Lighting Lanterns in the Mountains and Seas

Chapter 274: A Bunch of Fools

The flames of escape fluttered chaotically in the wind like a drunken man staggering, then violently expanded before suddenly collapsing to release a sky full of blossoms and countless tiny blue starlight points.

The force of the explosion disintegrated instantly, and Shi Chun tiptoed the ground, wanting to rush up and capture again, but collided with the sparse blue fragments. His complexion dramatically changed as he felt everything around him transforming, as if something was trying to drain everything of its essence.

He subconsciously operated his Bath Demon Skill to the limit to protect his body.

Then, in a blink of an eye, it was as if there was a mirror in front of him, and he suddenly couldn't move at all, his skin cold to the touch.

Trying to move again, he realized he could still move, but the space in which he could move had become much smaller and extremely narrow. What he saw combined with what his body felt made him gasp in shock as he realized he had been encased in ice.

Moreover, he was sealed by a thick layer of ice, and his strikes could not break through, indicating the incredible thickness of the ice.

It wasn't just him; An Wuzhi and Chu Jingtang, who had followed closely behind and were initially delighted when the Master caught up and shattered the Divine Fire with a single palm, were less joyful after colliding with the sparse blue starlight as they too were frozen, unable to move.

Unseen by the trio, a giant ice mountain suddenly materialized out of thin air on the high ridge where they were, instantly crushing the three under it.

The ice mountain, though large, was distinct from other ice mountains, crystal clear like crystal, and vaguely, one could still see their silhouettes from the outside.

An Wuzhi was better off, his body protected by a fiery aura that soon drenched him in sweat, his clothes soaked with moisture, he began to move slightly. Unable to lift the ice mountain through his cultivation, he began to melt his way outward.

Chu Jingtang struggled as well, but to no avail. He couldn't even move a finger, and the piercing cold was bitter, making him secretly lament the possibility of dying here, which felt unjust.

The little space around Shi Chun was because of the misty blue qi protecting him; the ice stopped outside of this layer of qi.

Because he had this small space, Shi Chun, unable to lift the ice mountain, immediately began to strike at short distances with an explosive force similar to that of the No Demon Blade when the misty blue qi collided with an obstacle, creating explosive force in the direction of resistance.

Boom boom boom, he immediately made explosive noises in rapid succession, and soon cracks appeared on the ice mountain.

The silvery blue flame, now shrunk to just about a foot tall, quickly escaped through the ice layer, and once out, it floated into the air and drifted downward. Its speed was significantly slower in the void.

Moreover, it was slower than before; after being struck by the Demon Dispel Hand, the potency contained within it had greatly decreased.

After it fell into the thicker ice and snow on the mid-slope, there was a flash of light, and its speed increased again.

Boom! A chunk of the ice mountain collapsed, the large and small chunks of ice sliding down the slope as if chasing the fleeing Divine Fire.

Boom! Ice shards flew everywhere, and Shi Chun blasted through a hole and rushed out, scanning briefly before locking onto the direction of the fleeing silvery blue flame. Then, suddenly looking up, he saw the abrupt cracks in the ice layer above looking bigger and bigger.

He immediately leaped out; just having mounted the Wind Scale and ascended into the sky, he saw the towering ice mountain collapsing thunderously, stirring up a tall cloud of ice mist and shaking the ground.

Shi Chun glanced back but didn't concern himself with Chu Jingtang and the others, as he knew such things couldn't trap An Wuzhi, who cultivated the Fire Attribute Skill. What he needed to do now was to keep a close eye on the escaping silvery blue flame, hardly having it lost of any resistance, how could he let it escape again.

He had just begun his pursuit on the Wind Scale when the collapsed ice mountain exploded again, and An Wuzhi burst out, using his cultivation to bake a burst of water vapor off himself.

Looking at the Master who had already pursued the Divine Fire on the Wind Scale, then at the ice chunks that had filled the high slope after the collapse, An Wuzhi couldn't help but be inwardly shocked, realizing the Master was indeed miraculous, not knowing how he had broken through the ice.

He had thought he would have to wait for his help, but the Master had emerged quicker than him and had already started the pursuit of the Divine Fire.

He knew very well that if Shi Chun hadn't downsized the ice mountain, he wouldn't have come out so quickly.

He also wanted to pursue the Divine Fire, but he couldn't just leave without helping; if he did that, how could he face Shi Chun and the others afterward, and would the Divine Fire still be given to him?

Upon scanning, he located roughly where Chu Jingtang was in the crystal-clear transparency and immediately bombarded wildly with fists and palms, quickly blasting his way to him, and soon pulled Chu Jingtang out.

After all, with the strength of his cultivation, he wouldn't freeze to death in a short time, but it was enough for Chu Jingtang to suffer. Shivering after being extracted, his goatee was covered with ice chips.

An Wuzhi grabbed his wrist, transferred a burst of warm fiery energy, then tossed him aside and ran off, "Brother Chu, you might want to rest a while."

"Achoo!" Warmed up, Chu Jingtang sneezed, looked around, and saw that the few strange suns were also setting, the distance was gloomy, and standing alone at this windy col was nonsense. He immediately revived his spirits and flew off in pursuit...

In front of the mountain cave, Xu Anzhang and two disciples from the Four Cauldron Sect were quite relaxed. The slanting sun still hung at a certain height in the sky on their side, occasionally pulling out an ice sheep for a couple of bites, watching the exotic sights, having a casual chat, joking around when Xu Anzhang mentioned it wouldn't be bad to get through to the end like this.

The two disciples from the Four Cauldron Sect verbally agreed while secretly laughing, knowing that Xu Anzhang had told them that all but Shi Chun and Wu Jinliang from Mingshan Sect would eventually be silenced.
