"Do you witches have any special methods?"
"I'll try."
Li Ang put on the Divine Eye Helmet and exercised Spiritual Driving towards Fukate.
The magic power adjusted Fukate's spirituality, but it dissipated as soon as they changed, even with an increased magic output.
This wasn't unexpected for Li Ang; he had already achieved this effect in the past, only recently solidifying it into a specific Curse Art.
The principle of Spiritual Driving involves manipulating the complex spirituality of intelligent races to achieve the desired effect. Li Ang had known before that this manipulation would not work against opponents above the Excellence Realm.
Increasing tiers seems like an enhancement of the ability to harness magic power, but in essence, it's the practitioner's own spirituality.
Once you can create Pure Magic Material starting from Tier 7, each tier's strength is almost a qualitative change, the same for spirituality.
The spirituality of those in the Excellence Realm appears resilient and harmonious under the Spiritual Horizon of the Divine Eye Helmet, as if they're creatures evolving to a higher level.
Simple spiritual manipulation techniques don't work on this.
"Not possible for now," Li Ang said to Mort.
"You can't either?"
Mort looked troubled, perhaps because the rescue of Farina wasn't going as smoothly.
"Heh, you two short and cowardly fools, can't get women on your own and mess with others' affairs—what? You didn't get that White Wolf chick, did you? You powerless mage, was bitten off by her, and now you're acting like this!"
Fukate spat insults as soon as he opened his mouth, and Mort stuffed a cloth into his mouth.
He bit on the cloth, his eyes like a venomous snake's, glaring at the two full of hatred.
From the perspective of the sandland merchants, landing in someone else's hands meant certain death, and what they held most dear before dying was taking a chunk out of their opponents.
"Try asking the Platinum King again? Would your magic work on the Platinum King?" Mort asked.
"Yes, it works. I also plan to visit later, but that's a different matter."
Li Ang and Mort, being long-time visitors of the Holy City, were familiar with Guild rules. Not being Law Enforcers, they needed solid evidence to accuse members of the Order Sky Knight Corps.
They were now acting without prior approval; to explain themselves later, they must acquire material evidence or wait to resolve the Bailong Sect and find the evidence of its dealings with Fukate.
However, this all returned to the point of making him talk.
"If he won't talk in the end, we'll have to quietly deal with it," Mort calmly said.
This guy was indeed a lone wolf. Despite knowing the rules, who knows what he might do when unseen.
"Even if he's with the Sandstorm Corps, I don't recommend you do this," Li Ang replied.
The Order Sandstorm Corps' members had varied origins, given the chaotic nature of the entire Aerial Realm. Truly investigating everyone's background would be endless.
There'd long been rumors that some among them were pardoned marauders, though no one could prove this.
In any case, the consensus was they had issues. Mort might not have any mental burden based on that.
However, the Sandstorm Corps' captain could simultaneously control internal members and the entire Aerial Realm with methods effective in the Salem Sky Realm, which don't entirely align with the Guild.
If one of his subordinates went missing, it would trigger an unending investigation and pursuit by the Sandstorm Corps, which was why every force in the Sable Sky Realm feared them.
Fukate knew his Order Corps identity was his best weapon right now.
"Just because my magic can't take effect immediately doesn't mean it never will."
Li Ang kept observing Fukate's spirituality.
Since getting the Divine Eye Helmet, he'd been contemplating the practice of Curse Arts during spare moments. Surrounded by team members, he lacked test subjects; even intentionally searching, he couldn't find suitable targets in the Excellence Realm.
After all, it wasn't the period when one constantly fought at the Soul Apex.
This was precisely the ideal opportunity.
"It's pointless to speak too soon."
The dark golden mysterious eye imprinted on the black helmet gave Fukate an unsettling feeling of being watched by something eerie, prompting him to lean against the wall.
Li Ang targeted a line of Perception Spirit at him, amassing Level 9 magic power into a bundle, refining and miniaturizing it to the extreme, rotating and drilling it in.
"Mmm mmm uh uh uh—!"
Fukate convulsed uncontrollably, hitting his head hard against the cave wall before slumping down.
"Seems it can be shaken after all, just need to think of the right technique."
Fukate bit the white cloth, his eyes somewhat confused, then Li Ang's next drilling caused his body to fly sideways, rolling as if untied despite his bound limbs.
Li Ang picked up the helmet, watching him roll: "Provoking the motion spirituality can make the body exert force at angles previously impossible, fascinating."
Li Ang attempted to stimulate other spiritualities, with Fukate showing changes far beyond what he'd seen in affecting human spirituality before.
Gathering magic power again, he seemed to see Fukate shake his head.
He removed the Divine Eye Helmet and saw the man indeed shaking his head.
Half the defiance and malice in his eyes was gone.
His gaze moved downward, indicating the cloth stuffing his mouth.
Removing the white cloth, Li Ang asked, "Got something to say?"
Fukate, out of breath, replied, "What the hell kind of witchcraft are you using? You're—you're actually tearing apart my soul—"
"No more nonsense."
Just as he was about to stuff the cloth back, Fukate quickly said, "Wait, I can tell you where the Bailong Sect is, don't use it again."
"Just that? How did you hide from your colleagues in the Sandstorm Corps to transport magic dragon material out?"
Fukate hesitated for a moment, and Li Ang stuffed the white cloth back.
"Forget it, I've probably found a way; whether you talk or not is irrelevant now.
"You see, you started with a senseless outburst, but upon realizing I might control your fate, you yielded. Haven't you considered that at this point, your intentions don't matter anymore?
"To find a test subject in the Excellence Realm that's unhindered is rare; your bones better be tough."
Li Ang touched the cold helmet, feeling as calm as the Pure Magic Metal composing it.
"Take your time."
Mort gave Li Ang a deep look and left the cave.
It seemed he murmured, "I definitely don't want to offend this guy."
The test lasted three to four hours, leaving Fukate half-dead and curled up.
Li Ang walked over to Mort. "It's about time. I'm going to meet my team members; you take care of him."
Seeing Mort hesitate, Li Ang said, "Just say what's on your mind."
"He seems willing to confess now. Shouldn't we figure it out and rescue Farina first?"
"What he says might not be true, feeding us false information and allowing the Bailong Sect to ambush us is possible too."
Li Ang pondered, "Just a day or two, should get him to honestly reveal everything."
"Don't worry about Farina; she'll be fine. I want a complete plan, shifting the control to us."
The matters between the Platinum King, Bailong Sect, and Fukate were complex.
Li Ang believed wild demons' Dragon Transformation wasn't their main goal, as the residue from the Level 9 Magical Disaster had effects far beyond making Low Tier Demons Half Dragon Transformation, Dragon Transformation involving merely tapping into dissipated power.
Dragon Transformation varied greatly, yet the strength and quantity were limited, which raised some suspicions about that scope.
Li Ang also needed to strategize on getting White Wolf to willingly join, as considerations extended far beyond simply barging in to take out individuals.
He descended the Rock Mountain, dissected materials from the Giant Land Crocodile, and headed to the agreed rendezvous point with three young girls.
Returning to the Gobi desert where he parted with the girls in the morning, after a while, he saw their figures approaching from afar.
Each looked somewhat disheveled, but Zoe and ALulu at the front seemed in high spirits and uninjured.
Spotting Li Ang, Zoe dashed towards him.
Running, she shifted her stance—not to the Holy Snake Stance Li Ang knew.
The young girl with blue hair and beast ears leaped into his arms, clinging to him. The blue wolf tail behind her was long but couldn't wrap around him like a snake tail, only swaying back and forth vigorously.
"Look, Li Ang, look! I did it!"
