He Ate a Divine Dragon

Chapter 128 She Deserves It

As the old saying goes: when tolerance reaches its limit, one no longer needs to endure.

Even though Lin Xiao was terrified of leaving Su Qingning with the impression that he was a violent maniac, he couldn't care less when faced with this seductive vixen humiliating her so brazenly. After all, he was the damn Dragon Lord. How could he possibly allow his wife to be insulted like this?

SMACK!

With a crisp crack, the vixen, Zhao Qingqing, was sent flying, crashing hard onto the ground. She let out a piercing shriek, a sound as shrill as a pig being slaughtered. Clutching a face that was already swelling at a visible rate, she glared at Lin Xiao, her eyes blazing with fury.

She, the esteemed daughter of the Zhao Family, had just been slapped hard twice by a filthy beggar. Zhao Qingqing could not swallow such an insult!

"You useless bunch! What are you standing there for? Tear this filthy beggar apart for me!" Zhao Qingqing bellowed.

At her command, the dozen or so burly men moved to attack without a second thought. Su Qingning paled, instinctively moving to shield Lin Xiao.

But just then, a dark figure blurred past her, taking a stand in front of him. Lin Xiao's eyes focused. Who else could it be but Pei Donglai?

Pei Donglai stared down the dozen thugs with a murderous glint in his eyes. "A bunch of trash dare to act so brazenly before our Captain?" he sneered. "You're courting death. Kneel and apologize to our Captain right now. Otherwise, don't blame me for being ruthless!"

"You worthless security guard, who do you think you are? Get him! Take down this stinking guard, too!" Zhao Qingqing roared.

The thugs, each looking more vicious than the last, charged toward Pei Donglai.

Pei Donglai merely snorted, saying nothing more. He shot forward to meet them, moving like a tiger descending from the mountains.

"Don't kill them," Lin Xiao said in a low voice.

The words had barely left his mouth when screams erupted at the bar's entrance, punctuated by the sickening crunch of breaking bones. In the blink of an eye, five or six of the burly men were already on the ground, their faces twisted in agony.

But Pei Donglai didn't stop. He moved as if he were using a dragon-slaying blade to chop vegetables; with every fluid motion, another thug fell.

Seeing this, Zhao Qingqing was dumbfounded. She felt a tingling numbness crawl up her scalp, leaving her too shocked to speak. She had never, not even in her wildest dreams, imagined that this security guard's martial skill would be so terrifying. The dozen men she had brought with her today were elite fighters she had hired at great expense from the King of Jinling. She had been so sure they would deliver her vengeance. She never thought things would take such a turn.

Su Qingning wasn't as shocked as Zhao Qingqing; she already knew Pei Donglai was a formidable martial artist. Even so, the sheer ferocity of his skill made her scalp tingle. But beneath the shock, a deeper worry grew. She had thoroughly offended Zhao Qingqing today. Given Zhao Qingqing's character, she would stop at nothing to get revenge on her and Lin Xiao. Su Qingning wasn't afraid for herself, but she was terrified Zhao Qingqing would hire someone to viciously harm Lin Xiao.

At this realization, Su Qingning sighed heavily. If only Lin Xiao were this powerful, too…

After twisting the last thug's arm, Pei Donglai returned to Lin Xiao's side, his expression impassive. For him, a battle that lasted less than a minute was utterly dull. If Lin Xiao hadn't ordered him not to kill, Pei Donglai would have gladly wiped out every last one of them. Daring to disrespect his Captain? They deserved to die!

"Zhao Qingqing, you can go," Su Qingning suddenly said, her voice cold. "But before you do, let me warn you: if you dare to cause trouble for Lin Xiao again, I am not to be trifled with. Even a cornered dog will lash out, let alone a person!"

In truth, even without Su Qingning's words, Zhao Qingqing was already desperate to flee. Although she was seething with unwillingness—after all, Lin Xiao had not only crippled her brother's wrist but also wrecked her expensive sports car, and, to top it all off, slapped her twice—she knew that if she continued to press the issue, she would be the one to suffer. It was better to leave this place of conflict for now and find another opportunity to deal with him later.

Besides, her father was secretly plotting something with the King of Jinling. If everything went smoothly, the Zhao Family would soon have the backing of a powerful figure like him. When that happened, the King of Jinling could crush this filthy beggar with a mere flick of his finger.

At that thought, Zhao Qingqing snorted coldly. "Su Qingning, and you, filthy beggar, you just wait! This isn't over!"

With that threat, she turned and stormed away.

"Lin Xiao, come with me for a moment," Su Qingning said gravely.

"Okay, but honey, why don't you go to the office and wait for me? I just want to have a quick word with Pei Donglai. I'll be right there," Lin Xiao replied with a smile.

"Then be quick!"

"Alright!"

After watching Su Qingning leave, Lin Xiao turned to Pei Donglai. "Didn't I tell you to go buy a phone? How are you back so soon?"

"Captain, I was thinking of taking Rouge with me to buy it tomorrow," Pei Donglai said respectfully.

Lin Xiao nodded. "Good idea. See what Rouge likes and get it for her. I have one requirement, though."

"Captain, just give the order!"

"Don't be cheap. I'll be checking."

Pei Donglai acknowledged with a grateful nod.

"Alright, you can get back to it. I'm going to see my wife."

Pei Donglai hesitated as if he wanted to say something more.

"What is it? Is there something else?" Lin Xiao asked.

"Captain, I'm just a little curious," Pei Donglai said quickly.

"Curious why I've repeatedly told you not to go on a killing spree, yet I kill people freely in private?" Lin Xiao asked with a knowing smile.

Pei Donglai scratched his head, embarrassed. That was exactly what he was curious about. Lin Xiao was no ordinary man. Pei Donglai was certain there would be no consequences even if he did go on a rampage. After all, Lin Xiao had already killed countless people.

Lin Xiao nodded. "Before I answer that, let me ask you a question. What kind of person do you think my wife is?"

"Ms. Su is a kind-hearted person," Pei Donglai answered without hesitation. "She's fair in her dealings and never shows favoritism. Plus, she's good to every employee."

Lin Xiao nodded again. "So, do you understand now?"

Pei Donglai paused for a moment before it dawned on him. "Captain, you're afraid that killing in front of Ms. Su would scare her?"

"What woman would want to witness something like that?"

Pei Donglai nodded in complete agreement. "Indeed. After years of fighting in the Western Region, I've become accustomed to life and death. But for an ordinary person, something like that is truly frightening. It could haunt them for a lifetime. Captain, you treat Ms. Su so well!"

Images of Su Qingning fiercely defending him time and time again since their marriage flashed through Lin Xiao's mind. He smiled.

"She deserves even better from me," Lin Xiao said with conviction.
