Chapter 284: Rushing Over

"A joke? Fine, we'll say you're joking. But old man, don't you think you owe me some kind of explanation!?" Chen Fei took a deep breath, the Spiritual Energy within him seething like a volcano on the verge of erupting.

"Some kind of explanation? What a joke!" At these words, Elder Xiao's brows furrowed slightly as he said indifferently, "Given my age, I'm old enough to be your great-grandfather. Can't I have a little joke with you? Young man, that attitude of yours won't do."

Hearing this, Chen Fei let out a laugh that was thick with anger. "That's an interesting way to put it," he said coolly. "So, your idea of a joke is pulling a gun?"

"And what if it is?" Elder Xiao's expression turned stern. He retorted coldly, "With your level of strength, even live rounds are nothing more than toys to you. So why can't this be considered a joke? Or are you deliberately trying to provoke the Xiao Family and make an enemy of us?"

Chen Fei's lips curled into a disdainful sneer. "Old man," he said suddenly, "are you scared?"

"What did you say? Scared? I, Xiao Nanshan, am over eighty years old! You think I'd be afraid of a wet-behind-the-ears brat like you?" Like a cat whose tail had been stepped on, Elder Xiao erupted in rage, his face an icy mask of fury.

He failed to realize, however, that his current expression was identical to Xiao Qianrang's from earlier.

"Whether you are or not, you know the truth in your own heart. But if you ask me, it's best for people to be honest. Don't think you can pull rank just because you're old. It seems a lot of young people don't buy that sort of thing anymore," Chen Fei said, his eyes narrowing.

"You—you're insolent! Do you have any idea who I am? How dare you speak to me like that?" Elder Xiao stammered, his withered hand trembling with rage.

Chen Fei gave a cold sneer, rubbing his fingers together. "Heh. Your identity? Sorry, I couldn't care less about that," he said lightly. "Right now, I'm just considering how we're going to settle the score between us!" As he spoke, a glint of cold light flashed through his dark, clear eyes, which were as lustrous as polished obsidian. The look alone was enough to send a chill down one's spine.

"Impudent! If you keep spouting such nonsense, do you really think I'll let you walk out of this agency today!?" Elder Xiao blustered, his bravado failing to hide his fear.

"Not let me leave this agency?" Chen Fei laughed dismissively, his expression indifferent. "If you think you have what it takes, by all means, try me." As he spoke, an intense chill radiated from his gaze, like a volcano about to blow. He stared the old man down, a mocking smirk playing on his lips.

Old fool. Tearing all pretense aside and only now you want to settle things? You really think life offers such easy deals? Please, don't be so naive.

"Chen, you need to get something straight!" Xiao Qianrang suddenly interjected, his body trembling. "I admit you're powerful. Even guns are useless against you. But so what? Are you planning to defy the state itself? You have to understand that our Security Agency—our Xiao Family—we represent the nation!"

"Represent the nation? Hahaha! I can't believe you have the gall to say something like that. President Xiao, don't you feel even a shred of shame?" Chen Fei couldn't help but roar with laughter, yet beneath the sound was an unmistakable note of sorrow.

A single mouse dropping can ruin an entire pot of soup. It is precisely because of people like Xiao Qianrang and Xiao Nanshan—people who abuse their positions to bully others, act recklessly, and use the power in their hands to feed their boundless ambition—that society is gradually turning into such a corrupt mess.

The nation... How could scum, dregs of society like them, possibly have the right to represent it? Utterly shameless!

"Represent the nation? Xiao Nanshan, do you dare repeat that to my face?!" Suddenly, a voice choked with incandescent rage echoed from behind him.

In the next moment, several people strode into the interrogation room. The man in the lead was none other than Elder Luo—Luo Yuanzhi himself.

"Elder... Elder Luo? What are you doing here?!" Xiao Nanshan's pupils constricted, and the color drained from his face.

"If I hadn't come, would this whole country have become the Xiao Family's private domain? Hm?" Luo Yuanzhi's face was as dark as a thundercloud. "You even dare to employ extrajudicial punishment?! Xiao Nanshan, you have some nerve! Men, arrest him! I will investigate this matter to the fullest!"

He then noticed Chen Fei confined beneath the large glass partition nearby. His expression shifted again as he called out, "Chen Fei, are you alright?!" He couldn't suppress the anger and anxiety welling up inside him. He truly hadn't expected Xiao Nanshan to be so audacious as to resort to extrajudicial punishment.
