawk came to an satisfactory end.
