Blood Online: Evolving Endlessly

Chapter 121: Trump Card

The titan blasted forward with an astonishing speed, leaving a small crater from the point where it took off.

Akhil's breath hitched as he saw the titan coming at him full speed ahead.

'Shit! Screw thinking about that.... I'll deal with her later.' Akhil thought to himself as the blood swirled towards him.

Time seemed to slow down as he felt the shadow of the titan's large fist hovering above his head.

Nyla and James moved at once. James hurled his chains forward; they rattled violently as they tore through the air, racing toward the titan.

Nyla swung her blade with a cold glint in her eyes. The air itself stiffened, erupting into jagged ice spikes that followed the arc of her blade toward the titan.

But the titan was faster. Akhil could feel the intense heat stemming from the body of the titan, its fire-filled eyes staring down at him mercilessly as it brought down the terrifying fist.

The air parted violently, blasting Akhil's hair backward and leaving his face fully exposed beneath the descending fist.

But at the last minute, the notification flashed before Akhil's eyes.

{Blood Essence absorbed +50}

Akhil didn't bother trying to block his face; he had learnt from the brutal death of Xavier.

Instead, the first thought that came to his mind was stopping or at least, slowing that brutal fist no matter what it took.

As though reading his mind, the blood materialized, forming red blood chains that wrapped around the titan's fist.

The blood chains strained under the titan's overwhelming power, unable to stop the punch, but just barely slowing it for a fraction of a second.

That minuscule fraction of time that it held the titan's fist was enough for Nyla and James' attack to catch up.

James' chains wrapped around the titan; this time, one of the sickles followed along with the chain. As the chains wrapped around the titan, the sickle dug into the titan's flesh.

From both sides, walls of ice came, locking the hands of the titan in a spot.

A trickle of blood ran from Akhil's nose as the compressed shockwave from the punch screamed past his face.

It made him imagine what would've been his fate if the titan landed the solid punch on his face. He felt a wave of relief as he saw the wall of ice blocking the view of the titan, leaving only its hand on the other side.

"We're getting out of here!" Before he could even relax for a bit, he heard Nyla's voice. "Seems the others are still tied up with the other titan; we can't deal with this one alone. If we try to do that....."

She didn't need to say much; they could already tell the outcome of a prolonged battle with the titan.

Akhil could barely stand. He fell on his butt right after surviving the death punch. Nyla and James looked battered, and they had lost Xavier already.

"So the others are dealing with a titan as well?" Akhil asked with surprise.

"The moment the dwarves arrived and we elves entered the southern district, the Titan of Discord fully awakened," Nyla said grimly. "That's when everything spiraled out of control."Nyla explained. "I didn't even know that the bastard was a titan.... He tricked all of us," she hissed just from the thoughts of the lies Langdon had fed them all through the time.

'Langdon regained his full power when they arrived… that's why the timer started dropping so fast. How much did this guy plan ahead?' Akhil quickly assessed the situation from what she said.

"So all the bots in the city are now attacking?" Akhil asked with a raised brow.

"Thanks to the message you sent with the emblem, they dealt with most of the bots before he got full control.... But that's not the main issue..."

Nyla was interrupted as cracks began spreading all over the ice walls.

"We need to start moving... If we take the fight where the others are, with our numbers, it'll be slightly easier to deal with the two titans at the same time."

"Yeah, let's go see how the others are faring," Akhil said weakly.

James' chains wrapped around Akhil, lifting him off the ground. Akhil's gaze snapped to Seth's unconscious body nearby.

"Take him too," he said weakly.

"Do you know him?" Nyla asked.

"It's Seth."

"That leech is with you again," Nyla hissed, but the cracks in the ice walls grew wider.

Their expressions hardened.

James glanced at Seth before quickly wrapping him in the chain and lifting him up with seamless ease.

With that, he released the titan from his chains, and they quickly made their way for the walls of the administrative block.

Nyla glanced at Xavier's headless body one last time before following the group.

BOOOM!

Just as he released his chains, the ice walls shattered with a powerful boom.

The titan's rage-filled eyes locked on the group of four. It hurriedly followed on their tail.

James was carrying both Akhil and Seth with his chains, most of their weight carried by the chains, while Nyla followed behind the group, sending arcs upon arcs of ice to slow down the titan.

The arcs of cold ice whipped against the tough skin of the titan. But those sharp arcs of ice that could turn things into sculptures of ice before shattering them only left a thin layer of ice on the body of the titan before melting away like hot wax.

James didn't waste any time as he neared the wall. He threw one of the sickle ends over the wall; they dug into the hard concrete on the other side, and with that, he pulled with one powerful tug, carrying them over the fence.

Nyla swiped her blade in front, creating a smooth ice path ahead that led all the way to the top of the wall. She swiftly used the ice path, jumping over the wall with the others.

The titan didn't care about all the cool aesthetics; it drove straight through the wall of the admin block, chasing right after them.

The group didn't slow down either, as they were all running in one direction.

In the distance, a massive bot towered over the city, sparks and flares bursting constantly around its colossal frame.

It was obvious that a fight was happening there. He didn't need anyone to tell him who it was, as he could already take a guess from what Nyla had told him earlier.

"That's it, right?" Akhil asked, his eyes still fixed on the bot in the distance.

"Yes, that's the second titan."

Remembering that it was Langdon leading everything all along sent a feeling of betrayal and anger running down his chest.

"This bastard is catching up!" Nyla shouted as she shot out several arcs of ice at the titan, but it persisted. "I don't think it'll be wise to take this titan to that side... It doesn't look like the others are dealing with the one they're already facing," Nyla added, clearly confused on what to do with the titan.

If they took the titan to the other side and the others weren't faring any better, then they would all die, and if they decided to fight the titan head-on, they would die as well.

The tension in the air was palpable, and the odds seemed to be stacked against them.

Akhil glanced back weakly, his expression unreadable. "Don't worry. Lure the titan to the others," Akhil said weakly. "It'll be our best chance to end this fight once and for all."

Nyla and James glanced at him in surprise. Akhil didn't look like he was even in a state to fight, yet now he was talking about putting everything to an end?

"Did that punch mistakenly hit you?" Nyla threw the question without a second thought; she had to be sure her brother hadn't gone mad just yet.

"No, I've got one last trump card up my sleeve... If it works right, I'll deal with the two of them."

Nyla stared at her brother with doubt. It was hard believing his words. "You do know this isn't the beta test? There's no respawn here, for you or anyone else... Don't take risks that'll put us all in trouble!" Nyla yelled, still throwing arcs of ice to keep the titan at bay.

"Trust me, let's get to the others first," Akhil said, his eyes unwavering.

Nyla had doubts, but seeing that look in his eyes... she couldn't help but place slight hope in her brother.

"Alright then, we're getting closer.... So you can try what you want to when we get there," she said as the large bot came closer into view.

Akhil's gaze steeled as he shifted his gaze between the two titans.

'I didn't want to use this ability—I'm still not sure what it'll cost me… but it's the only one that doesn't require blood essence.'

His crimson eyes shone with resolve as they arrived at the area where the others were fighting off the titan.
