Chapter 0505: This Is Not So Easy to Start

"Who?"

Clearly, Chen Fei hadn't expected this to happen. He had only planned to cast a minor spell to make the woman forget everything she had just seen. But now…

"Were you really going to let her go out of mercy?" a calm voice asked from the window. A figure, who had apparently leaped in unnoticed, came into view.

The figure was none other than Cao Qiguo, the black-robed man who had been trailing several kilometers behind Chen Fei. He slowly lifted the hood covering his head, revealing the rugged, chiseled face of a man in his thirties or forties. He held a gun in his right hand, and wisps of blue smoke drifted from its barrel, carrying a burnt smell.

Clearly, both the shot and the words had come from this man, Cao Qiguo.

His eyes flickered as he glanced at the corpse sprawled on the ground. His pupils contracted sharply. "Sunx Long." Even though I suspected it and was mentally prepared, I didn't think he'd actually kill someone. This is a serious problem now.

"Do you have a grudge against her?" an indifferent voice suddenly asked from nearby. It was Chen Fei, who stared at him and spoke calmly.

Hearing this, Cao Qiguo was slightly taken aback. He shook his head. "No, I don't know her. I just knew she was Sunx Wanlong's mistress."

"Then why did you kill her?" Chen Fei asked.

"I did it for your own good," Cao Qiguo said with a frown. "Were you really going to let her off just because you felt sorry for her?"

He continued, still frowning, "She witnessed you kill Sunx Long from start to finish. If you let her go, do you think the Sunx Family wouldn't be able to investigate this?"

"And you're any different? You also witnessed me kill Sunx Long."

But hearing this, Chen Fei let out a cold laugh. "I don't like involving innocent people," he said slowly. "And I especially hate it when people take matters into their own hands, claiming it's for my own good. Do we know each other?" He had no idea who this man was, yet here he was, claiming to act in his best interests right after he'd killed someone. How could Chen Fei possibly feel good about that?

"Then what's your plan if word gets out?" Cao Qiguo asked, a hint of helplessness in his eyes.

"I can make her lose her recent memories," Chen Fei said slowly.

"Make her lose her memories?" Cao Qiguo was taken aback, looking rather embarrassed. He clearly hadn't expected Chen Fei to possess such an ability. If that was the case, his earlier actions had indeed been unnecessary.

"Regardless, the dead tell no tales. You can't deny that," he said, shaking his head.

"I'm not going to argue with you about this. Who are you? You've been following me for a while now…" Chen Fei's jet-black eyes, as clear as polished glass, locked onto him as a chill began to emanate from them.

If the dead truly tell no tales, then…

WHOOSH!

A chill shot through Cao Qiguo's heart. He looked up abruptly and met Chen Fei's gaze, which had already turned cold. He shivered involuntarily, only then realizing that the person before him wasn't some ordinary man in his twenties. Chen Fei didn't need him, Cao Qiguo, to teach him how to do things.

Realizing this, he quickly calmed himself, gave Chen Fei a deep look, and pulled a palm-sized ID from inside his robes.

"My name is Cao Qiguo, captain of the Central Guard Bureau's Special Security Operations Team."

"The Central Guard Bureau?" Now it was Chen Fei's turn to be stunned. If this is the Central Guard Bureau under Old Master Xuu's jurisdiction, doesn't that make us... allies?

But just then, Cao Qiguo suddenly produced an ordinary pair of handcuffs and said to Chen Fei with an extremely serious expression, "Additionally, Chen Fei, we suspect you are connected to two vicious homicides. You need to come with me now. Please cooperate."

Hearing this, Chen Fei was speechless, completely baffled by what game this man was playing. Does he really intend to arrest me? But then again, maybe not.

Moments later, two figures left the Dongshan Villa District without a trace.

...

Old Master Xuu, Xuu Dongtian, was resting in his courtyard home when he suddenly received a call from a secure line, from the leader of a certain special department.

"Hello, Little Zheng?" Old Master Xuu answered, puzzled.

"Old Commander, it's me," an authoritative yet respectful voice said over the phone. "That kid you wanted us to watch has arrived in Capital City, and he's already made his move."

"I wanted you to... He's already made his move? What was the outcome?" Old Master Xuu asked, taken aback for a moment before his tone turned grave.

"He was quite daring."

"The Wuu Family kid and the Sunx Family kid are both dead," the man on the phone said, his tone complex. "Neither escaped, and neither survived."

"Both of them are dead?" Even Old Master Xuu couldn't help but shake his head and chuckle wryly. He had known this would be the outcome; otherwise, he wouldn't have made those arrangements in secret beforehand. Still... this kid was really a handful. The Wuu boy was one thing—what's done is done—but the Sunx boy, after all, had that family's bloodline.

"Yes, both are dead. One died peacefully; there wasn't a single wound or fatal mark on him, and his expression was relaxed. The Sunx kid's death, however, was far more gruesome. Half of his head—his temple—was blown apart." The authoritative voice on the phone paused, then continued with a mix of awe and concern. "But Old Commander, who exactly is this kid? You know Little Cao, right? Besides the old guard, he's the strongest person in our bureau, with a strength rating of at least S+. Yet he said he didn't dare get within three kilometers of the target for fear of being discovered."

"You have to understand, we've never heard him say that before, not even on missions with a danger rating higher than S+. He's a very proud man deep down."

"That's normal. There's always a higher mountain to climb," Old Master Xuu said with a faint smile. "Even the proudest man will subconsciously humble himself before someone stronger. Have you heard of the assassin organization in Italy called the Crimson Fang? Or the Tiger Leopard Hall that was once entrenched in the Region of Three Provinces of Lingnan?"

He clearly didn't find it surprising at all. After all, that boy had single-handedly destroyed both the Crimson Fang and the Tiger Leopard Hall. No matter how capable Little Cao was, could he possibly compare to that?

"Of course, I know. Why do you suddenly bring this up, Old Commander?" Despite his confusion, the authoritative voice on the phone immediately continued. "The Crimson Fang of Italy is said to be the most formidable assassin organization in that country, ranked fourth in the international Assassin World. Their leader, Jack the Blade, is considered a legendary assassin with a danger level of SS! But for some reason, they were wiped out overnight by a Mysterious Force."

"As for the Tiger Leopard Hall, they were even more dangerous and vicious than the Crimson Fang! They had two Innate Mid-Stage Experts, and their master, Luo Zun, had a cultivation level that had reached the Later Stage of the Innate Realm! But that cancerous tumor was excised by Old Man Huang Xing."

"Elder Huang? It wasn't him." But Old Master Xuu just chuckled and shook his head, denying it.

The man on the phone was stunned. "Not him? Not Elder Huang? Could it be...?" he stammered, his tone changing abruptly as he drew a sharp, audible breath, having apparently guessed the truth.

"Yes, it seems you've guessed it. That kid personally eradicated both the Crimson Fang and the Tiger Leopard Hall. Elder Huang only showed up at the end to help cover his tracks. Now, you hear this from me, and then you let it go in one ear and out the other," Old Master Xuu advised.

"Yes, Old Commander!" the man's tone grew firm. Meanwhile, he could feel a cold sweat begin to form. The Crimson Fang of Italy was one thing, but the Tiger Leopard Hall... For such a malignant tumor to have been entrenched in the country for so many years, there were reasons for its survival. It wasn't an organization that could be wiped out on a whim.

"Hmm. Where is the boy now? Is the plan proceeding accordingly? You didn't let him get the wrong idea, did you?" Old Master Xuu suddenly asked, his tone strange. Given the boy's temperament, if he truly misunderstood, Little Cao would be the one to suffer for it.

"Uh, I don't think so. Cao Qiguo just brought him back. From what I saw... everything seemed fine between them," the man replied hesitantly. Perhaps nothing went wrong... right?

"That's good. Alright, proceed with the original plan. Spread the news that the Wuu and Sunx boys died in their homes and that the murderer has already been arrested by the Central Guard Bureau. This matter... needs to be resolved quickly," Old Master Xuu said, nodding as he narrowed his eyes meaningfully.

"Yes. But Old Commander, should we really spread the news? What if... the Dragon Group or the Sunx Family come demanding we hand him over? What do we do then?" the man on the phone asked, still hesitant.

The Dragon Group was one of the Four Departments of Capital City, and it was controlled by the Sunx Family, Sunx Long's family. If they really demanded someone, their request would carry significant weight.

"Demand someone?" Old Master Xuu laughed faintly. "You should know that's not a demand that can be made lightly. The Sunx boy who died was from the fourth generation, correct? Even if his father or grandfather stepped forward, they're only the third and second generations. How much trouble could they really cause? They wouldn't dare raise a fuss within the Central Guard Bureau."

However, Old Master Xuu merely smiled faintly. In his eyes, aside from the old patriarch of the Sunx Family, who was of his own generation, who else had the standing to demand someone from him, Xuu Dongtian? So, that demand was not one that could be easily made.

"Yes, Old Commander. I understand," the man replied instantly, shaking his head in embarrassment at his own foolish question. The Old Commander's attitude made it clear he was personally protecting him. Who else would dare, or even have the standing, to make a counter-demand?
