Undead Mage: I Have a Skeleton Clone

Chapter 239: Skinning and Bone Breaking Group Battle Under the Blood Moon

The skin of the Mutated Zombie displayed a sickly gray-green hue, covered in crack-like patterns, as if some internal force was constantly straining against its frame. Its eyes burned like twin flames. Its limbs were thick and powerful, and its fingertips were tipped with long, sharp claws. Whenever it moved, the ground beneath it would tremble slightly, revealing its astonishing weight and strength.

The Mutated Zombie's head was larger than a regular Zombie's, with a pronounced skull. The bones on its forehead protruded like two small hills, giving off a strong sense of oppression. Its facial expression was fierce and twisted, exposing two rows of sharp fangs. Scattered around the Mutated Zombie were several desiccated Zombie corpses, evidently its previous prey.

Unlike its fellow Zombies, which wandered aimlessly across the landscape, this Mutated Zombie, although exuding a formidable aura, remained perched upon a low hill. It did not actively wander around to hunt other Undead Creatures.

Fang Zhou was filled with excitement. He swiftly issued a command for Skeleton Team No. 1 to remain in position, maintain a safe distance, and observe the situation. Simultaneously, he used the Soul Link to summon all his Skeleton Teams, ordering them to discreetly converge on Team No. 1's position. He himself casually dispatched a Zombie that dared to bother him, swiftly absorbing its Corpse Essence before sprinting toward the Mutated Zombie.

While running, Fang Zhou used Archer No. 1's unique perspective to keep a close watch on the Mutated Zombie's every move, trying to detect any valuable clues. Soon, he reached a preliminary conclusion: just as Tidamia's memory suggested, the reason this Mutated Zombie lingered atop the low hill was because of a resource point with the Undead Attribute—a White Bone Crystal Cluster.

To verify this hypothesis, Fang Zhou used the Soul Link to conduct a detailed comparison between the Mutated Zombie's appearance and Tidamia's memory. The Mutated Zombie's current form astonishingly matched the image from Tidamia's recollection; in fact, it appeared about thirty percent stronger than the one Tidamia remembered.

Fang Zhou grew vigilant. It seems the White Bone Crystal Cluster holds extraordinary significance not just for the Skeleton Race, but it also provides a powerful enhancement for Zombies. Since acquiring the White Bone Crystal Cluster from Tidamia, the Mutated Zombie had evidently undergone a transformation. Its leap in power was enough to make one take notice.

Realizing this, Fang Zhou's alertness reached its peak. I must not be careless. I can no longer judge this Mutated Zombie's combat strength based on Tidamia's old memories.

Meanwhile, Tidamia had reached the vicinity of the low hill. Though normally silent and loyal, Tidamia's Soul Fire fluctuated wildly upon sensing the Mutated Zombie's presence. A strong desire for revenge erupted like a volcano within its Soul Fire, surging toward Fang Zhou through their Soul Link. While urging Tidamia to prepare for battle, Fang Zhou did his best to soothe his enraged subordinate.

"Don't worry," Fang Zhou soothed it through the Soul Link. "I will avenge you."

Under Fang Zhou's reassurance, the fury within Tidamia's Soul Fire calmed slightly.

Soon, Fang Zhou arrived at the location of Skeleton Team No. 1. The other Skeleton Teams also arrived in succession, forming an impressive assembly.

The Mutated Zombie, unlike its Zombie counterparts, apparently possessed a certain level of intelligence, akin to Tidamia, a Mutated Skeleton. Standing atop the low hill not far from Fang Zhou, it noticed the gathering of this unusual group of Skeleton Warriors.

Initially, the Mutated Zombie paid no heed to the much weaker Skeleton Servants. However, when Fang Zhou arrived, the Mutated Zombie immediately noticed him. Not only was Fang Zhou much larger than the regular Skeleton Warriors, but he was also clad in magnificent Equipment that made him stand out. The Mutated Zombie quickly realized the threat before it and began cautiously observing the actions of Fang Zhou and his subordinates.

As more Skeleton Servants gathered, the Mutated Zombie's agitation grew more apparent. It stood atop the hill, expressing its anger and agitation with roars while pacing back and forth. It would occasionally strike a Charge pose, as if warning the approaching Skeleton Army. Nevertheless, it seemed wary, never truly leaving the safety of the low hill.

The Skeleton Army, in contrast, remained silent. They stood in perfect formation, awaiting Fang Zhou's command.

Before his forces were fully prepared for battle, Fang Zhou did not want to overly provoke the somewhat intelligent Mutated Zombie. Thus, under his calm command, the gathered Skeleton Teams quietly dispersed, forming a loose encirclement around the low hill from all sides. This maneuver was both a strategic deployment and a means to prevent the Mutated Zombie from feeling overly threatened, thereby avoiding an unnecessary escalation of conflict.

The Mutated Zombie, despite possessing a certain intelligence, clearly couldn't understand this complex tactical maneuver. Watching the large-scale Skeleton Legion that could threaten it gradually spread out, its frantic state began to subside.
