Medical Sage

Chapter 345: Seeing Mr. Xu Again

"Doctor Chen, don't say that about me. In your presence, I can hardly be called 'handsome and dashing'," Xuu Ji immediately returned the favor upon hearing Chen Fei's teasing, and they began to flatter one another.

But to be fair, he wasn't just spouting nonsense. Our Chen Fei, Young Master Chen, was indeed quite the handsome fellow. When he walked down the street, he often made the girls' little hearts go pitter-patter like crazy... Ahem, hehe.

"Alright, if you insist, I guess I have to admit it," Chen Fei chuckled. "But where are we going now? It's already past four o'clock. Isn't it getting late?"

"Sigh, Capital City is great in every way, but the traffic is absolutely deadly. Any short trip ends up with you stuck for half the day. Why don't we just go to Grandpa's place now? From here, we won't get there until almost six. It'll be nearly dinnertime by then," Xuu Ji couldn't help but complain, before asking softly.

"Hmm, almost six o'clock... Alright, let's hurry over now. We don't want to get stuck in the even worse rush hour traffic later."

Chen Fei had obviously experienced traffic jams in Tongzhou and Hong Kong before, a feeling he would rather not revisit. Not to mention, in this regard, Capital City was in a league of its own, famed for having the worst traffic in the entire country—surpassing even Shanghai and Shenzhen.

He certainly didn't want to experience that 'soul-crushing' agony; the mere thought of it was enough to send shivers down one's spine.

After getting into the car, Xuu Ji was curious as to why Chen Fei had suddenly come to Capital City, but he prudently held his tongue. After all, extraordinary people like Chen Fei are usually protective of their private affairs. Asking directly would be taboo. Xuu Ji understood these social intricacies well enough not to make such a foolish mistake.

About an hour or so later, the Hummer that Xuu Ji was driving finally broke through the 'siege' of traffic and arrived at the inconspicuous entrance of an old hutong in Capital City.

As the car turned into the hutong and drove a short distance, they soon saw what appeared to be an ordinary siheyuan with gray brick walls and tiled roofs. However, at the entrance and in the shadows, at least a dozen heavily armed military police stood guard. Hidden sentry posts were positioned one after another, creating a stern, chilling atmosphere that could make one's scalp tingle.

"He's Grandpa's guest," Xuu Ji explained to the guards, then led Chen Fei into the siheyuan.

"You've finally arrived, my boy. Come, sit down." Once inside the siheyuan, Chen Fei quickly spotted Old Master Xuu.

"Greetings, Old Master Xuu," Chen Fei said as he sat down.

"I heard you came to Capital City this time to treat a patient. How did it go?" The old man, sitting majestically on a rattan chair in the cool air-conditioned breeze, smiled as he looked at Chen Fei.

"You knew about that, Grandpa Xuu?"

Chen Fei was slightly taken aback, but then realized he had asked a foolish question. Given the old man's status, what could possibly happen in Capital City that he wouldn't know about?

He immediately shook his head with a smile. "The patient is fine now, but he'll need a long time to recuperate."

"He's alright now?" The old man's cloudy eyes suddenly lit up.

He then sighed in admiration. "It seems you're a step ahead of Elder Xunn again. He actually saw that boy from the Chen Family about his illness before. It seems he was powerless to help, so he recommended you instead."

"That boy from the Chen Family... Dad, you can't mean—?" Xuu Wangyang interjected, stunned.

"Yes. Elder Chen's grandson. I believe his name is... Chen Lin? He was injured and sent back from the Southern Borderlands," the old man said with a slight nod.

Xuu Wangyang drew in a sharp breath. "It's really him?" He knew about Chen Lin's condition; it was so severe that even master physicians from the Medical Sage Hall, like Elder Xunn and Elder Quan, had been helpless. And now he'd been cured? At that moment, his gaze toward Chen Fei was filled with an even deeper sense of awe. "Truly, heroes are often young," he remarked with a sigh.

He paused, then introduced himself with a smile. "Mr. Chen, this is our first time meeting in person, though we've spoken on the phone. I'm Xuu Wangyang. It's a pleasure to meet you."
