Global Game: I Can Choose Instance Rewards

Chapter 63: Various Zombies A Peaceful Night

The joy of successfully cultivating filled Wang Zhifan's heart, but besides being happy, he also felt a little exhausted. After all, he had just spent ten hours cultivating in the dream, which was no small consumption of spiritual power.

"I should really take a rest, the night before entering this instance, I had already spent a fair amount of time cultivating in the dream, and combined with now, I'm indeed a bit fatigued."

With a single thought, he manipulated the dream self that looked exactly like him before disappearing instantly. This was an ability unique to the dream self, allowing them to return directly to Wang Zhifan's dream within a certain range around him as the dream master. If Wang Zhifan wished, he could summon them back out at any time.

It was referred to as "them" instead of "it" because the number of dream selves cultivated by the Great Dream Saber Scripture was not limited to one, and there was not even an actual limit on their number. How many dream selves there could be entirely depended on the cultivator's ability and needs. If the cultivator had extremely strong cultivation and believed he could manage it, he could create ten thousand dream selves at once.

After retracting his first cultivated dream self back into the dream, Wang Zhifan then sat on the sofa to replenish his energy.

He took out canned salted fish, beef, fruit, and potato chips, along with bottled purified water, cola, and fruit wine from his personal space, and began eating and drinking leisurely.

If not for the indoor environment becoming darker with the setting sun outside, and the surrounding air filled with a foul stench due to the multitude of zombies, he might have genuinely been enjoying himself.

But in such a perilous Great Catastrophe instance, typical players would be grateful just to survive and pass the level, not to mention Wang Zhifan, who was fortunate enough to sit in the boss's office drinking by himself, had nothing to complain about.

After some time and with his stomach filled, Wang Zhifan saw that the sky outside the glass curtain wall of the room had risen with the moon. The moonlight was quite bright, replacing the daytime sun in illuminating this Zombie City.

He then got up from the sofa and walked to the glass curtain wall, observing the streets outside through the window. He found that the nearby streets, which had fewer zombies due to some players' efforts during the day, had become lively again at night, and it was quite lively. The number of zombies wandering the streets had doubled compared to the daytime when they were not yet cleared!

"This really seems to have a bit of a zombie tide feeling... It seems this instance is more dangerous at night than during the day. I wonder if those eleven players have found a hiding place."

Wang Zhifan observed the zombie horde surging through the city's streets in the moonlight, pondering in his mind.

His eyesight was excellent, and relying on the bright moonlight, he could clearly see the appearances of the large groups of zombies nearby. Then he discovered that on this night, there were already types of zombies he had never seen during the day.

For example, right below the boss's office on the third floor of this commercial building where he stayed, among the large number of zombies wandering on the street, there was a bloated zombie carrying a large stereo speaker on its shoulder. It was slowly moving forward with its fat body carrying the huge speaker, while its finger kept fiddling with the buttons on the speaker, as if trying to play some beautiful music. But unfortunately, its efforts were obviously futile, as a single speaker without power or other equipment could only be a piece of junk.

Near the large-bodied speaker zombie, Wang Zhifan also found a short zombie wielding two kitchen knives, a tall and strong zombie holding a large chainsaw, and a chubby zombie constantly tossing some solid sphere looking like a shot put. He even saw a zombie in military uniform seemingly holding a firearm, though he did not know if the weapon in its hands could truly fire.

"Can zombies really have so many varieties? If there really are zombies capable of shooting, then the players will be in trouble."

In Wang Zhifan's personal view, zombies were essentially beast-like humanoid corpses. Apart from some special individual abilities that might be rather particular, most relied on the most primitive hand-to-hand physical attacks or mouth bites, usually gaining an advantage with numbers rather than quality. However, judging from the street scene he observed, the zombies in this Great Catastrophe instance were not as simple. Many of them, based on appearance alone, were beyond the scope of ordinary zombies.

"Outside, besides the large numbers of wandering zombies, there is no light except for the moonlight, nor the presence of a single player. Obviously, everyone knows that at times like these, it's best to hide and avoid the edge... I should also take a good rest."

With this thought, Wang Zhifan turned back to the sofa against the wall, moving it flat to form a simple bed, then took out two sets of quilts and a large pillow he had acquired from the supermarket from his personal space. He used one quilt as padding and the other to cover himself, laying comfortably on the bed and beginning to rest.

Considering the current environment was not absolutely safe and needing to guard against potential boss-level monsters that might appear at any moment, Wang Zhifan once again slept through reciting the Great Dream Saber Scripture Meditation Skill in his mind. In this state, he could observe the surrounding situation with his eyes closed, but since his spirit was already a bit fatigued, he didn't intend to cultivate. He projected the initially cultivated dream self into the dream, blocking the door of the room.

The dream self, as a spiritual avatar cultivated by Great Dream Saber Scripture cultivators, could not act autonomously in low to intermediate stages. It was merely a shell and required the dream master, i.e., the cultivator himself, to manipulate everything. However, letting the dream self out had three benefits: as an extension of the dream master's body, it could expand the dream master's perception range, attract some enemies' attention, and pass through physical barriers and possess certain attack capabilities, allowing Wang Zhifan to better handle threats that might suddenly arise from outside.

After setting these defenses, Wang Zhifan then fell into a deep sleep in the special dream constructed by the Great Dream Saber Scripture Meditation Skill. He did not create any dream scenes for himself, just letting the dream become pure blankness. He did not start cultivating a second dream self, completely relaxing his spirit as if he were having a dreamless sleep, allowing him to efficiently soothe his spirit.

After such a night, Wang Zhifan went through a relatively peaceful first day of the instance and proceeded to the second day of the Great Catastrophe instance.
