Chapter 60: Someone Seeks Help Again (Please Subscribe)

Yi Anguo was reborn, so he knew how powerful the Penguin Company would become and how terrifyingly its stock price would soar. At its lowest, the stock was 3.71 yuan per share, later splitting into five shares. At its peak, the stock price exceeded 750 yuan per share, which is 3,750 yuan when multiplied by five—a true thousand-bagger! Its market capitalization peaked at over seven trillion Hong Kong dollars, equivalent to over 900 billion U.S. dollars.

But Ding Jing wasn't reborn. Her ability to arrive at such a conclusion relied solely on her raw talent and analytical skill. This was especially evident in her foresight into Penguin Company's incredible growth prospects, leading her to suggest they focus on investing in companies with real value. From her words, it was clear she was inclined toward value investing.

Value investing is essentially a long-term strategy that severely tests an investor's vision and capability. The stock market sage Warren Buffett, for example, is a master of long-term investing, not quick in-and-out short-term trades.

In 2008, for instance, Warren Buffett invested one billion Hong Kong dollars for a ten percent stake in BYD. Over a decade later, he received a massive return on his investment.

If the chairman of BYD hadn't refused, Buffett had actually wanted to invest more, aiming for a 20% stake.

Even so, that ten percent stake was valued at over 70 billion Hong Kong dollars more than a decade later. The initial investment of one billion had appreciated over seventy-fold, befitting his reputation as the sage of stocks.

Ding Jing's analysis was spot-on, and her vision was remarkably forward-thinking, at least concerning Penguin Company's growth and the future trajectory of its stock price. She accurately judged both its short-term and long-term trends.

This made Yi Anguo value Ding Jing even more, making him more determined than ever not to let her go. At the same time, he was filled with anticipation for her future, hoping she wouldn't disappoint him!

Yi Anguo discussed many things with Ding Jing, including future events that were yet to unfold. The deeper their conversation went, the more he realized just how formidable her analytical skills and judgment of future trends were. She predicted many things with impressive precision.

Of course, it wasn't surprising that Yi Anguo, being reborn, could foresee future trends and even outcomes, as he had already experienced them.

But surely Ding Jing couldn't also be reborn! Yet, many of her viewpoints were undeniably correct. Even when there were discrepancies, they were minor and completely acceptable.

If she could predict everything with 100% accuracy, then she would have to be reborn as well.

"Ding Jing," Yi Anguo said thoughtfully, "I plan to set up a venture capital firm. You're right—the future will be an era dominated by the internet economy, one that will see the birth of countless internet startups. Companies like Penguin, Alibaba, Baidu, Xinglang Company, and even American firms like Amazon all have limitless potential for growth.

"But we've already missed the prime opportunity to invest in these companies; they're already public. Even if they weren't, they no longer need our investment. If they did, it would just be icing on the cake for them. Plus, we would have to pay a steep price for only a tiny share.

"Therefore, we should focus on internet companies that are just starting out, or on talented individuals preparing to launch their own businesses. We should invest in startups with great potential or in outstanding individuals. We need to become their angel investors or provide Series A funding. Only then can we secure the greatest returns.

"So, I sincerely hope you'll stay by my side. I need you. At the same time, I can provide a stage for you to fully showcase your talents."

Ding Jing hadn't expected Yi Anguo to value her so highly or to endorse her analysis and judgment so completely.

At the same time, she began to see Yi Anguo in a new light. During their discussions, he often countered her arguments with solid reasoning or supplemented areas where her analysis was lacking. Some of his points compelled her admiration.

She found it hard to believe that Yi Anguo was someone who had only finished junior high school.

When she thought about how he owned over three thousand properties in Blue Coast and was saddled with enormous bank loans yet remained completely calm and composed, utterly unworried about falling into a crisis from which he couldn't recover, Ding Jing couldn't help but be impressed.

Facts had already proven his astute judgment. The price of the 1,600 properties he had bought just over a year ago had already risen by more than fifty percent, earning him a substantial profit and causing his net worth to skyrocket.

Yet, instead of rushing to sell the properties and cash out, he had taken out second mortgages to invest in the stock market.

As Ding Jing's understanding of Yi Anguo deepened, shockwaves rippled through her mind. Just a year and a half ago, Yi Anguo had been a broken man, so down on his luck that the woman who had been with him for years had abandoned him and their daughter for another man.

But in only a year and a half, the man he was today was a world away from the man he had been. He now owned more than 3,000 properties, a property management company, and a supermarket.

Although he owed the banks a lot of money, if he were to liquidate all his assets and pay off his loans, he would probably still have a net worth of no less than a billion yuan!

Some might say it was just good luck, but isn't good luck a reflection of strength?

Ding Jing threw herself into his arms, hugging him tightly. "I've been your woman for a long time," she said. "I can never leave you in this lifetime. Unless you don't want me anymore, I'm not going anywhere. I'll just stay by your side."

"Good! As long as you're loyal to me, I will never abandon you," Yi Anguo said with a smile.

"Besides, you already admitted defeat just now. You said that if you lost, you would have to stay by my side for the rest of your life, be my woman, and bear my children."

"Fine! I admit defeat. I'll stay obediently by your side for the rest of my life, be your woman, and bear you children," Ding Jing said, unable to resist leaning in to kiss him again.

Yi Anguo responded to her kiss, standing up as he lifted her and placed her on the office desk.

"Not here, carry me to the bedroom..."

...

Just as the two of them finished, Yi Anguo's phone rang. Cradling Ding Jing, he casually picked it up and saw that the caller was, surprisingly, Ou Xiaolong.

This Ou Xiaolong was a real estate developer and an acquaintance of Zhuo Weidong, who had introduced them. They had met at a few gatherings but were merely acquaintances.

Although they had exchanged phone numbers, they had barely ever called each other. What could this guy want, calling at this time?

Pondering this, he answered the call.

"Hello, Mr. Ou?"

"Brother Yi! Have you been busy lately? Are you free right now?" Ou Xiaolong asked politely.

"A little of both. Just tell me what you need. If it's something I can help with, I'll do my best," Yi Anguo said with a laugh.

"But you know I'm not exactly a miracle worker. Usually, I'm the one asking you guys for help. If it's a problem you can't solve yourselves, it's unlikely I'll be able to do much. So please don't take offense if I can't."

"Brother Yi, you're too humble! How about this—I'll treat tonight. Let's get together, what do you say?" Ou Xiaolong suggested hurriedly.

"A get-together is fine, but you'd better tell me what it's about first so I can be prepared. Also, who else will be there tonight? Is Brother Zhuo coming?" Yi Anguo asked.

"Brother Zhuo? I'm not sure if he's free tonight. If he is, he'll probably come," Ou Xiaolong explained. "To be honest, I called you first. You're the main person I wanted to invite because I have something I need your help with."

I knew it! Zhuo Weidong is usually the one who calls for a get-together.

"What is it? Go on, tell me. I really can't think of how I could possibly help you," Yi Anguo said.

"Sigh! I'm out of options, brother! I'm having a bit of a cash flow problem. I have a loan coming due before the New Year, and I was hoping you could lend me a hand. Help me get through this tough spot so I can at least have a peaceful holiday," Ou Xiaolong said with a heavy sigh.
