Supreme Summoner Overlord: Rise of the Endless Legion

Chapter 308: Where Tier Fails and Power Speaks (5)

He saw a Colossus trying to flank the Dreadmaw. He flicked his wand.

"Stop it!"

Five of the winged insects swooped down, spitting venom directly into the Colossus's eyes. The monster thrashed, blinded, and stumbled right into the path of a Twin Boulderback Behemoth pair. The stone giant smashed its fist into the bug's head, crushing it against the ground.

The battle wasn't a fight anymore. It was an execution.

Reidar watched the health bars drop. He watched the notifications scroll in the corner of his vision, but he didn't read them. He just counted the kills.

One. Two. Five.

The Lead Colossus was still struggling under the Dreadmaw. It was strong. Being at Level 355 meant it had a lot of health points. But it was pinned. The Dreadmaw was tearing it apart, piece by piece.

It stumbled as one leg gave out and crashed to the ground. Reidar cast Mark of Frailty again and walked toward it.

The other Colossi tried to protect their leader, but the Dreadmaw was in their way. Its bulk was too massive, and it was blocking their path. The Sky-Hunters continued their assault from above, tearing into any creature that tried to break formation.

Jake and Lena were fighting the others.

Reidar stopped ten meters from the Lead Colossus. The monster's eyes were locked on him. It hissed, a sound like escaping steam.

"You're strong," Reidar said. "But you're just a monster."

He raised the baton.

Event Horizon Javelin.

A black spear of condensed energy formed above his head. It was darker than the surrounding shadows, a tear in reality that hummed with destructive potential.

He hurled it.

The javelin struck the Lead Colossus in the center of its head. There was no resistance.

The creature's body was already compromised by acid, explosions, and the Mark of Frailty.

The javelin simply erased the matter it touched. The monster's head vanished in a singularity of black light. The body twitched once, then slumped.

The notification flashed in Reidar's vision, registering the kill, but he dismissed it without a second thought—there were still more enemies to eliminate, and the fight was nowhere near its end.

But the strategy was working. Now it was just a matter of execution.

"Keep pushing," Reidar said. "We're not stopping until they're all dead."

Silence fell over the clearing after a while.

The only sound was the heavy breathing of Jake and Lena and the chittering of the Sky-Hunters as they landed on the carcasses to loot the monsters.

Reidar lowered his arm. The adrenaline was fading, leaving behind the familiar ache of muscle fatigue and mana strain. He checked his status.

—[<<END>>]—

The numbers rolled in. He had gained many levels from this fight alone. He was now at Level 358.

However, it still fell short. Silas had been Level 370 during their last encounter, and he'd almost certainly advanced further by now. Still, every level gained was a step forward.

Jake walked over, wiping green slime from his armor. He looked at the Dreadmaw, which was slowly dissolving back into mana now that the combat was over.

"That was awesome," he said, referring to the Dreadmaw.

"It's expensive," Reidar said. "I can't use it often."

"Who cares?" Jake grinned. "Did you see it? It ate that bug like it was nothing."

Lena joined them. She looked less enthusiastic. She was checking her daggers for chips.

"We got lucky," she said. "If the acid hadn't worked on the armor, that would have gone differently."

"Luck is a part of the process," Reidar said. "But we won. That's what matters."

He looked at the carnage. Twenty high-level monsters dead in less than ten minutes.
