Undead Mage: I Have a Skeleton Clone

Chapter 47: I'm Already Doing My Best to Kite Them

This potion was the reward Fang Zhou had received for his first clear of the Horn Demon Outpost on simple difficulty.

When Fang Zhou created the projection, he also brought this potion with him, which was permitted by the rules.

After drinking the potion, Fang Zhou meditated cross-legged for a few minutes and decisively activated the [Calm and Relaxed] skill, restoring his Spiritual Power to about seventy percent.

With his preparations complete, he dispersed his Skeleton Army to lie in ambush within the thick fog near the traps. He then went to the outpost alone to execute his plan to lure out the enemy.

The defenses in front of the outpost were tight. Fang Zhou glanced around, spotting at least six Little Inferior Demons standing guard in various directions.

He shook his head slightly, completely abandoning the idea of sneaking into the outpost as he had done the previous three times. With so many sentries, it was absolutely impossible for him alone to take them all out instantly without alerting the demons inside. Even if three Middle-Rank Apprentice Assassins teamed up, they would probably struggle to accomplish it.

So be it. Time for Plan B!

Fang Zhou gently waved his Magic Staff and decisively unleashed a Skeleton Flying Spear.

A sharp sound pierced the air as a Little Inferior Demon sentry fell to the ground. The other sentries, however, immediately noticed Fang Zhou's presence. Subsequently, one of them let out a piercing warning cry, and a commotion erupted from within the outpost.

ROAR!

Following a loud roar, a burly Horned Demon clad in Heavy Armor and wielding a Giant Axe squeezed its way out of the outpost's main gate. Right behind it, a group of Little Inferior Demons and Demon Children, driven by their hunting instincts, rushed out as well.

Their blood-red eyes, filled with a rising desire to kill, fixed on Fang Zhou at the edge of the jungle. However, since the Horned Demon Boss had not issued a command, they barely restrained their bloodthirsty instincts, standing guard at the outpost's entrance.

Fang Zhou's gaze darkened as he swept it across the demons opposite him. There were thirty-eight demons in total: one Middle-Rank Apprentice Axed Heavy Armored Horned Demon, six Middle-Rank Apprentice Demon Children, six Middle-Rank Apprentice Little Inferior Demons, and twenty-five Lower-Rank Apprentice Little Inferior Demons.

The corner of his mouth twitched slightly. So this is Abyss Difficulty... how brutal.

Let alone the other demons, the fully armed Heavy Armored Horned Demon Boss by itself would be a huge problem.

Fang Zhou gripped his Magic Staff tightly. Now it was just a matter of seeing if these demons would be lured into the Thick Fog Jungle.

"Skeleton Arrow Rain!"

Ignoring the demons' frantic roars, Fang Zhou calmly began to cast. As he did, a volley of arrows whistled toward the most densely packed part of the demon formation. Although the Horned Demon Boss blocked some of the arrows with its Giant Axe, four or five of the Lower-Rank Apprentice Little Inferior Demons were still struck and killed.

However, Fang Zhou's [Skeleton Arrow Rain] didn't do much damage, but the insult was immense.

Seeing this weak Human Mage not only refusing to flee but daring to provoke them, the Horned Demon Boss's already limited rationality was instantly consumed by rage.

"Charge! Kill! Die!"

Under its furious command, the Little Inferior Demons were the first to lose control. They flapped their small wings, charging toward Fang Zhou like unleashed wild dogs. Their speed was astonishing.

Next, with a deafening roar, the Horned Demon Boss followed close behind the Little Inferior Demons, brandishing the Giant Axe inlaid with Abyssal Magic Power. In contrast, the Demon Children, not known for their physical prowess, were the slowest and trailed at the very rear.

They took the bait!

Slightly pleased, Fang Zhou unleashed another [Skeleton Arrow rain] at the Abyss Demon Children bringing up the rear. This forced them to scatter in a panic, separating them completely from the protection of the melee demons.

Then, Fang Zhou stood his ground, deliberately waiting until the steel forks of the leading Little Inferior Demons nearly touched him before he turned and sprinted into the vine-choked jungle.

Thanks to the continuous attribute feedback from his Skeleton Clones, Fang Zhou's Agility Attribute had already exceeded 4 points. Combined with the movement speed boost from his [Apprentice Shoes], he was no slower than the elite Middle-Rank Apprentice Little Inferior Demons.

He deliberately kited them, always staying just beyond their reach. The elite Little Inferior Demons seemed to be only an inch away from catching him, yet he narrowly escaped their clutches every time. Squealing in chaotic rage, they broke formation and chased him with increasing speed, following him deeper and deeper into the foggy jungle without realizing it.

Fang Zhou glanced back, a sharp glint in his eyes. They're about to enter the Skeleton Army's ambush zone. My kiting has achieved its tactical objective.

The demon formation was now loose and severely disconnected. The six elite Middle-Rank Apprentice Little Inferior Demons were charging the fastest and were closest to him. Dozens of meters behind them were the other twenty-five ordinary Lower-Rank Apprentice Little Inferior Demons. Due to their smaller size, they were less hindered by the trees and vines, and their wings aided their running, making them the fastest pursuers. Further back was the heavily armored, slow-moving Horned Demon Boss. Its base movement speed was already slower than the Little Inferior Demons. While its full suit of heavy armor greatly enhanced its Defense Power, it came at the cost of a significant reduction in mobility. Furthermore, the Horned Demon's huge size meant the dense trees of the jungle were a major obstacle. The boss had to slash its War Axe to clear a path as it charged, leaving it far behind Fang Zhou. As for the six Middle-Rank Apprentice Abyss Demon Children, they had fallen even further behind and wouldn't be able to reach the battlefield anytime soon. This gave Fang Zhou the perfect opportunity to divide and conquer.

Soon, he saw the marker he had made, realizing the traps were just ahead. He didn't break his stride, nonchalantly continuing to sprint while mentally commanding his Skeleton Army to emerge from the fog and encircle the Little Inferior Demons.

Once the ordinary Little Inferior Demons had also crossed into the trap zone, Fang Zhou decisively turned and gave the demons, now right upon him, a slight smile.

"Come forth, my warriors."

CRACK.

CRACK.

Amidst the grating sound of rattling bones, the once-fierce and high-spirited Little Inferior Demons stared in horror. They were now completely surrounded by dozens of Skeletons, their eye sockets flickering with vibrant Soul Fire.

Fang Zhou gave the demons no time to react.

Skeleton Shackles!

Skeleton Flying Spear!

It was his familiar two-hit combo. Caught off guard, the two elite Little Inferior Demons that had been pursuing him most aggressively were instantly killed, their hearts pierced by Bone Long Spears. Their deaths signaled the annihilation of the Little Inferior Demon contingent.

Fang Zhou had perfectly utilized the varied movement speeds of the three types of demons and the terrain advantages of the Thick Fog Jungle, successfully dividing the otherwise insurmountable demon army into three disjointed sections, unable to support one another.

Now, the twenty-plus Little Inferior Demons that had been advancing so triumphantly were completely surrounded by forty Skeletons. Meanwhile, the Horned Demon Boss and Abyss Demon Children were still too far away to intervene.

This was the time gap Fang Zhou had created.
