Chapter 210: Xu Lei's Memory Recovery

After Ye Qiu left with Xu Lei, Xu Lei's father had all his men withdraw, and he was about to return to the building.

Just then, a blue Mercedes sports car drove up and stopped behind Xu Lei's father.

Then the car door opened, and out came a beautiful woman and a young man with red hair.

When the young man and the woman approached Xu Lei's father, the woman sweetly called out, "Daddy."

"Hmm."

Xu Lei's father dotingly patted his eldest daughter's head, then looked at the red-haired young man beside him and said, "Wang Xuan, how do you find our place? Are you satisfied?"

If Ye Qiu were here, he would be surprised to see this red-haired man because it was none other than Wang Xuan, Wang Xinrui's brother, whom he had let go.

Upon hearing Xu Lei's father's words, Wang Xuan respectfully nodded, "Thanks to Uncle Xu for not minding and giving this homeless dog a place to stay."

"Oh, Brother Wang Xuan, what are you saying?"

Xu Lei's eldest daughter, Xu Mei, affectionately came over to Wang Xuan and held his arm.

Seeing his daughter being so affectionate with Wang Xuan, Xu Lei's father squinted his eyes and said, "Wang Xuan, you don't need to be too sad or self-conscious. Consider this your home. You can treat me as your father. Your father and I crawled out of the same trench back in the day. He met with misfortune, so naturally, I have to look after his son."

Wang Xuan nodded, moved, and said, "Thank you, Uncle Xu, for taking me in. I will definitely serve Uncle Xu diligently in the future."

"Ah, there's no need for that. Just treat Xiao Mei well from now on."

Xu Lei's father said.

"Daddy."

Xu Mei blushed and then stole a glance at Wang Xuan. Wang Xuan cleared his throat and smiled at Xiao Mei, but inwardly he let out a light sigh.

...

After Ye Qiu left with Xu Lei, he quickly drove out of the city. Seeing that no one was chasing them from behind, he finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Although Xu Lei's father let them go, you never really know a person's intentions. Ye Qiu wasn't sure of his purpose, and he noticed the unsettling look Xu Lei's father gave Xu Lei, so he was worried he might have bad intentions towards her. That's why he drove away quickly the first chance he got.

With his driving skills, they had already reached Xu Lei's hometown county.

Throughout the journey, Ye Qiu noticed the growing confusion in Xu Lei's eyes. Sitting very quietly in the passenger seat, she was observing the streetscape around them.

Xu Lei had just come from the hospital where she got her head bandaged after hitting it while in Lin Jie's car.

Now, as they got closer to Xu Lei's hometown, it seemed like her thoughts were gradually shifting.

Seeing the obvious change in Xu Lei, Ye Qiu slowed down, as there was no longer any danger. He needed to let things ease a bit.

As the car slowed, the scenery and passing people outside became clearer in Xu Lei's view, making her beautiful big eyes flash with unusual glimmers.

"It seems there's a real chance that Sister Lei could recover her memory,"

Seeing Xu Lei seemingly recollect something and quietly watch the scene outside, Ye Qiu felt excited and expectant.

The purpose of bringing Xu Lei back to her hometown was to help her recover her memories. Seeing such a significant change even before reaching Xu Lei's hometown village made him very eager to get there.

Slowly, he picked up the pace, leaving the county behind and heading towards Xu Lei's old village.

Minlai County was in a remote area, surrounded by towering mountains, and Xu Lei's old home, Xu Family Village, was nestled in the mountains.

Fortunately, the government had funded the construction of Nipper Road, which led directly to the village, making Ye Qiu's journey smooth.

He purposely slowed down, driving leisurely towards Xu Family Village, because he noticed Xu Lei's eyes were shining even more brightly the more she saw the surrounding scenery.

"Stop the car."

Just as Ye Qiu rounded a bend, Xu Lei saw a clear lake below Nipper Road and shouted to Ye Qiu.

Noticing the intense gleam in Xu Lei's eyes, Ye Qiu quickly pulled over and got out of the car with Xu Lei.

As soon as she got out, Xu Lei briskly headed toward the lake.

"Sister Lei, be careful."

Ye Qiu also hastened to follow, fearing something might happen to her.

The two of them reached the lakeside, with Xu Lei standing there observing her surroundings. Her eyes seemed to flash with multiple images, sometimes looking under the trees, sometimes scooping up a handful of lake water, as if she were reminiscing about something.

Standing silently behind her, Ye Qiu didn't say a word, only watching Xu Lei. He knew she was on the verge of recovering her memory.

As he watched the scenes around him, he thought to himself, "Was it here that Sister Lei lived and grew up? Surely, this place holds deep memories for her."

Ye Qiu pondered, and just then, he suddenly perked up his ears, hearing the sound of sports cars speeding from afar.

"Are they racing? Racing here of all places?"

He turned to glance at his car parked by the roadside, feeling assured there was no obstruction for the racers.

While Ye Qiu was contemplating, several sports cars roared into view from the distance.

The lead car was a pure gold Ferrari, followed by several other costly sports cars.

As the golden Ferrari rounded a bend, Ye Qiu silently praised, "This person's driving skills aren't bad, at least at the level of the Bronze Car King."

While he admired the cars, suddenly a sports car behind skidded and crashed straight toward his car. Shocked, Ye Qiu cursed, "Damn, how could it crash into my car?"

Bam.

The sports car collided with Ye Qiu's car, knocking it off the road. The driver glanced at the car that had been knocked off and then looked at the approaching Ye Qiu, cursing, "What bad luck."

Then the driver shouted at Ye Qiu, "Don't park your car on the road next time."

"Damn, how arrogant is that?"

Ye Qiu watched the sports car speeding away with furrowed brows.

Then he called out to Xu Lei. After Xu Lei came over, he pushed the car back onto the road and angrily said, "Sister Lei, hold on tight."

He started the car, chasing after the person who had hit his car and then blamed him.

He didn't want an apology, but Ye Qiu wanted to let the other person know, "I'll park my car wherever I damn well please. It's not my fault your driving skills are poor."

Vroom.

Ye Qiu's car spun in the dirt, splattering wet mud. With the tires spinning and grinding, he got back on Nipper Road. Amidst a thick black exhaust, the second-hand Honda roared as it sped after the other cars.

Knowing too much time had passed, it would be hard to catch up with just skill. So Ye Qiu spoke to the system, "Activate Super Driving."
