Global Game: I Can Choose Instance Rewards

Chapter 182: Choices and a Pleasant Surprise

"These rewards feel a bit hard to choose... but it's not because they are all useful to me, rather, they all seem useful yet not quite that useful..."

Looking at the list of rewards in front of him, Wang Zhifan found himself slightly conflicted. He needed to choose three items from these options, and there was only one highest level of Outstanding reward. He had to choose from multiple rare-level rewards, but these rewards seemed like they were kind of useful yet kind of not.

"The Banshee's Hat looks like it's meant for Mages. Its Spirit attribute requirement far exceeds mine, but I neither have any Magic skills nor Mana. If I got this equipment, I'd either sell it or hold onto it for future use. But in the future, I surely will have better similar equipment, and I'm not likely to switch to a Mage class."

Wang Zhifan immediately ruled out the Banshee's Hat. Mainly because it's something he wasn't in desperate need of selling for money, and he no longer lacked money like he once did.

"The Monster Armor looks flashy, but my Invisible Deceitful Clothing totally beats it, so it's also not a priority."

"The Hand of Enslavement seems interesting, but the effect of enslaving life forms also has a large downside, which might not be particularly useful."

"The Hunger Belt seems more suitable for me. The increased appetite isn't too big of a downside, and the healing effect with a 16-point strength constitution bonus seems good. But compared to my current Iron Mountain Belt, which adds physical damage reduction, it doesn't seem particularly advantageous either."

"The Horned Demon Bracelet seems a bit lacking. I don't particularly need Defense now, especially since increasing Defense would lead to a loss in agility, which is counterproductive."

"The Swamp Maggot seems to be quite a decent summon. While I could use it, it would be better sold to a summoning profession with more money to spare."

"Tulimor's Whip is kind of novel, but it won't help me much because I already have the Ice Source Power which is a hundred times stronger in control effects. However, it is rare to see its feature of bleeding percentage of maximum life upon attacking a life form."

Sweeping his gaze over each rare-level option in front of him, Wang Zhifan evaluated the approximate value of these things for himself. Finally, he found that indeed none of them were particularly useful; they could only be considered barely usable.

"This Outstanding level Monster Nest doesn't quite suit me either. If a summoning class player got it, they would soar, quickly able to form their monster army. But as a Warrior, I don't get various summoning skill bonuses and can't spend too much effort in this area. It's really a waste... but I still have to choose it."

Having killed the first BOSS in this instance, Wang Zhifan felt both happy and regretful. Happy because the process was particularly smooth without unexpected occurrences, regretful because the rewards were somewhat awkward—none bad, but none quite fit him.

"I choose... Monster Nest, Tulimor's Whip, Hunger Belt."

Without further hesitation, he made a decisive choice, which might not be the best but should not be the worst either, they're just a few rare-level items that won't make much difference to him now.

But after making this reward choice, Wang Zhifan discovered something a bit speechless. After the previous reward list was closed, a new reward list appeared in front of him, and not just one layer!

[Please choose your rewards (choose up to 2 items)]

[Normal Level (8% drop rate):]

[...]

[Fine Layer (0.1% drop rate):]

[...]

"Damn... these are probably the reward lists from the newly spawned monsters that got insta-killed by the aftermath of my attacks earlier! Couldn't they just merge with the BOSS reward list?!"

Wang Zhifan felt extremely speechless. He quickly scanned through these reward options that appeared due to the 'meat particles' getting hit by the wave of attacks earlier, and hurriedly chose two Fine Layer items at random. To his surprise, he found himself making over ten selections before finishing, worrying about whether his inventory could hold so many items.

"I need to quickly find a place to sell off all the unwanted Fine Layer gear, or else I would either have to carry gear that can't fit me or just throw them away."

After bustling for more than ten seconds, Wang Zhifan felt some helplessness. Having too many loots to fit might be a dream-come-true for others, but for him, it's a hassle. He didn't even want to take down those weakling monsters yielding no good gear.

"Better go deal with those elite monsters above. They may yield rare-level equipment."

Although Fine Layer items gradually failed to catch Wang Zhifan's attention, he still cared about rare-level items and wouldn't let them go like those small monsters, missing the chance to acquire new equipment.

Subsequently, he reactivated the deceitful abilities of his Deceitful Shadow Shoes, combined with Shadow abilities' acceleration passive and reduced presence, shot up to the top of this underground space in a blink, focusing on hunting those elite monsters he previously discovered using his three Dream selves.

Details of this hunting process are unnecessary since the bosses that produced them were directly overpowered by Wang Zhifan's fierce assault. Those monsters, at least a level lower in power, were no match. They were either instant killed by his Ice Source Power or silently taken out by his Wolf-Slaying Blade.

Wang Zhifan chose to use the Wolf-Slaying Blade instead of the Thunder Dragon Fury used in previous battles out of fear of those ridiculous mini pop-ups. He wanted to avoid the Thunder Dragon Fury's thunderstorm effect inadvertently insta-killing a whole bunch of monsters and facing layer after layer of trivial reward options.

However, part of these elite monster rewards surprisingly gave Wang Zhifan a small delight because he found some options more suited to him than the previous BOSS's.

For instance, after freezing and instantly killing a particularly strong, horned, and clawed tall monster, his reward list revealed such a rare-level option:

[Giant Strength Bracelet (Rare)]

[When you wear this bracelet, your Strength attribute increases by 15%.]

This bracelet, which increases the Strength attribute percentage-wise, happened to suit his Warrior profession. Although a 15% increase might not be significant for players whose Strength attribute struggles to reach 20, Wang Zhifan's current base Strength attribute was 47 points, and with considerable future improvement potential, this equipment was quite fitting for him, more practical than the Fine Layer Frenzy Bracelet he was wearing.
