Chapter 80: Time Cannot Be Held Back

In the early morning, Mo Jingchun, who had just woken up, squinted his eyes, lazily twisted his neck, and then glanced at the little one beside him.

Seeing the little one still sleeping soundly, Mo Jingchun's lips curved into a smile.

It was just a simple, carefree smile, but it made Mo Jingchun feel something unusual on his face. What happened, why does the right side of my face hurt a bit?

Mo Jingchun just raised an eyebrow slightly and didn't take it to heart, thinking it was just because he hadn't slept well last night.

After getting dressed, Mo Jingchun went to the bathroom to brush his teeth and wash his face.

While brushing his teeth, Mo Jingchun looked up at himself in the mirror and was stunned.

The toothpaste foam at the corner of his mouth didn't even have a chance to be wiped away as Mo Jingchun reached out to touch his swollen right cheek.

What's going on, why is the right side of my face swollen for no reason?

Even if I stayed up late and slept a little later, it wouldn't be like this, right? Besides, staying up late should result in puffy eyes, so why is my face swollen instead?

Mo Jingchun was completely puzzled.

After washing his face and returning to the bedroom, Mo Jingchun, while touching his right cheek, was lost in thought.

Accepting reality, Mo Jingchun sighed and thought to himself, "Looks like I can't go out today. If the neighbors see this, they'd definitely laugh their heads off."

Perhaps the noise from brushing teeth and washing woke the little one, as when Mo Jingchun returned to the bedroom, with just a glance, he saw the little one had opened her bright big eyes.

Facing his sister, Mo Jingchun immediately smiled, even temporarily forgetting about his swollen right cheek.

The little one tilted her head and glanced at Mo Jingchun, but she didn't laugh out loud this time. In fact, her little eyes were dodging and she didn't dare to look directly at Mo Jingchun.

"Candy, you're awake."

Mo Jingchun smiled as he pinched his sister Candy's cheek. The little one let Mo Jingchun twist without resistance.

Since Mo Jingchun didn't plan to go out today, he dressed the little one in not-too-thick clothes so she could move freely.

With air conditioning on, there's no fear of the little one catching a cold.

The little one washed her face, seemingly having already forgotten about something.

After drinking milk, the little one seemed to have completely forgotten about that little kick, happily sitting on the Ultraman plush, playing with toys.

Mo Jingchun's breakfast was even simpler, a bowl of plain porridge with a few unchopped sour beans.

The sour beans weren't salty, tasting tangy and highly appetizing. With tears in his eyes, Mo Jingchun finished two big bowls of porridge.

The inexplicable swelling came quickly and went away just as fast. By the next morning, when Mo Jingchun looked in the mirror, his previously swollen right cheek had subsided, almost as if it had never been swollen at all.

As days went by, ever since learning to stand by holding onto the bedpost, the little one became more lively and adorable.

It's just a matter of curiosity whether, once the little one learns to run, she will become a cheeky street kid running around all over and too fast to catch up with.

Leisure time is always short, passing quickly.

On the thirteenth of the first lunar month, Mo Jingchun took his sister for a visit to the back mountain, and the next day, on the fourteenth, he embarked on a journey back to school.

Charger unplugged, circuit breaker pulled, main door locked, the next return wouldn't be until next year.

At the train station, Mo Jingchun once again ran into a familiar face, a police officer who had once made Mo Jingchun feel wronged yet also warmed.

Upon meeting, the two men exchanged a smile.

"Candy, say hello to Uncle."

The little one pouted and, in a babyish voice, said, "Unc~le."

After speaking, the little one shyly leaned against Mo Jingchun's chest, tilting her head to peek at the police officer.

"Wow, she can talk now?"

Mo Jingchun replied with a smile, "Just a little, sometimes the pronunciation isn't quite right."

"It's already quite impressive. If I remember correctly, the little one is a month short of turning a year old."

Mo Jingchun's face beamed with pride, as if the compliments from the police officer were intended for him instead of Candy.

"Have milk~"

Before Mo Jingchun and the police officer could continue their chat, the little one interrupted in her babyish voice.

"Go ahead, make sure the little one doesn't get hungry."

Mo Jingchun apologized with a glance at the officer and went to prepare milk for his sister Candy.

Sitting in the waiting area, Mo Jingchun held Candy, who was drinking milk, and looked around.

The more mature Mo Jingchun no longer had anyone questioning the normalcy of the duo.

When Chen Junqiang got home from work, he brought up an amusing incident during dinner.

"Honey, guess who I ran into at the train station today?"

"You see so many people every day, how would I know who you saw? What, was it some pretty celebrity again?"

Chen Junqiang let out a dismissive sound and said, "No, that's not it. Do you remember last summer, that Jing University student I mistakenly thought was bringing his sister to classes?"

"Heh, guess what, I ran into him again today."

"The little one is super cute, she can even talk now and called me 'Uncle~.'"

"Oh my gosh, it was such a delightful surprise at that moment!"

"Honey, why don't we have a daughter too? Daughters are the cutest."

Chen Junqiang's wife gave him a glance and fell into silence, realizing that it might be time to have a child. Over the years, her husband had borne a lot of pressure from relatives on both sides.

"Finish your dinner, then go take a shower."

"But I just took a shower yesterday, it's so cold, is it really necessary to wash every day?"

"Just take the shower, you talk too much. Do you believe I'll not let you into bed tonight if you don't wash?"

"Alright, alright, I'll wash, no need to be so fierce."

"You straight man!"

———

Upon returning from home, Mo Jingchun and Candy didn't even go to the apartment building but headed straight to the office of the university student's innovation and entrepreneurship incubation base.

Upon reaching the door, Mo Jingchun could hear the continuous sound of tape being ripped.

As Mo Jingchun pushed the door open, the noise in the office abruptly stopped.

Xu Pengfei and Su Wenyan, who were sealing parcel boxes, both turned to see who was so rude to enter without knocking.

Oh~ it turned out to be the boss and the adorable Candy.

No problem then, even if the boss tore the door down, they would still have to smile and say that it's time to replace it with a new high-end, classy one.

Mo Jingchun casually pushed his suitcase to the side and reached out to touch the electric kettle.

Su Wenyan, thinking the boss wanted water, said, "Just boiled, it's still hot."

Mo Jingchun nodded and began making milk for the frowning Candy, while asking Xu Pengfei and Su Wenyan, "Have you eaten yet?"

"Not yet. We were planning to eat after packaging up the deliveries."

"Perfect, I haven't eaten yet either. I'll order some takeout."

Su Wenyan licked her lips and said excitedly, "Boss, I'd like some roast duck~ If it's authentic, that would be even better."

Mo Jingchun glanced at Su Wenyan and calmly said, "Considering how hard you've worked, I'll indulge you."
