Undead Mage: I Have a Skeleton Clone

Chapter 45: You Really Make Demons Sick (Trial Celebration!)

Fang Zhou was like a meticulous combat machine. He constantly unleashed the skill "Resurrection of the Dead," using his twenty skeletons to pin the frenzied Giant Axe Horned Demon in a corner of the hall. At the same time, he looked for opportunities to cast "Skeleton Shackles" and disrupt the escape routes of the three Abyss Demon Children.

Compared to the previous two difficulty levels, this axe-wielding Horned Demon's lethality had clearly increased significantly.

Even with the bonus from the "Domination Skeleton" skill, the skeletons Fang Zhou summoned couldn't withstand a single blow from the Horned Demon's axe.

Fortunately, as Undead Creatures, skeletons have no vital points in the traditional sense, aside from the skulls that house their Soul Fire.

Unless one was unlucky enough to have its skull crushed by the axe, it could be revived by Fang Zhou's "Resurrection of the Dead" skill even if it was cleaved in two.

Furthermore, while the Giant Axe Horned Demon possessed immense strength, its Agility Attribute was clearly its weakness. Its movement and attack speed were both very slow, giving Fang Zhou the opportunity to command his Skeleton Army to perform staggered attacks.

Even so, amid the Horned Demon's frenzied roars, the ranks of the twenty skeletons steadily dwindled.

In just two minutes, the Soul Fires of five skeletons were extinguished, their bones scattering across the ground.

Fang Zhou's expression was calm, unmoved by the casualties among his skeletons. Most of his attention was focused on the Abyss Demon Children fleeing in disarray.

Compared to the melee-type Horned Demon, whose thick scale armor made it difficult to kill quickly, the three Abyss Demon Children had to be dealt with first. They not only countered Mages but could also launch ranged attacks.

If he allowed them to hide safely in the rear, they could continuously use their Magic-Devouring Talent and cast Desecration Beam, which would severely restrict him.

In those two minutes, he had already directed the skeleton horde to kill two of the Demon Children, leaving only the most cunning one struggling to survive.

Soon enough, however, the last Abyss Demon Child was cornered by ten skeletons.

Realizing it was trapped in a hopeless situation, it shrieked and waved its obsidian magic ball, firing a Desecration Beam that struck the skull of a skeleton that couldn't dodge in time.

Fang Zhou seized the opportunity, capitalizing on the momentary stillness of its casting animation to pierce its heart with a precise and ruthless Skeleton Flying Spear.

At this point, only ten skeletons remained surrounding the Giant Axe Horned Demon, and all of them were severely damaged.

However, under the onslaught of the fearless skeletons, the Horned Demon was panting heavily. The scale armor protecting its vital areas was covered in scars of varying depths, and its combat effectiveness had noticeably declined.

Fang Zhou breathed a small sigh of relief, but he did not let his guard down.

His Spiritual Power is nearly depleted, and with only thirty skeletons remaining, he has to make every bit of strength count.

Under his masterful command, twenty relatively intact skeletons moved to the front line, while the ten severely damaged skeletons retreated to form a second wave.

The vast hall gave the Horned Demon room to unleash its full power, but it also allowed Fang Zhou to make full use of his Sea of Skulls tactic.

Wave after wave of skeletons surged like a tide toward the lone Giant Axe Horned Demon.

Feints, covering fire, deceptive maneuvers, and suicide charges...

No wonder Chen Qingshan had praised him as a genius with the potential to become a Tactical Master.

Under his command, the mindless skeletons coordinated with intricate precision, tormenting the Giant Axe Horned Demon like a swarm of agile rats and causing it immense suffering.

The Giant Axe Horned Demon naturally understood the principle of "capturing the king to win the battle" and attempted to charge Fang Zhou several times.

However, each time it gathered power for a charge, Fang Zhou interrupted it with "Skeleton Shackles," which in turn created more openings for the skeletons to exploit.

Soon, weakened by blood loss and exhaustion, the Giant Axe Horned Demon's movements became increasingly sluggish.

Although it managed to take down another eight skeletons, it was struck by two of Fang Zhou's precise Skeleton Flying Spears in the process.

Suddenly, the Giant Axe Horned Demon threw its head back and roared, its blood-red eyes glaring fiercely at Fang Zhou, who watched calmly from a distance.

Fang Zhou's heart skipped a beat. He knew the boss was about to enter its final, desperate phase.

Sure enough, the Horned Demon raised its right hand high. Demon Power rapidly converged in its stout arm, which began to emit a malevolent black glow.

"Insect! Die!"

With a furious roar, the Horned Demon took aim at Fang Zhou's position and hurled its treasured Abyssal Giant Axe with all its might.

Now weaponless, the already exhausted Horned Demon would fall that much faster to the Skeleton Army.

But if it didn't stake everything on this one chance to behead the disgusting Undead Mage, its death was certain anyway.

With a sharp whistle, the giant axe, thrown with the Horned Demon's full strength, crossed the dozens of meters in an instant.

Every skeleton in its path was shattered into a pile of bones, doing nothing to slow its speed or diminish its power.

Forget Fang Zhou, who was directly facing the flying axe—even the many students watching the live broadcast of his fight couldn't help but cry out in alarm.

"It's over! Fang Zhou is going to be eliminated!"

"This difficulty is insane! A Horned Demon is a melee-type demon, but it can throw its axe? Forget a physically weak Undead Mage like Fang Zhou, even an Assassin who specializes in agility probably couldn't dodge that!"

"Sigh, what a shame! Victory was clearly in his grasp, but now the tables are being turned on him at the last second."

"Exactly. The timing of his skills, the art of his command over the Skeleton Army... it was all perfect. To lose now because of a single misstep, you can only call it bad luck!"

Hearing the other students' chatter, Bai Xiaochan held her breath and clenched her small fists, her heart rising into her throat. "Fang Zhou still has 'Skeleton Shield'! Maybe he can block the flying axe!"

Ye Fan, who was standing beside her, simply shook his head.

"That's an attack you have to dodge. You can't block it head-on."

Even the instructors in the conference room held their breath as they watched the battle, their hopes for Fang Zhou dwindling.

For someone who had only Awakened a month ago, reaching this stage was already beyond anyone's wildest expectations.

Facing the whistling Abyssal Giant Axe, however, Fang Zhou remained perfectly calm.

He gently waved his Magic Staff. "Skeleton Wings!"

In an instant, a pair of bone wings woven from undead mana materialized behind him, and his body became as light as a feather.

With a slight flap of the Skeleton Wings, Fang Zhou's body shifted several meters to the right in mid-air, dodging the Horned Demon's seemingly inescapable flying axe at the last possible second.

Fang Zhou's god-like maneuver not only sealed the Horned Demon's fate but also stunned everyone watching the live broadcast once again.

In the conference room, Lu Hu slammed his hand on the table and shot to his feet, unable to contain himself any longer.

"A displacement skill from the Skeleton Series?! Fang Zhou developed one so quickly?"

Shen Hongyu, Chen Qingshan, and the other instructors erupted into discussion.

"An Undead Mage's greatest weakness is their lack of powerful displacement skills!" one exclaimed. "No matter how many Summoned Creatures they have, they're always vulnerable to being assassinated. I can't believe Fang Zhou already patched up that weakness!"

"Exactly!" another added. "Even though it's only an Apprentice-level skill, now that he has a successful proof of concept, developing it further won't be difficult at all!"

"Without Fang Zhou, the path of the Undead is a long, dark night!"
