Fang Zhou looked at the Natural Beasts, their tails tucked between their legs and their limbs trembling, and gave a particularly fiendish smile.
These animal companions shivered violently. If not for their profound loyalty to Meng Hongzhuang, they would have turned and fled.
Before they could react, Fang Zhou lightly waved his Magic Staff. A stream of Nether Light shot out from its tip, piercing the heavy air and landing on the foremost skeleton. Immediately, the eyes of these Undead Creatures burned brighter, emitting a ghostly blue phosphorescence. Their movements became more agile, as if imbued with new life.
Fang Zhou waved his Magic Staff again, chanting a spell.
The [Group Brutality Skill] enveloped the entire Skeleton Army, imbuing their attacks with Corrosive Poison Damage and making the Power of Death even more ferocious.
On this arena, filled with the Power of Death and the Power of Nature, Fang Zhou and Meng Hongzhuang each stood behind their armies like two Commanders, leading a duel between life and death.
The battle horn sounded, and Fang Zhou's Skeleton Army advanced with the unstoppable force of a flood. All eighty skeletons were densely packed together. Even without weapons, their fangs and Bone Claws were exceptionally sharp. Like a mountain of corpses and a sea of bones, they charged into battle. In an instant, the whistle of death and the clang of colliding bones filled the entire field.
Fang Zhou deliberately slowed the Skeleton Army's advance. By the time the Sea of Skulls surrounded her, Meng Hongzhuang had finally regained her senses.
Despite being doomed to lose, she refused to just wait passively for defeat. If I'm going to lose, I'll at least lose with some style.
HOWL!
She raised her Magic Staff high, casting a powerful [Wild Roar]. Amidst this bellow from the wilderness, her animal companions not only received a slight boost to their Four-dimensional Attributes but, more importantly, gained the [Wild Call] enhancement.
Wild creatures had never known discipline! Their untamed nature would now strike fear into their enemies!
The primal, wild instinct deep in their bloodline overpowered their fear of the Skeleton Army.
Immediately after, Meng Hongzhuang lightly waved her Magic Staff. Green light entwined her fingertips as she softly sang an ancient ode to nature. As she sang, the Spirit of Nature answered her call, bestowing her animal companions with the [Withered Wood Revives] enhancement, which accelerated their Life Energy recovery.
In an instant, the giant bear roared, the Big Mountain Cat sprinted, and the majestic eagle soared. Vines slithered out like snakes and trees rose from the ground, forming a living, green barrier. The beasts and elements of nature converged into a force to be reckoned with.
With a single command, the two camps collided like torrential currents.
The Skeleton Legion advanced with steely discipline. Their Bone Claws clashed with the Natural Beasts' sharp claws and teeth, producing a crisp, terrifying sound. The skeletons might not have life, but they were driven by Undead Power, fighting without a hint of retreat. Meanwhile, the natural creatures, driven by anger and instinct, revealed incredible strength and resilience. Each attack contained the fury and vitality of nature.
In this duel of light and darkness, life and death, the sky seemed to be split in two. One side was a gloomy fog of death; the other, a verdant light of life. Meng Hongzhuang and Fang Zhou each stood at the rear of their formations, channeling their Spiritual Power and constantly injecting energy to drive this unprecedented war.
The Skeleton Army besieged them like a tide, met by the claws and fangs of the bear and the Big Mountain Cat. The eagle hovered above, searching for the perfect moment to dive.
However, Fang Zhou's Skeleton Army exhibited surprising discipline and tactical flexibility. Although Fang Zhou used no other skills, his army was under the control of Olaf, who had inherited some of Ning Feihu's combat instincts. The Skeleton Army operated like a set of precision war machines, accurately and systematically dividing and surrounding Meng Hongzhuang's animal companions.
The Big Mountain Cat, Nidalee, had intended to strike and then retreat from the battle, but Olaf's soul-shaking [Taunt] directly ignited her fury. It wheeled around and charged toward Olaf with imposing momentum.
Meng Hongzhuang swung her Magic Staff, using her mental link with the animal companion to try and regain control of Nidalee, who was lost in a blind rage. However, the effect of Olaf's [Taunt] was too powerful, rendering her efforts completely ineffective.
Thus, she could only watch as her main War Beast, the Big Mountain Cat, was knocked unconscious by Olaf's axe.
THUD. The Big Mountain Cat Nidalee collapsed, its expression becoming indescribably serene as if it had simply fallen asleep.
The scene was so tragic that Meng Hongzhuang couldn't bear to watch.
As the saying goes, when it rains, it pours. At that moment, the massive Giant Bear Vini, as large as a small tank, was also tightly surrounded by nearly ten skeletons.
Although Giant Bear Vini's combat power was considered quite strong for a large creature at the Lower-rank Apprentice level, the skeletons Fang Zhou summoned were Middle-rank Apprentice Undead Creatures. Furthermore, they were enhanced by the [Domination Skeleton] and [Group Brutality Skill] skills. Faced with their relentless pursuit, Giant Bear Vini's lunges became futile.
Meng Hongzhuang spared no effort, even using her recently learned [Natural Crown] skill to concentrate the majority of her animal companions' strength onto Giant Bear Vini. However, this was merely a desperate struggle before its inevitable demise.
It wasn't even necessary for Olaf to intervene. The attack bonus from the [Group Brutality Skill] enchanting the Skeleton Army's Bone Claws was already inflicting massive damage on Giant Bear Vini. In particular, the Death Energy's Corrosive Poison Attribute completely countered Giant Bear Vini's robust regenerative abilities as a natural creature. Even when Meng Hongzhuang cast [Withered Wood Welcomes Spring] again, it had no effect, merely wasting her Spiritual Power.
Furthermore, although the Skeleton Army did not attack Meng Hongzhuang directly, it had also encircled the two Thorny Porcupines serving as ranged units. After a few tragic cries, they too were swiftly struck down.
Although Meng Hongzhuang did her best to command them, her animal companions fought mostly on instinct, making it difficult to contend with Fang Zhou's tactics and raw power. With her Summoned Creatures at an absolute disadvantage in both quality and quantity, all her efforts were futile. She was being crushed, facing a complete and utter defeat.
Soon, the wounded animals' regenerative abilities faltered, and they were immediately forced onto the defensive. Ultimately, Meng Hongzhuang's animal companions fell one by one under the relentless onslaught of the Skeleton Army.
Even the Divine Eagle Quinn, hovering in mid-air, had one of its wings nearly torn off. Olaf had used [Reverse Flow Throwing] to hurl his Flying Axe with incredible speed.
Blood splattered across the sky as the eagle let out a mournful cry.
In desperation, Meng Hongzhuang could only recall Quinn to her Summoning Space. By this point, the bravery and wildness of her animal companions could not compensate for the discipline and tactical superiority of Fang Zhou's Skeleton Army.
