Chapter 24: Divine Fall? No! Demonization!

Something's not right, there must be a problem somewhere.

Gu Mo wielded the Ninety-nine Weapons with a stern face, the infinitely shining Snake Sword radiating magnificent brilliance. The power it contained was unimaginable, slicing through mundane matters with ease like a hot knife through wax. It was far beyond what could be described by the phrase "sharper than a sword."

I just wanted to hitch a ride, so how did I suddenly get involved in a personal grudge between Yato and Visakha, and now we're here fighting each other...

Someone definitely had to be responsible for this!

With this thought, he glanced back at Yato behind him, who grimaced at him, pleading with his eyes, and beside him was the bewildered Ichijima Hiyori, a faint, translucent tail trailing behind her.

She was in a state of soul separation, possibly leaving her body behind in that restaurant when she instantaneously moved over here with Yato...

I don't know if such a sudden fainting would cause any commotion, but at the moment, there was no time to worry about such matters.

Gu Mo took a deep breath. At the beginning, Visakha directly attacked, and then Yato decisively responded, fighting valiantly... However, he quickly fell into a disadvantage, probably due to Ichijima Hiyori being an unprepared Divine Artifact who lacked profound understanding.

Knowing the opponent was the famous Visakha, she became somewhat flustered, and combined with the risks Yato had mentioned, she was understandably a bit fearful. It's not her fault; it's unreasonable to expect a middle school girl to have the experience and confidence of a battle-hardened warrior.

This isn't Academy City; the courses and extracurricular activities for students are quite normal. Though her hobbies are somewhat unique, she has never fought before and possesses no inherent aggressive tendencies.

Moreover, since a Divine Artifact and its master are of one mind, Ichijima Hiyori's wavering naturally affected Yato's state. The hapless God of Poverty was no match for the single-mindedly vengeful Visakha, quickly falling into disadvantage. Without timely assistance from Gu Mo, both the Divine Artifact and its master might have been slain together!

"Who are you?!"

The golden-haired Goddess glared at Gu Mo angrily, having finally found such an opportunity, thinking she could easily fulfill her revenge. Unexpectedly, someone emerged out of nowhere, making her furious.

And the other party seemed even less pleased, what was this about?!

"Why did you intervene in this matter?!"

She shouted angrily, swinging her freely extendable long whip, which whipped the air, causing the wind to wail in anguish. Even just swiping past, the terrifying force was evident, leaving pockmarks on the ground, scattering dirt and stone fragments.

Wherever it passed, even a brush could slice through trees as thick as an adult's arms with ease!

Although it appeared to be an ordinary whip without flashy special effects, every simple swing possessed the power equivalent to that of a launched rocket.

However, this terrifying whip had no advantage when faced with the White Snake Sword, an incarnation of a god from another world... The greater attack range, usually a good advantage in long vs short weapons, was negated by the innate disparity between Divine Artifacts.

Just by lightly touching the gleaming brilliance, Visakha could immediately sense the tremendous impact transmitted to her wrist and the subsequent cries of the Divine Artifact in pain, seemingly overwhelmed...

This naturally left her astonished and furious.

"Is it a Wishing Artifact? But how could it... damn it!!"

Feeling the terrifying impact and pressure again, Visakha gritted her teeth, hearing the painful cries from her whip-like Divine Artifact again, she had to quickly retreat to put some distance between them.

She couldn't continue to fight head-on like this; such a heavy burden was beyond what Vińapā[whip wordplay a guess]—her whip-formed Divine Artifact—could endure. Just a couple of blows had it nearing its limit. If this continued, she didn't doubt that yet another of her Divine Artifacts would be decisively slain!

Her opponent hadn't specifically targeted this vulnerability, but the terrifying light from his hands was too overwhelming. Ordinary Divine Artifacts wouldn't last a blow or two in direct confrontations.

Ultimately, Divine Artifacts were essentially the undead, a transformation of human souls into tools manipulated by the Gods. Though not rare or special in certain circles, frequently exchanged by Yato and other well-off Gods, they too faced destruction.

"I didn't want to get involved in this either, but weren't you the one who attacked? Shouldn't I be allowed to fight back?"

Gu Mo sighed as he spoke. Dragged along from the moment things went awry, he had been entangled in this situation. Besides, they were just about to eat together; how could he possibly stand by and watch indifferently now?
