Undead Mage: I Have a Skeleton Clone

Chapter 287: Knight Legion Evolved Skeleton Clone? (2)

With the sound of clashing metal, the long spears that had once terrified countless enemies now snapped like fragile twigs upon contact with the Tyrant Demon.

But among this group of Long Spear Skeletons, one stood out. It was an Elite Skeleton. Its spear was not only extraordinarily sharp but also enhanced by the power of 'Crowned with Death.'

When this finely crafted spear was aimed at a gap in the Tyrant Demon's armor, it successfully pierced its skin. However, it only went a few centimeters deep before stopping, unable to advance further. The Tyrant Demon's physical strength far exceeded imagination, making it incredibly difficult to inflict even such a minor wound.

The Tyrant Demon gave these warriors no further chances. It swung its giant sword, a massive weapon that glowed with red light. Its length was nearly equal to the Tyrant Demon's own height, exceeding four meters. Although the blade was not particularly sharp, each strike, driven by the Tyrant Demon's unparalleled strength, was enough to crush anything that stood in its way.

As the scorching greatsword descended, a sharp WHOOSH filled the air, as if the air itself was screaming under the unbearable force. The first to bear the brunt was the Elite Long Spear Skeleton. Its hard skull shattered instantly on impact, sending fragments flying everywhere.

Bone fragments scattered through the air, splattering across the bodies and faces of the nearby Civilian Soldiers. Witnessing this terrifying scene, the soldiers were overwhelmed by fear. They screamed in horror, dropping their weapons and scrambling to get away from the Tyrant Demon.

The Tyrant Demon's savage laughter shook the heavens, mocking the cowards who attempted to escape. Its giant sword swung again, each movement accompanied by a deafening roar. Shattered bodies were thrown left and right, like leaves caught in a violent wind. The Tyrant Demon strode forward, cutting through the Civilian Corps' formation. The long spears the skeletons thrust at it shattered like frail straw against its blazing greatsword, failing to inflict any substantial damage.

Just then, the neigh of a warhorse pierced the air. The Tyrant Demon's entry into the battle signaled that the decisive moment had arrived. The Heavy Armor Knight NPC, who had long awaited this opportunity, roared as his fighting spirit surged. He raised his two-handed greatsword high and yelled, "Cavalry, target the Tyrant Demon! Charge!"

Dozens of cavalry spurred their horses forward in unison. The sound of their hooves was like a ceaseless war drum as they charged with unstoppable momentum toward the giant figure wreaking havoc within the Long Spear Formation. The cavalry's charge was magnificent, and the Tyrant Demon easily sensed their approach.

A cloud of black smoke laced with tongues of flame spewed from its gaping maw. It let out a cackle like a hyena and charged toward the cavalry. A hint of joy appeared on the Heavy Armor Knight NPC's face. The Tyrant Demon's combat prowess was formidable, but even so, it couldn't possibly withstand a frontal charge from dozens of cavalry on its own. Confident in its terrifying strength and solid armor, the Tyrant Demon surprisingly launched a counter-charge. This was exactly what the Heavy Armor Knight NPC had hoped to see.

The distance between the cavalry and the Tyrant Demon closed rapidly. The power within the Heavy Armor Knight NPC surged to its peak. With his long spear aimed forward, he looked like a majestic War God.

Thirty meters!

The distance vanished in the blink of an eye. In the final moment before impact, the Heavy Armor Knight NPC gave his final order, "Lower your long spears, prepare to thrust!"

The Knights showed no hesitation. They swiftly and smoothly lowered their long spears in unison, the sharp tips glistening coldly in the sun as they aimed at the Tyrant Demon's vitals. However, the Tyrant Demon's reaction was beyond anyone's expectation. The corners of its grotesque mouth twitched into a cunning and cruel smile, as if it could already see the bloody spectacle about to unfold. An unprecedented sense of crisis suddenly surged through the Heavy Armor Knight NPC. He sensed the ominous premonition almost instantly, but it was too late to retreat. He could only brace himself for the impending disaster.

The Tyrant Demon's hands suddenly flung open, as if tearing a rift in space. A blinding red light erupted, engulfing the entire battlefield in a sea of flames. From within the light, countless black-and-red fireballs rained down like molten magma from an angry volcano. They expanded rapidly in mid-air, exuding an intensely dangerous aura, as if intending to devour every living thing.

"Continuous Fireball!"

The words flashed through Lu Renjia's mind like a lightning strike as he fought in the distance. The name of the magic echoed in his heart like a curse. He knew its terror well; it was a talent skill that only a few particularly gifted Tyrant Demons could master. Having been educated at the Sea City Military Academy, Lu Renjia was no stranger to it. At that moment, regret and self-blame surged through him like a cold tide. He should have foreseen this possibility and warned his NPC allies to be on guard. But now, it was too late.

The Heavy Armor Knight NPC's shout echoed through the firelight, "Evade!"

However, it was the last thing he could do. With a deafening BOOM and a blinding flash, he and his steed charged headlong into the red glow, colliding directly with countless fireballs. The resulting spectacle was tragic, like a colossal firework blooming over the battlefield before instantly extinguishing, leaving only death and destruction in its wake.

The knights and cavalry following close behind could not escape the disaster either. Struck by the sudden onslaught of fireballs, they let out cries of terror that were quickly drowned out by the explosions. Only a dozen or so cavalrymen at the very rear of the formation, thanks to their superior alertness and well-honed instincts, managed to rein in their galloping warhorses.

They stared in terror and despair at the raging sea of red light before them, as if already seeing their own inevitable doom.

The Tyrant Demon let out a thunderous roar across the battlefield. The sound was like a beast awakening from the Hell Abyss, carrying with it a suffocating pressure. Ignoring the embers and scorching heat left by the Continuous Fireball Skill, it decisively brandished its enormous, fiery greatsword and charged into the area where the red glow was beginning to dissipate.

Continuous Fireball was a High Tier magic spell powerful enough to cover a large area, but because its energy was dispersed, its damage against a single target wasn't significantly higher. For someone like Lu Renjia, who had a well-optimized set of upper-level Apprentice skills, the spell was formidable but not a fatal threat. For the lightly equipped and agile Light Cavalry, however, Continuous Fireball was a cataclysm.

Their armor was insufficient to withstand the intense heat, and their very speed had carried them headlong into the flames. When the fire and smoke finally began to clear, the once-orderly cavalry formation was in complete disarray, as if struck by an unprecedented disaster.

Roughly forty Light Cavalry were caught in the sea of fire, their figures writhing in agony under the crimson glow. Fang Zhou's timely summoning of a Skeleton Shield had protected nearly half of the cavalry, allowing them to survive the attack. The rest, however, were incinerated by the intense heat and explosions.

Their mounts collapsed with piercing whinnies, their bodies twisting in the flames as they became another sacrifice on the battlefield. The air filled with the nauseating stench of scorched flesh.

Undeterred by the sight, the Tyrant Demon charged straight for the cavalrymen who had escaped the range of the Continuous Fireball but were still reeling in shock. Without their Knight's leadership and protection, these survivors were utterly helpless.
