Chapter 0257: Brother Cai

He was a man with rainbow-colored hair who looked exactly like a street ruffian. He wore skintight pants, and tattoos were visible on both of his arms. He had his arm wrapped around a scantily clad, voluptuous young woman in a lace dress. It also looked like he had a whole retinue of underlings with him.

This was none other than Yang Cai, infamously known as Brother Cai in the Northern Mountain City underworld.

Although he was an idle, controversial figure with no real talent to speak of, he was lucky enough to have an excellent background. His cousin was none other than Zheng Kuangyi, the powerful leader of the Black Clothes Gang, which was currently on the rise in Northern Mountain City.

Ever since a furious Chen Fei had taken action and wiped out the Tiger Leopard Hall members hiding in the suburbs, the organization's influence in Northern Mountain City had plummeted. The city's underworld was instantly thrown into turmoil.

That was precisely why the astute and observant Zheng Kuangyi and his Black Clothes Gang had seized this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. They fought fiercely to rise through the ranks, not only reclaiming their position as the top gang in Northern Mountain City but also driving the last remnants of the Tiger Leopard Hall out of Northern Mountain. It was truly their moment of glory.

As a result, Yang Cai—Brother Cai—naturally rode on his cousin's coattails. He became even more presumptuous and arrogant than before, practically walking around with his nose in the air.

But no matter what, his cousin was Zheng Kuangyi, the undisputed leader of Northern Mountain City's underworld. Who would dare not show Yang Cai some respect wherever he went? Yet today, he had been unexpectedly rebuffed—ignored by this shabby little restaurant! How outrageous!

"Hey, are you looking down on me, Yang Cai?" the rainbow-haired Brother Cai snarled, a cigarette dangling from his lips. "What the hell? You people obviously have a top-tier VIP room. I ate in it last time, so how come it's not available now? Holy shit! Are you looking down on me? Do you think I, Yang Cai, am not qualified to eat in that VIP room?"

"Brother Cai, I... it's not like that. Please let me explain..." the manager, a woman in her thirties, said with a flustered expression. She had no choice. She could tell at a glance that Yang Cai and his crew were bad news. They were insisting on dining in the Green Bamboo Medicinal Cuisine House's most exclusive VIP room, but not only did they lack a reservation, their own boss had already booked the room earlier today! There was no way she could let them in.

"Explain? Explain my ass!" the rainbow-haired Brother Cai sneered, his nose in the air as if he were the most important person on earth. "Do you think I'm blind? I can see the VIP room on the second floor is empty! Hurry the hell up. I'm hungry and I want to eat now! Otherwise, you'll have hell to pay!"

"No, Brother Cai, please let me explain. Our boss personally booked the VIP room on the second floor earlier today. We're just employees here, you see..." the manager explained timidly, her heart pounding.

"Bullshit!" Yang Cai shouted, utterly unconvinced. "Do you take me for an idiot? What a coincidence. You didn't book it earlier, you didn't book it later, you just had to book it right when I show up to eat? Let me tell you something, who cares about your boss? If he's not here, he can get lost!" With that, he actually started to lead his men inside.

"What's going on?" Just then, an impatient voice called out from a distance. It was Zhang Long and Zhao Le, both dressed in formal suits.

"Boss Zhang, Boss Zhao! They... I..." The moment the manager saw her superiors, she reacted as if she'd seen her saviors. She quickly rattled off the whole story like spilling beans and then hurried to the side.

"Yang Cai?" Hearing the name, Zhang Long furrowed his brow. He seemed to recall hearing of this man's 'reputation.' The cousin of Zheng Kuangyi, the big boss of the city's underworld... Putting everything else aside, the name "Black Clothes Gang" alone carried immense weight. Damn, I didn't expect to run into this kind of mess.

"That's me. You can call me Brother Cai," Yang Cai replied, his nose in the air. His arrogant gaze slanted toward Zhang Long as he said slowly, "So, you're the owner of this Green Bamboo Medicinal Cuisine House? You don't look like much."

As the saying goes, the King of Hell may be easy to deal with, but his minor officials are a nightmare. Yang Cai was clearly this shameless type of person. He was a bum who accomplished nothing, idled his days away bossing around a group of lackeys, and was only puffed up with pride because he was lucky enough to have a cousin leading the underworld. And that cousin led the Black Clothes Gang, an unrivaled giant in Northern Mountain City with no other gangs capable of challenging them. Naturally, aside from a very small number of people, almost no one in the city would dare to disrespect them. Their fearsome reputation was intimidating.

"My surname is Zhang," Zhang Long said, deciding to swallow his pride. "My apologies, Brother Cai, but I've already privately reserved the VIP room today to entertain a friend. How about this? I can immediately arrange for our next-best private room for you."

"Heh, privately reserved for a friend?" Yang Cai's eyes flashed with anger, though his tone was mocking. "It seems Boss Zhang doesn't think much of my reputation. Do you really expect me to believe an excuse that would only fool an idiot?" Clearly, he didn't believe a word of this 'nonsense.' A private reservation for a friend? Did they really take him for a fool?

At that thought, a surge of rage at being slighted washed over Yang Cai. A sullen look darkened his features. He suddenly snatched a bottle of liquor from the bar and smashed it on the floor. CRASH! He tilted his head back and bellowed, "Fuck! So you'd rather do this the hard way? Do you believe me when I say I can make one call and have dozens of guys here to chop you to pieces in minutes?"

The restaurant erupted in chaos.

"What's going on? What's that guy doing?"

"Looks like someone's here to make trouble. Let's just go, forget about eating."

...

The customers inside the Green Bamboo Medicinal Cuisine House were startled by his actions. Panic rippled through the room as they began to murmur amongst themselves.

"It's alright, everyone, it's just a misunderstanding. We'll handle this immediately. Please, continue your meals, everything is fine." Seeing the scene, Zhao Le couldn't help but step forward to placate the crowd. She then turned to Yang Cai, her face full of anger. "What do you think you're doing?"

"What am I doing? Heh!" Yang Cai sneered, then suddenly yelled, "All of you, get your asses over here!"

He called over several thuggish-looking young men who were standing nearby.

One of them sidled up and asked obsequiously, "Damn, Brother Cai, Sister-in-law, what's going on?"

"Fuck! This asshole is looking down on us! He's looking down on me, Brother Cai!" Yang Cai shouted, his face a mask of arrogant rage. "He fucking came up with a moronic excuse to keep us out of the VIP room. What are you all standing around for? Start kicking people out! Fuck it, if I can't eat, nobody eats!"

"Fuck! You dare look down on Brother Cai? You're asking to die!" one of the thugs yelled. "Everybody get the fuck out! Stop eating that shit! Get up, get up!" Hearing their orders, the thugs went ballistic. They started shouting and cursing as they grabbed wine bottles from the tables and began indiscriminately chasing the customers out.

"Brother Cai! Please, let's talk this out... Don't you think you're going too far?" Zhang Long said, his face turning pale at the sight. This was a disaster. An incident like this was a severe blow to their restaurant's reputation. If these customers were too scared to ever come back, and word started to spread... The consequences were unthinkable.

"Too far? Heh, the worst is yet to come!" Yang Cai jeered, a fierce and arrogant look on his face. Then, to everyone's shock, he lifted a chair and swung it straight at Zhao Le.

Everyone present, especially the staff, was stunned. Zhang Long's expression changed dramatically, his face contorted with extreme anger.

"What are you—" Just as he cried out, about to rush forward to block the chair for his wife, a dark figure suddenly appeared and caught the flying chair firmly in his hand.

This person was, of course, Chen Fei.

"Along, Art Commissioner Zhao, what's happening?" Chen Fei asked, his face devoid of expression.

"Chen Fei, this group is here to make trouble!" Zhao Le said indignantly. Though still shaken, she felt a surge of confidence at his arrival. "Along and I had already privately booked the VIP room for today, but they refuse to believe us and started getting violent!"

"So what if I hit her? And who the fuck are you, trying to be a hero saving the damsel in distress?" Yang Cai sneered at Chen Fei. "I could kill you with one hand..."

He wasn't joking. Who was he? He was Yang Cai, the cousin of the Black Clothes Gang's leader, Zheng Kuangyi! In all of Northern Mountain, aside from a few top-tier figures with real power, who wouldn't give him face? But today, he'd been snubbed at this shitty little restaurant. They wouldn't give him the best VIP room? They looked down on him? No wonder he was furious! When you were part of the underworld, what was the most important thing? Face, of course! And now here he was, the great Brother Cai, deigning to grace this place with his presence, his hot new girlfriend and a retinue of lackeys in tow, and they couldn't even offer him the top VIP room? Wasn't that a direct slap to his face? Unacceptable! Absolutely outrageous!

THWACK!

However, before Yang Cai could even finish his sentence, his arrogant fantasy was cut short. Chen Fei suddenly lashed out with a savage kick aimed squarely at his stomach.

The man went flying like a bowling pin, rolling across the ground before crashing into the street railing outside.

Even though Chen Fei had held back, his kick was still terrifyingly powerful. It sent the 178-centimeter, 160-pound man airborne. Yang Cai landed with a heavy THUD, clutching his stomach. His face was contorted in pain as he curled into a ball on the ground, coughing uncontrollably.
