Lighting Lanterns in the Mountains and Seas

Chapter 669: Delivered to the Door (2)

How can one not sigh helplessly.

Shi Jiao quickly waved his hand and said, "Oh, it's a misunderstanding, Brother Liang has misunderstood. I'm not talking about Brother Liang's acquaintance; I'm referring to Situ Gu's disciple, Situ Zhen."

The scene fell silent, and everyone looked at each other in confusion.

Lan She displayed an expression of mixed feelings, silently criticizing. Asking Situ Gu's disciple to join the team was less likely than forcing Liang Mian's woman. He immediately waved his hand, "Just joking, Situ Gu wouldn't agree."

He intended to end the conversation there, but unexpectedly, Shi Jiao smiled mysteriously, "Perhaps I can help Brother Lan give it a try."

Everyone looked at each other, not knowing what ability he had to resolve this.

Lan She was intrigued but cautiously said, "Don't do anything rash."

And with that, the topic was dropped.

After soaking for a while, everyone gradually rose to change clothes. On the way, Liang Mian bumped into Lan She, and the two of them walked into a shaded path among the trees.

With no one around, Liang Mian didn't hold back and said something shocking, "Xiang Laner said she never had any relations with Shi Chun."

Just when he thought it was something significant, it turned out to be this trivial matter. Lan She couldn't help but laugh silently, "Why tell me this? I'm not interested in such petty jealousy affairs."

But Liang Mian continued on his own, "Yet she knew about Shi Chun's release from Life Prison, and she's been asking about Shi Chun's whereabouts, wanting to visit him. Even if nothing happened in the past, I don't want to see the scenario of old flames being better than new ones. In the Battle of Great Pardon, some things just need Brother Lan's word, but some people don't necessarily have to return alive."

Lan She smiled subtly, neither agreeing nor refusing, and curiously said, "I'm really curious, what kind of woman is worth Brother Liang's serious attention? I heard she's skilled in all arts and beautiful, but aren't there plenty like that in the vast Royal Capital?"

Liang Mian waved his hand, "Those are secondary; beauties are easy to find, but the desired one is not."

"Alright, I don't understand then." Lan She laughed it off, thinking to himself, bewitched.

Anyway, some things are understood without outright refusal...

In Nanshan Royal City, a group of people enjoyed the picturesque scenery by the lakes and mountains. Among them, Gong Shaoci, engaged in conversation and laughter, suddenly noticed his trusted manager, Lei Ying, waiting nearby. He slowed his pace to break away from the group.

Lei Ying quickly approached him and whispered, "I've already met Commander Ming, and your congratulatory gift has been delivered in person."

Gong Shaoci: "What did he say?"

Lei Ying whispered, "After presenting your gift, I briefly mentioned the fallout between you and Shi Chun after he left the Divine Fire Domain. I didn't say much else. After accepting the gift, he said he understood your intentions."

Gong Shaoci smiled, shook his head, and sighed, "Staying quietly in Life Prison isn't better? Why bother coming out to show off."

With that, he flicked his sleeves and left to catch up with his friends...

On Heavenly Capital Immortal Mountain, Feng Chi knocked on Shi Chun's door. Upon hearing a response, she quickly pushed the door open and found Shi Chun leisurely flipping through a book. He wasn't cultivating or discussing strategies and tactics for battle with others. She was convinced by his calm demeanor.

She closed the door and quickly approached Shi Chun, leaning in to whisper to his ear, "Xiang Laner has arrived at Heavenly Capital with news saying she wants to meet you."

Shi Chun snorted, "She ran off with another man, so why come to see me? I won't see her."

Feng Chi: "You should still meet her. She claims to bring a message from above, and you have no way to refuse. It wouldn't hurt to see what they want."

It was indeed difficult to refuse, but Shi Chun wasn't allowed to leave the mountain easily, as Mulan Jin feared someone might harm him, so Xiang Laner had to be brought to the Immortal Mountain, through a series of procedures, before being let in.

After all, having done something disgraceful, Xiang Laner didn't want to face others from the Mingshan Sect. Feng Chi led her, avoiding people, to Shi Chun's residence.

Her visit carried no other purpose than using the guise of meeting an old acquaintance to convey a message from above to Shi Chun.

The message was simple. They learned Shi Chun was participating in the Battle of Great Pardon. With Mulan Jin's help, he secured the leader position and could make decisions, so they felt Shi Chun would be useful. If necessary, Shi Chun was to cooperate fully with the Demon Path.

The Demon Path seemed to place great importance on this event, leaving Shi Chun no room to refuse. They threatened to expose his Demon Path identity if he didn't comply; the evidence was ready, clearly revealing the trade links of the Desolate Broken Blade.

In other words, for this matter, the Demon Path was willing to expose the likes of Xiang Laner and Feng Chi.

Shi Chun immediately realized it might be related to the battlefield, 'Demon Realm,' in this great war.

He took out a large gourd, placed it on the table, contemplated while playing with it, and the already indifferent Xiang Laner questioned aggressively, "What, are you thinking of refusing?"

Shi Chun snorted, teasingly, "Why refuse what's delivered right to the door?"

At those words, Xiang Laner vaguely sensed something was off. Suddenly, she truly felt something was wrong, finding her body slowing to immobility.

She was shocked, immediately realizing it was his frequently used immobilization skill. She was about to release the Demonic Qi to break the restraint.

Shi Chun flickered before her and rapidly struck several points on her body, restraining her on the spot.

Feng Chi, stunned to the side, was about to persuade him, thinking it would cause a huge commotion, but before she could speak, her eyes widened. Shi Chun had already ripped Xiang Laner's clothes, exposing a large area of skin.

Even more shockingly, Shi Chun turned, glaring coldly at her, questioning the claim that she'd already belonged to him. He intended to see for himself.

Feng Chi faltered, then decisively chose not to intervene in Xiang Laner's terror-stricken gaze, turning and leaving, standing guard at the door.

The sounds of fabric rustling were heard again, revealing Xiang Laner's delicately sculpted body. Shi Chun briefly admired it before carrying her to the bed...

Outside the door, hearing the unspeakable sounds, Feng Chi pinched her forehead, finding his dominance a headache.

After a long time, the door opened again, and Xiang Laner staggered out, having changed clothes, her hair in disarray, glaring at Feng Chi, tears streaming down her face. Glancing around her surroundings, she dared not speak, wiping her tears as she hurried away.

Feng Chi quickly caught up, took her arm, and led her to a secluded area.

Xiang Laner struggled, "What, have you betrayed us and now want to kill me to silence me?"

Feng Chi firmly held her, persuading earnestly, "What betrayal? Miss, I'm prioritizing the bigger picture, as should you. Should we ruin the important matters from above by turning against each other now? This task is an urgent one; it's clear they are willing to sacrifice us, so for once, endure it for the greater good. My heart goes out to you!"

Xiang Laner, brought to tears again by her words, stopped struggling. Losing her chastity for the first time, she felt deeply wronged; she had already agreed to marry Liang Mian.

Honestly, regarding status, power, demeanor, and kindness towards women, and the understanding he provided, after spending time together, it was apparent Shi Chun couldn't compare to Liang Mian, although marrying Liang Mian was a result of higher-ups' manipulation.

One was open, the other secretive; when encountering someone better, who would choose the worse? She never dreamed that he was such a beast, daring to act rashly in front of Feng Chi.

Feng Chi quickly helped her tidy her disheveled hair, soothingly said, "You'll draw suspicion if you go out like this; fix yourself up before you leave."
