As the supreme protector was already quite injured, Alessia continued attacking him without holding anything back. As soon as she could eliminate one of the S rankers from the opposite side, the better it would be for her side. Obviously the other S ranker who had just appeared was unwilling for that to happen, so he tried to intervene between the battle of Alessia and the Supreme Protector.

But before he could do that, Mercus got in his way. With his Rage Overflow state still activated, Mercus charged toward this new opponent. This man was holding a special looking curved blade in his hand so Mercus was sure that he was a warrior. So he was hoping to have a blood pumping close quarters bout.

But to Mercus' surprise and disappointment, this man did not clash with him head on. One neckless present in this man's neck flashed and he relocated from his position. This was most probably the teleportation power that he had used to suddenly appear in everyone's senses and in the middle of the battlefield.

This man wanted to use this teleportation power to appear close to Alessia but he failed. That was because Elena had taught Alessia a few techniques to counter a teleporting opponent and Alessia had made a habit of always unconsciously using that technique almost all the time.

What she did was simple. Normally low tier teleportation could not manifest a person in a space which was already occupied by something. This failsafe was their to make sure no one would be stuck inside a wall or a tree or something like that during the teleportation process.

So what Alessia and the other ladies of the Azure Legion did was to always release a slight bit of their solidified mana or aura to fill their surrounding space. Most of the teleportation users used this as a means of assassination. So having something to counter it was important.

So with this trick in action, this man was unable to close the gap completely and appeared some distance away from the area where Alessia and the Supreme Protector were still battling. He then tried to again go toward them with his own feet but Mercus had already reached his position and was throwing an all out punch toward him.

This man was focusing mostly on saving the supreme protector so he failed to keep an eye on Mercus. So the punch connected perfectly and the man was blown away. But Mercus was not satisfied by it as the feeling he got was not the satisfaction of meat connecting with meat but getting blocked by a barrier.

Just as Mercus had expected, this man soon stood up after the punch and he was also relatively unharmed. But from the pained expression on his face, it was clear that he did not enjoy this at all.

After that, the man finally became serious and that was evident from how his aura changed and became more sharp. Then he finally unsheathed his sword. Immediately afterwards, the whole area got filled with cursed energy.

It turned out that the special looking sword that this man had was a cursed item and a very powerful one. As one of the top ranking people of this cursed city, Mercus had seen and held many cursed items. But the sword this man was using was definitely among the best of the best.

But then an even more astonishing thing happened. With a immense amount of cursed energy feeling the surrounding, many more items on this person body also started to react to the cursed energy. With that, Mercus, to his surprised found out that this man's whole body was filled to the brim with cursed items. Other then the cloth he was wearing, everything he had were cursed items.

After taking out the sword, this man also started to activate the other cursed items on his body. With their activation, his aura started to rapidly rise and soon was matching Mercus' own. But Mercus was not impressed by it, as this effect was achieved by the use of multiple cursed items which would definitely have terrible side effects.

But still currently this man was on the same level as him so Mercus was excited to battle it out with him. So after covering his fists and legs in solidified black aura, he rushed toward the man with a ferocious smile on his face.

This time that man did not avoid him anymore and swang his powerful cursed sword toward him. It clashed with Mercus' aura coated hard fist and the sound of the collision between metals rang out. After the first clash, they continued exchanging blows and the just from the shockwaves generated by that alone, the surrounding area was getting destroyed.

While Mercus and the cursed sword demon were having a blood boiling slugfest, Alessia was almost done with her opponent. The supreme protector was already badly injured from the initial surprised attack and as the battle went on, his condition worsen rapidly.

Alessia's fighting style was extremely bad for him. She mostly used her sword to parry and cut all the spells he threw at her. And whenever Alessia was able to get a hit in, it dealt a lot of damage.

Just like that after exchanging a few rounds of blows, the supreme protector was already feeling dizzy on his head from all the blood he had lost with his injuries. As a S rank powerhouse, he had a very fast recovery speed even though as a mage it was inferior to Mercus'. But Alessia's sword and techniques were also specialised in dealing injuries which were hard to heal. So the faster recovery was not helping him at all.

This continuous weakening of her opponent gave Alessia another chance to deal devestating damage when the supreme protector mistakenly revealed a big gap in his defense. Alessia was planning to use this chance to end of the battle outright so she directly used her signature "Azure Thunderfire Slash".

While facing this attack, the supreme protector realised that it was the end for him. There was no way for him to defend against this attack or to dodge it. In his despair, he suddenly shouted -

"Bastard, how long are you planning to just watch ? If I die here your plans will never come into fruition."

While the observing people were surprised by this sudden outburst, a sudden chuckle was heard throughout the whole battlefield. At was also the time when the Azure Thunderfire Slash connected with the Supreme Protector. But when the flash of light produced by that attack disappeared, surprisingly people found the Supreme Protector to be perfectly unharmed.

As for the reason how, without anyone noticing a man wearing a mask had appeared before him to protect him from this attack without anyone noticing. This man's whole body was covered in a black baggy robe and hood. He was also wearing a terrifying looking mask which had no eye holes. So no one could guess what kind of demon this man was or how he looked.

But one thing was clear which was the fact that this man was definitely insanely powerful. Even after enduring a direct Azure Thunderfire Slash, this man was perfectly unharmed. His appearance here surprised everyone except of the supreme protector. Even the cursed sword demon was surprised.

So who was this man and what was his intention behind helping the Cross of Ferocity out ?
