Find a Troubled Girl after leaving the Guild

Chapter 98: I Refuse to Be Your Slave (Part 2)

"Can people be compared to cattle?"

"You're not a person; you're a pointy-eared monster."

"You little brat!"

"Alright, alright," Li Ang raised his hand, "I'll explain, I'll explain. Don't make it sound like I have ulterior motives, the situation is complicated."

He recounted the whole story about investigating the Order Sandstorm Corps near the Palace District, then sneaking into the Platinum Hall, hearing about Andasu's plight, and defeating and capturing Fukate.

"Where is that Fukate? I want to kick his..." Dorothy fumed with righteous indignation.

Zoe glanced at the sleeping beast-eared maiden on the bed and asked, "Are slaves really miserable?"

"Yes, but she's not a slave in the conventional sense. It looks like she's free, but the Platinum King tightly controls her fate, constantly crushing her spirit, trying to make her completely despair."

Li Ang saw Andasu's eyelids twitch slightly.

"So I want to recruit her; she could bring great benefits to our corps."

Andasu suddenly sat up from the bed, kicked at Li Ang, and after missing, somersaulted twice to stand on the ground.

"Don't think I'll trust you just because you saved me."

White Wolf said, "Just changing a master to be a slave for, that's all!"

A few breaths later, she got a clear view of Li Ang's face, her expression froze: "It's you? Yes, that silver light, it's indeed the same..."

Andasu looked again at Zoe and Dorothy present, suppressing her guarded posture.

"I'm not interested in playing house with you; let me go."

"What's playing house?" Zoe asked.

Dorothy said, "It's like she thinks our adventure is just playing around."

"How could it be playing?" Zoe adamantly denied, then added, "But it is indeed quite fun."

Andasu pointed at Li Ang: "With him, have you ever faced real danger?"

"Yes." Both young girls said.

"We were just attacked by a big ugly monster worm." Zoe said.

"Sandnest Maggot?" Andasu shook her head, "That even more proves it was he who saved you, how could you possibly defeat it?"

Zoe puffed her cheeks in anger.

"Indeed, I killed that monster in the end, but they also showed their bravery; one day they will have the power to face it head-on."

This statement did not convince Andasu; she shook her head and said, "With you guarding them like this, what have they sacrificed?"

"They sacrificed—"

Andasu interrupted Li Ang: "They're all your personal playthings, aren't they?"

"You've misunderstood—"

"Yeah." Dorothy resolutely affirmed.

Li Ang sighed, covering his face.

"See." The beast-eared maiden spread her hand; you could see her well-defined knuckles, the entire hand soft and slender.

Zoe didn't understand at all and blinked beside them.

"But you misunderstood something," Dorothy said with her hands on her hips, "I admit I'm like a dodder clinging to him, but it's not out of a desire for power, rather he is irreplaceable in my life."

"Yeah." Zoe now understood: "It was Li Ang who changed my life, that's why I want to help him build the Sky Cavalry Corps."

Andasu's thin lips moved slightly, but she didn't say anything for the moment.

Li Ang had previously sensed she was very concerned about him leading with a large party booster aspect.

"Why I protect them, I've already told you the reason; I'm fostering them normally, it's just beyond your understanding."

Li Ang asked: "You haven't left the Flashing Field, have you?"

The maiden's expression shifted subtly: "So what?"

"So you don't know that in some places outside the Flashing Field, relationships between people aren't all about taking and trading; there is also mutual support and benefit.

"Don't you want to go out and see? Maybe when you see the outside world, you'll understand."

"Go out... where to exactly?" Andasu shook her head.

"We are an officially registered Sky Cavalry Corps, named the Star Flower Travel Corps."

Li Ang said: "You know you're a speed ace, right? Your ability is very crucial for us, so I want to officially invite you to join our Sky Cavalry Corps."

Andasu frowned and thought for a moment: "A so-called Sky Cavalry Corps, isn't that just a nicer way to say sky pirates?"

"Of course it's different. Sky pirates are disguised; we are an officially registered team in the Sky Knight Guild, with goals far beyond looting, aiming to see the ultimate scenery of the world." Li Ang affirmed.

"Guild, like that Fukate type?"

"..."

Li Ang realized that persuading her was harder than he imagined.

Although she's "normal," her perceptions are completely bound to the environment of the Flashing Field, and her imagination of the outside world is mostly the dark side of the Sable Sky Realm.

"People like Fukate, people like me have the duty to deal with them." Li Ang could only say.

"We're different." Andasu crossed her arms, her posture defiant.

"Hee hee." Dorothy chuckled at the side, "You complain about me clinging on, but the person you truly want to invite, yet she isn't interested."

Li Ang sensed a peculiar joy from her.

"Then, you're willing to take down the Platinum King, right?" Li Ang asked.

To his surprise, Andasu didn't nod immediately; rather, she thought for a while before saying, "I, I don't know, maybe yes..."

Li Ang hadn't spoken yet, but Zoe spoke first: "He treats you like that, don't you want to resist?"

"And the huge amount of debt payment each month," Dorothy said, "I've seen people driven mad by bank loans. Even though I don't lack money, that must be terrifying, right?"

Andasu said nothing.

It seemed there were more hidden truths behind the matter.

"So you don't want to join us for now, but would you take on a job?"

Li Ang pointed westward: "I want you to pilot an airship and take me for a spin inside the Rock Mountain Passage."

"I don't have a Flying Airship right now, you know that."

The Platinum King put Andasu's ship in as the winner's prize for the Flowing Silver Combat Skill tournament, Li Ang didn't understand why he did that.

"Do you know why?"

"He wants to crush my spirit, don't you already know?" Andasu said.

Li Ang always felt something was missing, although this was one purpose, but for a big chief like the Platinum King, there were other ways to suppress Andasu, but wouldn't he be tempted by the large wealth she won every year? There's no reason a Slave Master would find money enough.

Unless, letting someone else win brought him more profits.

"Then should I rent a ship or buy one?"

"Impossible to get one now." Andasu said: "Before the speed race starts, to limit competition, the leaders would stop these transactions."

That seemed to leave only getting her ship back.

Turn the Platinum Hall upside down? The current situation with the Bailong Sect was unknown, making rash actions difficult.

Flowing Silver Combat Skill... Li Ang began searching his memory for details about that combat competition.

Li Ang said to Andasu: "Now that we've captured Fukate, you don't need to worry in that regard, but it's best not to see the Platinum King again, after dawn, come with us to the Weapon House, then you can find your companions.

"Anyway, now that I'm in your hands, I can only listen, but to make me willingly be your slave, impossible."

Andasu sat down in a resigned manner; her actions weren't resisting, but clearly, she misunderstood some things entirely.
