Undead Mage: I Have a Skeleton Clone

Chapter 39: Team Dungeon One Man Army

The fog was thick, and Fang Zhou's field of vision revealed no signs of life.

However, the sound of flowing water seemed to be coming from up ahead, and it didn't sound too far away.

"Mission: Kill all demons and reclaim the Riverfront Outpost."

Since it was called the Riverfront Outpost, it must be located by a river.

Fang Zhou led his Skeleton Army, slowly exploring toward the source of the sound. As the air became increasingly damp, he knew he was on the right path.

He looked up and saw a few stone buildings faintly situated atop a hill, forming a small encampment.

This must be the Riverfront Outpost.

A three-person instance. I wonder how many demons are inside?

Fang Zhou recalled the stealth training from his practical combat classes. He crouched slightly and commanded his Skeletons to approach the outpost as quietly as possible.

A faint sulfuric stench hung in the air, a distinctive odor that Fang Zhou knew emanated from demons.

It seems the Simulation Battlefield is quite meticulous with its details.

Fang Zhou led the Skeleton Army through a dense thicket, approaching the cluster of buildings that made up the Riverfront Outpost. The ground was damp and littered with hidden roots and stones, making it very easy to slip.

He gazed intently into the distance, carefully observing the environment around the outpost. The fog was thinner there, allowing Fang Zhou a clear view of the outpost's layout.

To his surprise, there were no guards posted around the outpost.

On second thought, he figured that since this was just the Simple difficulty version of the [Horn Demon Outpost], it was expected to be easier. After checking a third time, Fang Zhou got up and ran toward the side gate in the outpost's wall.

The side gate was shut tight. Fang Zhou pushed hard several times. With his Power Attribute of 4, the wooden gate emitted a faint cracking sound before tilting inward and falling.

Fang Zhou commanded the Skeletons to pass through the side gate, his gaze sharp as he looked at the largest building in the outpost. The building was constructed from stone and mortar. Its two iron-clad doors were broken and lay discarded to the side, revealing a corroded gap between them.

CRACK.

CRACK.

Fang Zhou summoned another 20 Skeletons to form a shield in front of him, then directed the first 20 to surge into the outpost's main building.

Contrary to his expectations, the entrance hall was also devoid of demon guards. Reaching the end of the hall, he saw two corridors branching to the left and right. Fang Zhou thought for a moment and chose the left one. If the demons are truly scattered, this battle will be much simpler.

The stone corridor was empty. Although the Skeletons moved as quietly as possible, the sound was still very noticeable.

Fang Zhou frowned slightly. In terms of stealth, an Undead Mage really has no advantage. If I get the chance, I should consider developing some practical skills to conceal my tracks. For now, as long as I kill all the witnesses, it still counts as a successful stealth mission.

Ready for battle, Fang Zhou soon reached the end of the corridor, where he faced a wooden door. An intense demonic aura emanated from behind it. The sharp laughter of demons, mixed with roars in their native tongue, could be clearly heard from within.

Fang Zhou gripped his Magic Staff tightly. "All troops, attack!"

The Skeletons in front of him let out a collective, silent roar and charged the door. The fragile wooden planks shattered instantly under their assault, revealing the stunned faces of more than a dozen Little Inferior Demons inside.

The Little Inferior Demons were completely unprepared for the attack. Fang Zhou's pre-charged [Skeleton Flying Spear] pierced through the three demons closest to the doorway in its first volley. The one in the middle took a spear to the neck, a bloody hole appearing as it collapsed without a sound. The other two, despite being pierced through the chest, had not yet succumbed due to the unique, tenacious Life Energy of Abyssal Demons. They shrieked and lunged forward.

The horde of Skeletons immediately intercepted the two heavily wounded Little Inferior Demons. Fang Zhou paid them no mind—they were already doomed—and swiftly scanned the rest of the room.

Counting the three at the door, there were a total of 11 Little Inferior Demons in the room. His Spiritual Perception told him there were eight at the Lower Rank of Apprentice and three at the Middle Rank.

Compared to the [Little Inferior Demon Camp], which is also on Simple difficulty, this is several times harder!

However, with no troublesome Abyss Demon Children present, Fang Zhou wasn't concerned by a mere few Little Inferior Demons. What did put him on guard, however, was that this Simulation Battlefield was clearly called the [Horn Demon Outpost], yet there wasn't a single Horned Demon in the room.

It seems these aren't all the enemies.

Under the Skeletons' assault, the two already heavily injured Little Inferior Demons wailed before they were quickly finished off.

More Little Inferior Demons reacted. Some wielded steel forks and shrieked curses as they charged, while others picked up Stone Throwing Ropes, attempting to fire projectiles at Fang Zhou.

Someone of any other Profession, facing so many Little Inferior Demons alone, would have been helpless and forced to flee in disgrace. But unfortunately for them, Fang Zhou's specialty was the Sea of Bones Skill.

Leaving 10 Skeletons to guard him, he commanded the other 30 to charge the Little Inferior Demons. Under the enhancement of [Domination Skeleton], his Middle Rank Apprentice Skeletons were no match for Little Inferior Demons of the Same Tier, but they had no problem blocking the Lower Rank ones.

The charging, fork-wielding Little Inferior Demons were forced back by the dense wall of Skeletons, and the stone projectiles from the slingers were all blocked by Fang Zhou's Skeleton Shield.

Seeing the battle was firmly under his control and falling into a familiar rhythm, Fang Zhou leisurely cast [Skeleton Flying Spear], prioritizing the elimination of the stone-slinging Little Inferior Demons.

While executing these surgical strikes, Fang Zhou also had the presence of mind to analyze his own shortcomings.

In large-scale combat like this, the usefulness of a single-target damage Skill like [Skeleton Flying Spear] is limited. Perhaps I need to develop a damage Skill focused on area-of-effect attacks to handle hordes of Little Inferior Demons and improve my killing efficiency.

Amidst the curses and screams of the Little Inferior Demons, the Skeletons' sharp claws gradually became stained a deep purple. Even the three Middle Rank Apprentice Little Inferior Demons fought back fiercely, severely injuring a few Skeletons, but their efforts were rendered futile by Fang Zhou's [Resurrection of the Dead].

As more Little Inferior Demons fell, the sulfuric stench of demonic blood filled the room. The demonic roars gradually faded into silence, leaving only the cold, relentless clatter of skeletal bones echoing in the room.

Fang Zhou remained vigilant. The Horned Demon of the outpost still hasn't appeared. The battle isn't over.

He quickly surveyed the battlefield. He had killed 11 Little Inferior Demons without a single casualty among his 40 Skeletons. This was thanks to his exquisite command and the powerful healing effect of [Resurrection of the Dead].

Fang Zhou calmed his slightly agitated Spiritual Power, led his Skeleton Army back the way they came, and then chose the right-hand corridor in the main hall.
