I Can See Health Bars in Real Life

Chapter 10: Your Wish Can Come True for Just 5 Yen

Descending along the building, Gu Mo, dressed as a hiker, attracted many glances. However, he kept his head down, using the brim of his sun hat to shield his face and wore a pair of sunglasses.

Moreover, he gave up the elevator that more people chose to use and instead descended the stairs step by step, thus avoiding the situation of being in close proximity with others in a relatively enclosed space. Although it seemed a bit strange, it didn't attract too much attention.

Reaching the first floor, he walked out of the building.

He ignored the flow of people and traffic on the street outside but pretended to nonchalantly glance again in the direction of the school.

It didn't seem to be what he initially imagined; this world wasn't absurd to the point of having a super monster that massacres cities and nations right at the start... His inspiration didn't sense any danger, and the Guardian Spirits showed no reaction. Even if it was possible that the thing hadn't discovered him or harbored no hostility towards him.

However, if the inherent threat level reached a certain point, the Guardian Spirit should have reacted whether or not the danger was directly targeting the host.

Even the people in this city were indifferent to it—

It could be seen that they weren't accustomed to it but genuinely hadn't noticed the presence of that thing. It seemed that in the vast majority of people's world and daily lives, there were no traces of being eroded by such abnormalities; from their perspective, it essentially didn't exist.

So Gu Mo was somewhat suspicious that the shadow might likely be all show, looking intimidating on the surface... Of course, this was just a suspicion for now. He didn't plan to approach and investigate it and merely wanted to see if that thing really hadn't noticed him.

After all, this might be a world view with some bizarre rules—like if something can't be seen, it doesn't exist, and once you can see the terrifying truth of the world, a connection is established. If those things discover you can see them, it's game over...

It's not impossible.

Just—

"Hmm?"

Gu Mo slightly widened his eyes, realizing that the enormous terrifying silhouette winding around the school had disappeared. At least from this angle, not a trace could be seen, and even the diffuse aura that made the sky appear to have a gray filter in his eyes had vanished.

Did it disappear during my descent from the building, or must it be viewed from a specific angle to be seen?

He looked up at the tall buildings above, pondering but decided against climbing back up to take another look. Instead, he adjusted the shoulder straps of his backpack, took a deep breath, glanced around a few times, and chose a direction to head towards.

He was initially worried that this starting point would be in the wilderness, so he did all he could to prepare, with a thick and solid backpack carrying over ten kilograms of survival supplies... From sunglasses to a military shovel, from a sleeping bag to a water filter, he brought them all.

After all, he was really concerned about his luck, fearing that the new level would be an awful start with a primitive and backward setting, and if he found no villages or signs of civilization in the wild, he would have to survive in the wilderness before tackling the level.

So naturally, he wanted to bring as much as he might need.

If it weren't impossible within his country, he would have considered finding some modern mainstream weapons, but unfortunately, that was out of reach.

Moreover, there's something off about wanting to obtain some firearms. He can already travel through worlds and level up, yet it seems harder to get a few guns… The system shop is utterly useless here. It's not expected to be as powerful as a main god's sphere, but at least offer more options.

Unfortunately, his routine of checking the daily refresh over this time revealed it couldn't be relied upon to be humane. There are only three purchase options, refreshed daily, mostly needing keys to exchange for premium items. Although there are options for direct purchase with general currency...

But they're relatively scarce and mostly not useful, or perhaps too useful, a bit beyond his current needs.

Like uranium material, which once appeared alongside "portable mini-nuke manufacturing." Not to mention whether he could afford it at the time, just seeing it appear left him stunned...

Winding through a narrow alley, Gu Mo set down the backpack he was carrying and then crouched down, unzipping it to rummage inside.

This time's start occurred directly in a modern city, with the time setting close to the twenty-first century he was from, rendering all his preparations useless. The heavy equipment and supplies were not only useless but needed to be disposed of quickly.

Of course, disposal wasn't that troublesome; simply throwing them away as trash here should be fine.

Considering some possibilities, he had already removed the tags of the items he bought back then to avoid revealing sensitive information like the production date... As for now, he plans to change into more casual clothing, swapping the outfit meant for outdoor activities.
