Undead Mage: I Have a Skeleton Clone

Chapter 294: Resource Expansion Skill Perfection

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

Meanwhile, the battle on the field was nearing its end.

Olaf and Tidamia, fighting side-by-side, finally managed to heavily wound the last surviving Zombie Wolf. Olaf raised his Giant Axe, ready to deliver the finishing blow, but Fang Zhou, who had snapped back to his senses, stopped him.

Leaving the last surviving Zombie Wolf alive is a good idea. While it can't be subdued as a Servant, it's quite valuable for research.

Fang Zhou already had a plan. He craved not only an increase in his personal power but also a deep understanding and mastery of the entire Undead System. He hoped to discover a method for taming even more powerful Undead Creatures by studying the behavioral patterns, power sources, and evolutionary potential of this Zombie Wolf and others like it. One day, he might even be able to create his own Undead Mount, achieving a magnificent transformation from foot soldier to cavalry.

This would be a major leap forward on his path as an Undead Mage and a solid foundation for his advancement to higher realms.

Turning back, Fang Zhou looked at the dark red Nether Ore in his hand. Full of anticipation, he shoved the ore into his mouth and began to chew forcefully. His fangs, like forged steel, effortlessly ground the relatively soft ore into fine fragments. The pieces crunched loudly in his mouth, echoing like metal striking bone, and were quickly pulverized and swallowed. Once he felt the ore was sufficiently ground down, he gulped it into his stomach without hesitation.

As the ore went down, a rumbling sound followed.

BANG!

In that instant, the Nether Ore shattered within him. A chilling energy exploded like a bomb, sweeping through Fang Zhou's entire body. This power rapidly froze every inch of his flesh and blood, plunging him into an icy state. Under the baptism of this frigid energy, Fang Zhou's muscles, bones, marrow, and even the Undead Energy within him began to undergo subtle changes.

The sensation was somewhat similar to his first evolution when he refined the energy from the White Bone Stone. This time, however, the change wasn't as intense. As the energy gradually permeated his body, Fang Zhou felt an unprecedented hunger rising from his stomach, as if an invisible hand were tearing at his insides.

Fang Zhou raised his head, his eyes having turned completely blood-red at some unknown point. He unhesitatingly grabbed the corpse of the Zombie Wolf Leader before him and began to devour it ravenously. Under his Corpse Armor skill, the massive Zombie Wolf corpse vanished in moments.

Even so, the gnawing hunger was not satisfied.

"Not enough."

Fang Zhou grabbed another Zombie Wolf corpse and continued to feed. Only after the bodies of both Zombie Wolves were completely consumed, turning into fine ash, did the intense hunger finally begin to subside.

By this point, the Skeleton Clone's body had also undergone significant changes. His already towering frame now stood at a height of two and a half meters. His muscular definition was even more pronounced, as if every fiber contained limitless power. The taut, knotted muscles gave him a superhuman sense of might. He wore a suit of armor formed from corpses that not only protected him but also shimmered with a gray-black light from between its seams, like the cold glint of the Abyss, exuding a bone-chilling cold.

His entire body had become more robust, filled with power ready to erupt at any moment. His limbs, in particular, were thicker and stronger than before, while his fingers and toes had grown sharp and fearsome, as if designed for tearing flesh. Even his neck had thickened considerably, setting his head more solidly upon his shoulders.

Most noticeably, after consuming the Nether Ore, the Undead Attribute energy fluctuations around him became more subtle and profound, like a bottomless abyssal ocean. This was the effect of the Nether Ore purifying his Undead Attribute energy, making him more unpredictable and powerful.

Within the Nether Ore Vein, the Skeleton Clone, having undergone a minor evolution, slowly lifted its head. Its cold gaze fell upon the last Zombie Wolf, which had fallen quiet at some point.

Under the light of the Blood Moon, the hill of corpses was utterly silent, save for the occasional sound of distant battles. A normal person would go mad in such an eerie and deathly silent environment, which was also fraught with hidden dangers. Yet, Fang Zhou relished it.

He regrouped his Skeleton Battle Group and discovered that even in the brief, overwhelmingly advantageous encirclement, he had lost five Close Combat Skeleton Servants. The main cause was the Zombie Wolf Leader's Death Energy Spray; three Giant Shield Skeleton Warriors had been too slow to dodge and were corroded into oblivion by the energy.

Shaking his head slightly, Fang Zhou realized that the strength of these ordinary Skeleton Warriors was becoming somewhat inadequate for him. Of course, as power-leveling tools and consumable cannon fodder in battles, they are still quite adequate.

After the energy purification, the Skeleton Clone needed to replenish a large amount of Corpse Essence. For this, he would have to rely on his loyal skeleton minions.

After reorganizing his skeletal troops, Fang Zhou ordered Tidamia and the Skeleton Teams to spread out from the Nether Ore Vein and begin another round of relentless hunting.
