Chapter 81: Dragon Peak Trial

In the icy world, the biting wind whistled, and a towering snow mountain stood majestic over the vast white land.

At this moment, at the foot of the snow mountain, at the entrance of a stone path winding its way to the mountain top, the figures of three men and one woman suddenly appeared out of thin air.

[Dungeon Objective: Climb the mountain path in front of you and complete the Dragon Peak Trial.]

Wang Zhifan was the first among the four players to regain his composure. As soon as he shook off the daze, he discovered that the objective prompt for this dungeon had already appeared before him, saying that players need to complete a trial.

"Dragon Peak Trial... I think I heard someone mention it on the forums, seems like it involves fighting dragons..."

Similar to the last Great Catastrophe dungeon, Wang Zhifan realized that he might have seen people talking about this dungeon on the forums. It seemed like some time had passed, and he couldn't recall much of the information. After all, this dungeon is only encountered from Lv10 onwards, and it wasn't something he paid special attention to at the time.

"Hey there, want a smoke? In this Dragon Peak dungeon, everyone has to work together. If anyone finds a great pet, I'll buy it for a high price."

Before Wang Zhifan could sort through the vague information about the current dungeon, a middle-aged man wearing a leather coat, about forty, standing opposite him, took out a finely packed cigarette and a high-end windproof lighter from his personal space and enthusiastically offered it to a young player holding a rifle beside him.

"Phew... Big brother, are you a summoner?"

The young player with the rifle beside the middle-aged man in a leather coat took the cigarette offered, lit it with the windproof lighter, put it in his mouth, took a puff, and blew out a smoke ring before replying to him like this.

"You guessed right, little brother. I am indeed in the summoner class."

The middle-aged man in the leather coat smiled at the young player with the rifle who was smoking and then continued:

"But this is my first time doing the Dragon Peak dungeon. I've heard many people say this dungeon can drop good summoning pets, so I finally encountered it this time, and I'm hoping everyone can cooperate to clear the dungeon and open the treasure chest smoothly."

"So if I complete the dungeon and open a Fine Layer summoning object, how much would you pay for it?"

As soon as the middle-aged man's words were done, a young female player standing on his other side, also the only female player present, suddenly asked him.

She was a slender young woman in her twenties, wearing a thin, fitted black outfit that accentuated her figure, showing no signs of fear of the cold despite the howling wind. She held a white long knife in her right hand and a black pistol in her left, with weapon setup very similar to that of Wang Zhifan, who stood next to her.

"Missy, you must know that Fine Layer items aren't worth much to players at our level. I can offer a maximum of 100,000 for one. If it's a rare pet, I can offer at least eight million for one."

The middle-aged man in the leather coat turned to look at the female player who was questioning him, and replied with a smile on his face.

"Hmm... your price is quite fair."

The young woman in the fitted black outfit nodded after listening, indicating she agreed with his offer.

"Do you want a cigarette, miss?"

The middle-aged player in the leather coat then offered the cigarette and lighter towards the female player and asked her.

"No need."

The female player shook her head and then glanced at Wang Zhifan standing beside her, who had been silent. A hint of surprise flickered in her eyes, probably because she noticed that this teammate's dual weapons were quite similar to her own.

Then, having been refused by the female player, the middle-aged player in the leather coat turned with a smile toward Wang Zhifan, standing in front of him, inviting him to have a cigarette as well to refresh himself.

"Thank you, but I don't smoke."

Wang Zhifan politely replied immediately, shaking his head.

"What class are you? Gunman? Blade Master?"

Out of nowhere, the long-haired young woman in black suddenly spoke to Wang Zhifan, possibly because she felt increasingly curious about the similarities she perceived between them.

"I'm a Blade Master."

Wang Zhifan didn't hide it. Sharing your class with teammates is a basic courtesy.

"Really... I'm also a Blade Master. I can't believe I'm at level 18 and it's the first time I'm teaming up with someone from the same class."

The long-haired young woman stared keenly at Wang Zhifan, as if seeing another player of her class was quite rare.

"You all are Lv18? I'm just Lv15."

Upon hearing the young woman claim to be a Blade Master, Wang Zhifan frowned slightly. It seems he smelled the dungeon's trickery. His actual level was Lv4, possibly not even close to his teammates' levels.

"I'm Lv17, a gunman."

The young man holding a rifle and smoking responded quickly.

"I'm Lv19, a Beast Tamer."

The middle-aged player in the leather coat spoke up after reporting his level and class and then brought up a more critical question:

"Have you heard of the one-dragon, two-dragons, three-dragons saying regarding this Dragon Peak dungeon? It refers to the three different difficulty levels of the final boss battle.

Generally, dungeon levels below Lv20 involve fighting one dragon, but with our group, don't underestimate this Blade Master brother for being just Lv15. His equipment looks pretty decent, so maybe the dungeon will judge our strength level at Lv20, meaning we might end up fighting two dragons. I hope everyone mentally prepares for that."

The Lv19 middle-aged player in the leather coat seemed to understand the Dragon Peak Trial dungeon quite well and pointed out the potential hidden risks.

"Two dragons? If it turns out to be two dragons, that might be tricky... I remember there are quite a few elite monsters to deal with before the dragon fights in this dungeon, and our team doesn't have a priest. If someone gets injured along the way, we might manage against one dragon, but two dragons will make it tough to clear."

The Lv17 gunman young man said with a furrowed brow, understanding well that dragons aren't the only adversaries in this dungeon and recognizing the many obstacles to the summit, which come with risks that cannot be ignored.

"The little brother said it perfectly... and you probably don't know that the two-dragon boss isn't just double the strength of the one-dragon boss. Based on my collected data, each two-dragon boss is individually stronger than the one-dragon boss, making it much harder overall than only one dragon.

However, should we indeed encounter two dragons, I'll pull out some of my hidden skills. As long as everyone works together, we can surely manage to clear it, so encountering two dragons wouldn't necessarily be all bad. As everyone should know, the higher the difficulty, the better the rewards."

The middle-aged player in the leather coat continued.
