After finishing lunch with Chu Wei, Wang Zhifan drove her to work and then continued to wander leisurely around Dongjiang City.
First, he strolled through the city park, then headed to Tianhua Street to check for any good equipment for sale. Ultimately, he even remembered the two-hundred-square-meter apartment he rented in the city center and made a point to return there for an afternoon nap.
Speaking of this rental apartment, Wang Zhifan felt a bit pained by it. Even though it cost fifteen thousand a month, which wasn't cheap, after just a few days there, he was busy setting up the East City Villa for the Profound Mysterious Secret Mansion and most certainly wouldn't frequent the apartment anymore. That fifteen thousand was practically thrown down the drain.
His current wealth meant rationally he didn't worry over such minor losses, yet his habits from regular days still made him a tad mindful of such expenses.
After wandering aimlessly for a good part of the day, feeling completely relaxed, Wang Zhifan drove back to East City Villa, the base he uses now and for the future. Then, he swam in the large villa's pool, returned to the mansion next door to shower and change, and opened the wardrobe in the bedroom to enter the hidden Profound Mysterious Secret Mansion.
"Time to train seriously."
Having eaten and played well, Wang Zhifan didn't slack on getting down to business. He quickly began efficient training in the strange, dim space. This session lasted quite a while; he entered the mansion around 5:00 PM and stayed until around 10:00 AM the next day.
"My stats increased again, and I feel the next tier of the Great Dream Saber Scripture isn't far off. Maybe in another two or three days, I might break through."
Now, Wang Zhifan had exited the Profound Mysterious Secret Mansion and returned to the mansion's bedroom. He checked his personal panel and found, as with his first training session there, his physique and Spirit had grown more, even if not as significantly as the first time, only by 2 points across all attributes. But overnight, such gains were still impressive, not to mention the mansion's true benefit was accelerating training speed, which had already proven immensely helpful.
"My physical state feels great, no need to catch up on sleep, so I'll just eat a bit and then tackle today's dungeon."
After training, Wang Zhifan didn't dawdle. He quickly assessed his condition and decided to get right to work.
It's not about loving overwork, just that his physical quality now far surpassed human standards. There was no need to sleep seven or eight hours daily as before; his requirement for sleep and rest was significantly reduced, freeing up much more time to work.
Freshened up, Wang Zhifan quickly found a place on the street to satisfy his hunger, then returned to the villa to prepare for the dungeon raid.
"The reserve ingredients in my personal space are still plentiful... seems no need to visit the Wuji Sect world for replenishment; let's start straightaway."
After checking all preparations, fully equipped, he solemnly activated today's dungeon.
As a sensation of temporary disorientation quickly dispersed, Wang Zhifan found himself in a wilderness littered with rubble and wild grass.
Looking across the wilderness, the atmosphere was bizarre; the sky was gloomy as though rain was imminent, and through the heavy overcast, rigid silhouettes in the distance moved slowly.
"Where's my team? Is this a solo dungeon?"
Seeing no other players around and sensing no other humans in his range, the thought occurred to Wang Zhifan as he stood in the dark wilds.
But he didn't have to ponder long before a light screen flashed before his eyes.
[Dungeon Objective: Survive in the current world for seven days.]
[Note 1: There will be no reward settlement at the end of this dungeon; surviving the full time will force all players out.]
[Note 2: In this world, monsters may drop equipment, materials, etc., when killed. The stronger the monster, the better the expected quality of drops.]
[Note 3: This world has NPCs selling and crafting equipment; any obtained through any means can be taken out after the dungeon ends.]
[Note 4: Player PvP combat in this world won't trigger penalty mechanics.]
"This dungeon is interesting... no rewards settle, but it's possible to fight monsters for drops... players can freely engage in PvP without fearing penalties..."
Briefly pondering the information that appeared, Wang Zhifan realized he was mistaken thinking it was a solo dungeon. It must be a PvP type, separating players initially to prevent immediate massive-scale fighting.
"With NPCs selling and crafting equipment... there must be NPC factions in this world... could be worthwhile to find one, surviving seven days in the wild could be tough otherwise."
As these thoughts passed, Wang Zhifan's gaze shifted to the stumbling figures in the distant wilderness. They clearly weren't human, more like some kind of undead, or monsters.
"I'll take down a few monsters to test the waters."
Given the dungeon prompt already mentioned monster kills could yield drops, Wang Zhifan didn't hold back. He figured his special skills would certainly be advantageous in this dungeon.
He soon retrieved equipment from his personal space—an exceptional Endless Sniper Rifle he hadn't used in a while—beginning his long-range aim and fire.
It wasn't his only option for ranged attacks, but he suddenly wanted to check if his shooting skills had lapsed.
Bam!
The echo of a gunshot followed as Wang Zhifan squeezed the trigger, and a distant staggering figure exploded instantly, scattering in pieces across the wild air.
Likewise, a reward list banner he knew well appeared before him.
[Please choose your reward (select up to 2 items)]
[Common Tier (8% drop rate):]
[Short Sword (Common), Round Shield (Common), Longbow (Common)... Zombie's Claw (Common), Zombie Meat Chunk (Common)...]
[Fine Layer (0.1% drop rate)]
[Short Sword (Fine), Round Shield (Fine), Longbow (Fine)... Zombie's Claw (Fine), Zombie Meat Chunk (Fine)...]
"The monster's drop rates are low, barely 10%... Those Fine Layer equipment and materials seem unimpressive, not very useful to me... though maybe I could sell them to NPCs..."
After a few glances at the detailed reward list content, Wang Zhifan confirmed the monster he killed didn't drop any gear of interest. Perhaps he could sell them off as scrap.
