Blood Online: Evolving Endlessly

Chapter 119: Breaking The Formation

The titan had shown its explosive powers, and after just that one exchange, Nyla was left with raspy breath, greedily dragging air into her lungs. Emo boy was dripping with sweat, hands still shaking from the aftermath of the clash with the titan's fist.

And Fright boy, perhaps the worst of them all, had blood running from the side of his mouth, but he gritted his teeth, standing firmly.

The three of them managed to handle the titan's outburst still standing, but their current condition made it clear that they weren't winning.... At least not if they continued like this.

Akhil watched frustratedly. For once... he felt more insignificant than garbage, and that feeling created a rather desperate, almost feral need for blood.

'I have to find a way to help them...' Akhil gritted his teeth. More than anyone... he knew how frightening the titan's abilities were, and their loss would only make things much worse than it already was.

Akhil threw his gaze around the battlefield, they were only small droplets of blood, '.... It's better than nothing..'

{Blood absorption activated}

He didn't know if he would be able to gather enough blood essence to do anything substantial, but that was the best he could think of at the moment. For now, he could only keep observing.

Nyla stepped forward confidently, a cold grin climbing up her face.

She threw a glance towards Emo boy. "Your shadow ability, it seems you can't keep it up for much longer?"

Emo boy gritted his teeth. "I c—"

"No need to push yourself further. It's safe if we're relying on your shadows, but I'm sure carrying two of us is a big burden. If we want to stand a chance against this titan, we don't need any burden..."

She couldn't see his eyes hidden behind his long hair, but she could tell the reluctance, seeing him clench his fist. "Don't worry, we'll be fine.... Fight with all you've got. We have to hold out till backup comes," Nyla said with a stern voice, her gaze fixed on the titan as she raised her daggers, eyes narrowing with a cold glint.

Hearing her reassurance, Emo boy held his scythe tightly, muttering something under his breath. The shadow beneath Nyla and James' feet wriggled as though they were alive before swiftly moving towards Emo boy and joining with his own shadows.

"You too, James! Be serious, use your abilities. We don't have Xavier's shadow helping us anymore."

Fright boy jolted slightly hearing her voice. "I'll do my best!" he yelled nervously, gripping his sickles tightly, the shift in his demeanor quickly noticeable as his gaze sharpened once more.

It was as though he was a chameleon of some sort, with an abrupt shift between deadly serious and timid. A scary mix that made him very unpredictable.

Despite the red eyes that brimmed with unreasonable rage, the titan stood calmly, with an unreadable expression on its face, one that made Nyla wonder for a slight moment what it had in its mind.

However, dwelling on such trivial things in a battlefield was perhaps a plea for death.

A powerful gust of cold wind burst out from her, causing her hair to stand tall. The air around her turned chilling cold, forming snowflakes that fell to the ground below her.

Ice wrapped her dagger like jagged ice veins, pulsing with lethal intent, adding another seventy centimeters to its height. From two short daggers, she now had two long, slightly curved blades with sharp, cold edges tightly held in her grasp.

Almost in sync, while she transformed, the other two also transformed.

James' chains rattled, and it seemed as though they grew their own consciousness, floating into the air while curling like snakes waiting to bite their prey. But it wasn't just his weapons; even his eyes turned into sharp slits, like that of a snake, scanning the field with a calculative, predatory gaze.

Xavier held up his scythe, the shadows beneath his feet moving like tentacles.

Nyla slashed her blade in two arcs. The air instantly thickened, turning into sharp ice walls by the side of the titan, locking it in that position.

Almost immediately, James disappeared from his spot, appearing behind the titan like a python about to wrap its prey. His chains rattled, coming to life as they wrapped tightly around the titan's muscles, limiting his movements.

The edges of the chains spiked, digging into the flesh of the titan. James dropped to the ground, digging the pointed end of his sickle into the ground and marching on them to make sure the titan couldn't move.

And then, from the two sides, in a blur, Nyla and Xavier moved at once, fast enough to leave afterimages where they once stood.

Coming from the right was Nyla, moving with a feline grace, her twin blades tracing arcs of ice that glittered before shattering behind her.

And from the left, Xavier seemed to have merged with the darkness, leaving a pitch-black trail behind him, so black that it devoured every light that came across it.

One would've thought for a moment that after Xavier had broken his shadow connection with the two, their perfect sync would've been interrupted.

But that wasn't the case at all. In less than a second, the three had locked the titan in one spot, and now Nyla and Xavier were heading for the final and most lethal blow.

With a loud roar, the two met the titan at the center at almost the same time. Nyla's twin blades cut through the space where the titan stood, one high and one low, perfectly coordinated to leave no room for escape.

Xavier's scythe came descending from above, carrying with it darkness that left nothing but decay and rot in its trail.

But the titan stood, almost unperturbed by their puny efforts. The muscles bulged, the patterns on its body glowing with powerful intensity.

A powerful surge of energy swelled through every vein. Its eyes glowed red with madness, the sharp edges of the chains sank into its body, drawing out blood. But such trivial pain was unable to pull it out of this state of pure, feral madness.

The titan's muscles bulged so much that it almost ripped. With a powerful force enough to move a mountain, the titan yanked the chains.

There was no resistance as James, along with his sickles, was ripped out of the earth and sent flying in Nyla's direction.

In that split second, they all watched in shock as their perfect coordination, that seemed almost impossible to break through, was falling apart under the brute strength of the titan.
