Leo wore a fierce expression, though a hint of weariness clung to his eyes. His clothes were in tatters, and his shoes were long gone—he was completely barefoot. Yet none of that mattered now. He was free-falling through the clear sky.
"HAAAAAAA—!" he roared, his voice ripping through the wind.
He plummeted with his legs blazing in a stark, flaming and concentrated white aura.
THAAAM!
The enormous head of the colossus dipped slightly as Leo slammed down onto it, the impact cracking the hardened earth layered over its skull in a wide ring, Leo standing at the centre of the fractured pattern.
He immediately tried to trigger his taming talent again—yet again, it rejected him.
"Tsk. Bastard still refuses," Leo muttered under his breath. He leapt off the head once more as Shyra materialised beside him, summoned in a flash of cool, rippling mana.
He landed on her back, and the moment she steadied herself, Shyra activated her [Stealth], her form blurring out of existence as the colossus began scanning the area and mending the cracks on its head with slow, grinding movements.
Leo had been repeating this strategy for the last five days.
He and Niri acted in a cycle. Niri would discreetly charge her Solar Beam and fire it at intervals, each blast forcing the colossus to redirect its attention. Meanwhile, Leo would sneak to its head and unleash blunt strikes, trying to jolt it awake from its drug-induced stupor—attempting to tame it in the process, even when the initial attempts left him reeling with splitting headaches.
Whenever they fought, Shyra would be recalled to recover her mana.
Why separately?
Because Leo couldn't hide inside his own spiritual space while his mana was depleted. After the initial joint assault, Niri would retreat into the spiritual space to recover, and Shyra would emerge to cloak Leo with her stealth. He would meditate on her back as she moved to dodge—sometimes crawling silently, sometimes darting away in agile bursts—maintaining stealth at a cost of 200 mana per minute. She balanced this for two to three hours straight until Leo was fully restored.
Only a while later would Niri rejoin them, her presence bolstering both herself and Leo with her naturally high mana regeneration.
At some point, Leo sifted through all the system notifications he had been ignoring: stat updates, proficiency gains, and finally the data concerning the newly tamed wolf.
The wolf pup had awoken in the early days—grief-stricken at learning her family was gone. But when she caught sight of the dead Shadow Wolf's corpse, the grief twisted into fury, and she unleashed all of it on the body. Thankfully, Leo had already used the core to enhance Lunaria; otherwise, the pup might have instinctively devoured it, and consuming such a high-grade core could have been fatal for her.
Soon after, a new fire lit in the pup's eyes. Without a second thought, she began devouring the corpses and beast cores Leo had deliberately left beside her, levelling rapidly with the system's support.
He'd kept her dead family far from her sight, though their cores had already been used to strengthen Lunaria's and the pup's bloodlines. As for the corpses, they were meant for Shyra—who refused to bury them at all. She insisted the pup would choose to consume them, that turning the fallen into one's own strength was a way of avenging them together. She even claimed she'd gotten permission from the pup herself. With their bond already at fifty percent, her certainty was… intense.
Leo doubted the "permission" part, but he let her proceed. He'd heard before that certain beasts performed such rites—devouring their fallen to carry their will forward.

(Important Note):
The direwolf currently behaves like a powerful but normal wolf with improved base capabilities due to its strong direwolf genes. Its royal bloodline signature effects—solar radiance, lunar shadow manipulation, celestial empowerment, phase transformations—cannot activate until it is baptised under multiple Solar Eclipse Shadows.
Only the eclipse's shadowed sunlight can awaken its dormant Solmora-Lunareth heritage.
Skills: [similar skills gained from cores have been consolidated]
[Astral Aura Weave]:
Shapes its aura into extensions—lengthening claws, fangs, or short blades—giving its attacks extra reach. The more complex the projection, the stronger and harder it becomes. Also reinforces its body as a natural defence since projecting aura increases body constitution, though prolonged use drains stamina.
Mana: 400
[Luminous Prowl Step]:
A swift mobility burst that lets the direwolf glide or dart silently in any direction. Allowing quick dodges, sudden leaps, and rapid repositioning in close combat.
Mana: 300

He was once again going to start mediating, and this time, take some sleep as well, but then he noticed something in the ginormous eyes of the colossus.
"The redness disappeared!" He said with a triumphant smile.
He once again tried the taming talent immediately, and like always, the beast refused.
But Leo didn't frown; on the contrary, he had a big smile on his face.
"Fuck yes! He isn't angry any more. Now I just need to exhaust it to a certain degree for the taming to be successful."
